Pros: Good design. And probably the only thing that is good about it

Cons: This is my not first Asus laptop. Unfortunately, this will be my last Asus laptop. This laptop has A LOT of PROBLEMS! Its exactly a year. I have been sending this laptop for repair at least 3 times. The problems never solved. First, making too much noises and sent for repair. Then laptop came back with dead spots. So I had to send it back again. Half a year later, the screen stopped working and got it replaced. Then other half a year, there are random dead spots that appeared. I AM SO SICK OF THE PROBLEMS! The reason I chose Asus because of the good reputations. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED at this laptop. It caused me SO MUCH TROUBLE AND STRESS ME OUT! It does not sound too much but every time when I send back my laptop, I have to wait for a week to get my laptop back. I will never buy Asus again because lack of customer support. Trust me, if you are looking for a new laptop, this is not a choice. Please find a manufacture that actually has stores near you. Too much burden!!!!!!!!

Pros: Works very well for browsing the interwebs, and playing online games! Sounds better than any laptop I've ever owned.

Cons: GPU crashes occasionally and the sub makes it a little less portable because there's really nowhere to set it when you're not at a desk.

Other Thoughts: I bought this without reading the reviews, so I didn't know about the graphics card issues before I got it. I didn't experience the issues though until after 8 months of using it for daily gaming. It's not terrible though, the performance outweighs the flaws in my opinion. I haven't found a game that couldn't be run at max settings yet... unless the GPU crashes and the IGP kicks in, then you'll be playing games with 10fps.

Pros: Bought this for my girlfriend last year. Decent specs.

Cons: My girlfriend uses this mainly as a home PC for doing art with her Cintiq. She rarely brings it anywhere.

After a few months, we noticed some hiccups. At around 10 months, the monitor started to flicker intermittently.

At the end of month 11, the computer no longer boots properly. Sometimes it goes to the Windows loading screen, but it just mostly display a black screen.

1 out of 5 eggsDON'T BUY FOR GRAPHIC WORKS

Pros: Looks great on specs

Cons: This laptop is the worst purchase I have ever made. The GPU almost never works. Keeps crashing. When in Full Screen mode it keeps switching between IGP and Nvidia.
Drivers keep crashing since I first got it regardless of version.

Other Thoughts: For the last almost 20 I have used ASUS MOBOs and never had any problems. Also Asus laptops from user from the very beginning when they were just barebones. At the moment my 2 desktops are both ASUS MOBOs and GPU.
So apart from this HORRIBLE PRODUCT everything else is and was great.

Pros: It worked semi-nicely before it broke, even though I had a bunch of issues with drivers and maya. That wasn't entirely the laptop's fault though

Cons: It broke in less than six months. Actually to be more precise, the hdd died completely. To be fair, it fell about 1.5 feet. The hdd died almost instantly. It was infuriating, to say the least. I've owned a few laptops and they've never broken this easily.

It could just be bad luck, but it's not the only problem I had with this thing. I couldn't turn off the optimus feature because that's impossible with how this laptop was built. The screen was awful, but considering how it's a laptop, I shouldn't have been that surprised. It's supposed to be a gaming laptop though, so you'd think they'd have made it a little bit better.

Other Thoughts: The best thing I can hope from this laptop at this point is a refund. It's been a considerate waste of time and money.

Pros: Lots of great features - great price

Cons: Keys started falling off keyboard, keystrokes randomly fail to register with the computer

Other Thoughts: I send computer back to newegg for service but they failed to notice keys falling off laptop. I had to send back to Asus where they replaced the keyboard. Still having problem with keystrokes being recognised by laptop. Newegg refuses to look at computer again

2 out of 5 eggsThe Integrated graphics became a nightmare

Pros: By all intent, this is a good laptop. There were only minor hiccups when I upgraded all the drivers--and the specs are amazing for the price.

It's a good build too, very well-designed.

