5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: this unit is fast... display is great and very easy to use and setup.. great cases are available...

Cons: Battery life after a week seems to be getting shorter... Unique port for charging... not universal... bad reviews on keyboard... :-(

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this unit... I hope that I will feel the same way after 6 months...

1 out of 5 eggsThis latest Transformer version is a huge disappointemtn

Pros: The faster Tegra 4 is more response (when system it working correctly) and new screen is vivid. Web pages render a bit faster. Access to 802.11N is a plus.

Cons: System reboots sporadically even when not being accessed.

When attached to the docking station and the system is moved across a desk or the screen angle is adjusted, the keyboard no longer works and/or causes random interruptions or other bad behavior (such as stopping a playing video or music file even without keys being touched).

Dock battery icon will show that it is charging the tablet, but system ignores keyboard input. Other times the system ignores the dock entirely, even when rebooted. That can include not charging after the screen is closed even though the light on the tablet power button shows that it IS charging.

Other Thoughts: I have owned two previous versions of this system and they are a nice form-factor being usable as a tablet or a netbook, which was exactly the sort of thing I was looking for in an android tablet. I promoted the older systems to many people resulting in others owning Transformers. But I will tell anyone who listens to avoid this new system like the plague.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

It's great knowing that you are satisfied with the CP speed, vivid screen faster web surfing experience and access to 802.11N network. I certainly understand your concern regarding the rebooting and disconnect related issues with the Dock. Please verify if the tablet was properly connected to the Dock to avoid the random reboot and disconnect issues. An indication it was properly docked is the lock switch is all the way to the right side. Also, please update the BIOS if the unit is running with an older version and it is recommended to install the most current system update. If you need further assistance, please email me at and write down service# 3536821 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Good

Pros: Replaced my laptop for general internet usage
Has some laptop functionality (polaris office)
On screen keyboard is easy to use
Screen is really bright and pretty
Really nice if all you want to do is check facebook, read emails, surf the web, and play youtube videos

Screen brightness kills battery
Asus still hasn't rolled out Andriod 4.4 (kitkat)
Needs more ram for Firefox

5 out of 5 eggsfix the flicker

Pros: @ Yianni G.:

The screen flicker is a known software bug. Here is how to FIX it :). It was driving me crazy too!

1. Go to settings -> power settings
2. Toggle the dynamic savings on and off, ending with Off. It doesn't matter if the setting is off to start - turn it on, wait a few seconds, then turn it off again.

This fixes the flicker until the next reboot.

Cons: It comes with a flicker bug

Other Thoughts: Once I figured out the flicker solution (shown on YouTube by Franklin) I too was getting increasingly annoyed. But a few months ago, I found this solution and it works completely for me. Now this is my go-to tablet!

1 out of 5 eggsDo not purchase

Pros: Build Quality
Tegra 4 Chip
High Res. Screen
Optional Keyboard Dock

Cons: Bit heavier than competition
Sometimes keyboard dock does not connect
Pricier than competition
ONE speaker
Dynamic contrast

Other Thoughts: I should've done my homework before buying this product, which is why I am writing this review, for others that even bother reading these things are prepared.
I can definitely deal with the extra weight, as a matter of fact, I prefer the slight heaviness of the tab, it doesn't feel cheap. The casing feels very sturdy. The keyboard dock, although great, if you swing the tab to get a better view, 75% of the time, you have to readjust it for the tab and dock to connect again.
Now the things that REALLY bothered me:
First thing that disappointed me was that it only has ONE speaker. You think where they advertise that their sound is so great, they would put in two, one on each end of the tab. Watching a movie or doing anything on the tab, you will most likely have it in landscape view. Think of it as watching TV on your home theater and the sound is mixed down to one channel and it comes from the right.
I can sort of look past the one speaker bit as I can use the excuse that I will use headphones (which I never do but still) but this one did it for me. The screen brightness flickering. I tried everything you can possibly do to get rid of it. I have auto-brightness off, turned off any power savers, have the tab connected to AC power, tried with and without the dock, reset to factory defaults several times, tried 3 different firmwares as some say it's a firmware problem. I did an RMA to Asus and they returned it just as it was. I asked if they even did anything and they reconnected the panel etc. They asked me to send it again but after googling the problem, reading that MANY others are having the same problem, with other ASUS tablets as well, especially with Tegra chips in them, they can't do anything hardware wise. Some say it's Asus' built in "Dynamic Contrast" to save the screen. Sounds great but give me the option to turn it off! I got really tired of it, about 1 hour ago, I was playing a crossword puzzle of sorts called "Crossme" (have several numbers on the sides of a grid and you have to fill in block to create a picture) and panning around the 'picture,' the brightness of the screen flickered at least 6 times within a few seconds.
Previously I had the second revision of the Samsung Galaxy Tab (labeled as the first one, not the 2) and I NEVER had a problem. Rooted the device several times, sat on it (cracked the casing but not the screen!) and no problems. I decided to get the ASUS one for the keyboard and updated spec.
If I could refund this, I would. I said to myself a while ago that I am giving up on ASUS products and decided to give them another go. I had 3 motherboards, 2 video cards and dealt with laptops by them and they ALL had problems from the beginning (all purchased from several different venders at different times.) I should've kept to my convictions.
In conclusion, if you decide to purchase this thing, do your homework first.

