5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Bought this baby at $379.99 from a shell shocker deal. I must say, it WAS quite a shock. Never before has a laptop made me cry tears of joy every time I open it and take a glimpse at the screen. Never before has an i5 core been so cheap. Never before... have I liked the color pink so much.

Cons: It's not pink enough.

4 out of 5 eggsNo achilles heel - except the touchpad, maybe

Pros: Runs quick, cool, light, has ample hardware for any home/business use. Battery life is actually close to 3 hours even playing flash games.

Doesn't need anything out of the box for normal use, with the exception of a wireless mouse.

For $380 on ShellShocker, this deal cannot be beat. 3rd gen core i5 with hd4000, ample space, instant boot...?

Cons: Is it me, or have touchpads progressively become more and more unusable?

This particular one is useless to the point that I couldn't think about configuring anything else until I connected a wireless mouse. Where OSX has integration with the macbook touchpad that seems to be intuitive and easy to learn, Win8 touchpad integration feels like strapping a wheelchair on my back to run a 10k. I've spent enough wasted hours over the years to just accept that no PC maker will ever get the touchpad right. So I don't want to ding this laptop too hard for that.

No touchscreen, which I believe is the only reason to give Win8 the nod over Win7.

Win8 issues in general; whenever Microsoft finishes making Win8 behave just like Win7, this will be a first-rate notebook.

Other Thoughts: As with ALL systems sold with Microsoft OSes, I spent 45 minutes watching the first startup process install bloat and crapware that the manufacturer calls "value-added" software.

It took an additional 4 reboots and 1 hour to remove this garbage. I don't list this under cons because it is the facts of buying any Microsoft-driven product.