Cons: By far the biggest reason I got this laptop was I needed something portable that had good memory and gpu for autodesk maya and other 3-d software. I assumed that if a notebook could handle games, it could probably handle 3-d environments in maya. I was wrong to assume.

And the thing is--the laptop probably could handle maya, but I'll never find out because no matter what I did, it would not run with the Nvidia gtx 760m gpu because it doesn't recognize it. This laptop runs udk beautifully, so it's definitely not a problem with the actual geforce gpu.

This wouldn't have been that much of a problem if it wasn't for all the graphical glitches that kept on happening until the problem became unbearable. Things would start flashing and suddenly options wouldn't work or the driver would crash and I would lose all my work--the intel gpu isn't meant to run 3-d stuff.

Going into the NVIDIA control panel and manually choosing to make maya run with the nvidia gpu didn't work. right clicking and choosing the graphics card also made zero difference.

It became evident that if I wanted to get anywhere, I would need to turn off the nvidia optimus services altogether.

There have been other people who had similar problems and after looking around on forums, it turned out that I would need to go into the bios and manually turn it off. No biggie. I updated my bios and checked for driver updated one more time before going into the bios only to realize that my aptio bios setup has no disable optimus option.

In fact, it's quite possible that this laptop is manufactured in such a way that it's impossible to manually turn off the integrated graphics. THIS IS A HUGE DEAL. I highly recommend people to stay way from this laptop if they need assurance that the nvidia gtx card will be used.

I finally went to customer service and they confirmed that indeed, it's not possible to turn off optimus.

Aaaaaaaaaaannnnd there's the sound of over 1000 dollars being flushed down the toilet. The NVIDIA graphics card is this laptop's biggest draw for me, and without access to it for my work, this laptop is pretty much a worthless lump of coal to me. A well-designed lump of coal, but that doesn't get me anywhere.

I'm going to try a few more things, but I'm not optimistic. If nothing helps there's nothing more I can do but return this laptop.

Other Thoughts: I'm very disappointed in this entire experience, but I"m still a fan of ASUS. I made a bad assumption on my part, and didn't even know about the integrated graphics thing until it was too late.

This is a huge problem that a lot of people have been having with all notebooks that use the Nvidia optimus switcher, and it's a laptop-breaking one for me, since I can't shut it off manually in my bios.

In the end, I simply didn't do enough research and got hoodwinked because of it. Careful getting this laptop.

Pros: - Extremely good build quality
- It is certainly not overpriced (build quality factors into the price)
- Awesome Screen (1920x1080, vibrant colors, wide horizontal viewing angle.
- Great Keyboard (it's also backlit)
- Touchpad is as good as I've ever seen. I still prefer the touchpads with two separate buttons for l and r click.
- Thin enough. It's about as thin as your average laptop
- Runs almost any game on high 40 - 50 fps
- Speakers are awesome, even without the mini subwoofer.

Cons: - Vertical viewing angle isn't great, but the screen can tilt so. . .
- A bit heavy (as expected due to hardware)
- Bigger-than-average power adapter but not worth docking an egg for
- Battery life is below average (4-4.5 hours light use) Don't even try gaming on battery (1-1.5 hours)

Other Thoughts: I just want to say that this notebook is awesome. I understand that this was originally dubbed a multimedia laptop, and now they call it a gaming laptop, but this is the perfect design for a gaming laptop. It's not obnoxiously large or colorful. Asus, I don't know if this is possible, but if you can put a gtx 780m in here, a second spot for a storage drive, and a blu ray drive, it would be the perfect laptop. Personally, I removed the optical drive and replaced it with an HDD caddy, and bought an SSD, to which I cloned the OS.

Pros: Great looking machine with fantastic specs at a great price.

Cons: First unit had 8 non-working keys on the key board. Called NewEgg for an RMA and sent it back for a replacement. Second unit worked good for a day then the screen went black. Did not show the ASUS splash screen on BIOS boot. It was a hardware issue. Returned second unit for a refund. I'll buy something else.