3 out of 5 eggsAsus made a great product but they have to check for quality issues

Pros: USB3 with dock
Full SD card slot with dock
high resolution
create speed an benchmark score
Create alternative to portable computer

Cons: Mine had quality build issues : loose bezel and connectivity issues with the dock. I heard that the dock might be fixed with newer model though.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Tablet

Pros: The screen is fantastic and the gameplay on this thing is top of its class. I got this for $430 and I feel that is a great price for the quailty of this tablet. The battery life is great for me. I use this for school work and reading nd I can get all day use out of it. Of course if I game and streaming crazy amounts of content the battery life is less. I highly recommend the dock as well. Just use some felt to help with the weak hinge.

Cons: The top left of the tablet can get warm with a lot of game use but not bad at all.

Other Thoughts: Wish it came unlocked but Asus does a great job with very minimal bloatware on this device.

5 out of 5 eggsThe best performance and value in 10.1 tablets

Pros: This is an update to my prior review.

* Beautiful screen
* Excellent frame rates in spite of super-hd screen
* Compatible with most of play store apps
* nearly-stock android and minimal cr*p-ware (>26GB free on a 32GB model)
* Android 4.3 OTA update already available
* Nice feel and balance to keyboard dock
* SD Card expansion (very important!)
* Excellent touch response
* Mini-apps are nice; I only wish there were more
* Bezels are just right-sized to prevent accidental screen touches. This is a real concern for larger tablets - too thin bezels are actually a detriment IMO.

Cons: Disappointing battery life - Yes, it might run video for 17 hours on its 5th core and keyboard dock, but use a demanding OpenGL game with a bright screen, and you might get 5 hours. The culprit is the screen and the GPU. It turns out that no tablet gets this kind of longevity on this workload. Only the nvidia shield gets close to 7 hours.

* Disappointing battery in the dock - the dock used to provide a lot of extra juice; now it seems like a lot less. But this is better than most tablet keyboards that suck power instead of adding more.

* Disappointing camera for this price. The front is fine; on the back I should like to see 8MP and flash like they had with the Prime. It is disappointing to go backwards

Other Thoughts: I bumped this to 5 eggs, because while my quibbles are still valid, this is by far the best tablet for the money. At 429, it is 170 less than the Samsung 10.1. You can get the dock (139) and the tablet *and* a 64gb SD card for less than the samsung tablet alone. And this has better performance in most benchmarks and no touchwiz bloat. Also, browsing speeds are fantastic.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Speedy Tegra 4 CPU, improved wireless, bluetooth and USB, higher resolution screen than previous TF's

Cons: no 64GB version, "floppy dock" issue.
touch sensitivity can be a bit...~fickle~ for lack of a better term.
Browser performance is better than the earlier TF prime, but still somewhat dismal.

Other Thoughts: a little thicker than the previous model, but I personally don't find this to be an issue.
The docking keyboard is, for me, the primary draw for this product. I can't really knock the tablet itself for this because the problem is with the dock, but the issue really kills the user experience of this thing for me.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Good

Pros: Great display with expandable SD slot is a plus!

Cons: I like the rom of the tf700t better with its performance options.

Other Thoughts: Keyboard dock is plastic rather than metal and the connection is not solid.
