3 out of 5 eggsGood but Fragile

Pros: 2560 x 1600 screen, good audio, light.

Cons: The display is fragile. I dropped mine less than 2 feet and started a crack moving across the screen. It functioned fine until the crack reached the far side. when that happened it became impossible to control.

Other Thoughts: Buy a good impact resistant case that you can use with the tablet and you should be fine. I'm glad I bought the extended warranty.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry to hear about the display on your TF701T cracking and becoming unresponsive. If you need further assistance regarding the factory warranty service, please email me at CL-Scott1@asus.com and write down service # N140732012 in the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid this one

Pros: I have owned a couple of the ASUS tablets in the past and got this to replace my TF101. It has excellent resolution and speed, storage is adequate for most things and with a 64 gig sd card meets all my needs. It feels a tad heavier than the TF101 but that may just be me. However, build quality on this seems worse than previous models however and support from ASUS is non-existent. The screen does not feel evenly attached all the way around and has random lockup issues.

Cons: Service, service, service Have tried to contact ASUS about an issue where a large black spot develops on the screen occasionally and it locks up hard but never get a reply, and forget trying to call them, just a giant phone run-a-round.

Other Thoughts: If it wasn't for the lack of support from ASUS my rating might of been higher as it may be just my unit that wasn't quite right but being able to get support from ASUS will never know.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear John,

3 out of 5 eggsfast tablet but with problems

Pros: fast tablet, nice display. faster processor and memory

Cons: Tablet has poor camera, it's only 5 mp with no flash. The tf700t has a 8mp camera with flash. front camera is 1.2, tf700t has a 2 mp. The screen is a lot dimmer than the tf700t model. hope future firmware updates fix the dim screen problem.

Other Thoughts: Asus really needs to work on build quality. The dock is junk and has a lot of problems.

5 out of 5 eggsWicked fast and powerful

Pros: This tablet is wicked fast and powerful. ASUS either got the drivers right for their tablets or Android 4.3 was the answer. I am absolutely amazed by how awesome this tablet is. Android 4.3 is a very powerful and user friendly OS (the tablet upgrades as soon as you turn it on) and makes using this tablet a breeze. I highly recommend this product.

Cons: The only problem is the heat on the bottom of the tablet if you let it run for an extended period. It can get more than a bit uncomfortable, but I doubt there is any significant way to cool the interior.

Other Thoughts: This tablet is way more powerful and runs MUCH smoother than the TF700T. The TF700T has problems with either their drivers or with Android 4.0. I have had the TF700T for over 6 months and sometimes Chrome takes over 5 minutes for a page to load just as an example of it's bad performance. ASUS recommended factory resetting the tablet, but I broke the digitizer screen before getting a chance. Other users have been complaining about the same problem though. ASUS might want to push Jelly Bean for that model.

1 out of 5 eggsThis latest Transformer version is a huge disappointemtn

Pros: The faster Tegra 4 is more response (when system it working correctly) and new screen is vivid. Web pages render a bit faster. Access to 802.11N is a plus.

Cons: System reboots sporadically even when not being accessed.

When attached to the docking station and the system is moved across a desk or the screen angle is adjusted, the keyboard no longer works and/or causes random interruptions or other bad behavior (such as stopping a playing video or music file even without keys being touched).

Dock battery icon will show that it is charging the tablet, but system ignores keyboard input. Other times the system ignores the dock entirely, even when rebooted. That can include not charging after the screen is closed even though the light on the tablet power button shows that it IS charging.

Other Thoughts: I have owned two previous versions of this system and they are a nice form-factor being usable as a tablet or a netbook, which was exactly the sort of thing I was looking for in an android tablet. I promoted the older systems to many people resulting in others owning Transformers. But I will tell anyone who listens to avoid this new system like the plague.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

It's great knowing that you are satisfied with the CP speed, vivid screen faster web surfing experience and access to 802.11N network. I certainly understand your concern regarding the rebooting and disconnect related issues with the Dock. Please verify if the tablet was properly connected to the Dock to avoid the random reboot and disconnect issues. An indication it was properly docked is the lock switch is all the way to the right side. Also, please update the BIOS if the unit is running with an older version and it is recommended to install the most current system update. If you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# 3536821 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

5 out of 5 eggsfix the flicker

Pros: @ Yianni G.:

The screen flicker is a known software bug. Here is how to FIX it :). It was driving me crazy too!

1. Go to settings -> power settings
2. Toggle the dynamic savings on and off, ending with Off. It doesn't matter if the setting is off to start - turn it on, wait a few seconds, then turn it off again.

This fixes the flicker until the next reboot.

Cons: It comes with a flicker bug

Other Thoughts: Once I figured out the flicker solution (shown on YouTube by Franklin) I too was getting increasingly annoyed. But a few months ago, I found this solution and it works completely for me. Now this is my go-to tablet!

1 out of 5 eggsDo not purchase

Pros: Build Quality
Tegra 4 Chip
High Res. Screen
Optional Keyboard Dock

Cons: Bit heavier than competition
Sometimes keyboard dock does not connect
Pricier than competition
ONE speaker
Dynamic contrast

Other Thoughts: I should've done my homework before buying this product, which is why I am writing this review, for others that even bother reading these things are prepared.
I can definitely deal with the extra weight, as a matter of fact, I prefer the slight heaviness of the tab, it doesn't feel cheap. The casing feels very sturdy. The keyboard dock, although great, if you swing the tab to get a better view, 75% of the time, you have to readjust it for the tab and dock to connect again.
Now the things that REALLY bothered me:
First thing that disappointed me was that it only has ONE speaker. You think where they advertise that their sound is so great, they would put in two, one on each end of the tab. Watching a movie or doing anything on the tab, you will most likely have it in landscape view. Think of it as watching TV on your home theater and the sound is mixed down to one channel and it comes from the right.
I can sort of look past the one speaker bit as I can use the excuse that I will use headphones (which I never do but still) but this one did it for me. The screen brightness flickering. I tried everything you can possibly do to get rid of it. I have auto-brightness off, turned off any power savers, have the tab connected to AC power, tried with and without the dock, reset to factory defaults several times, tried 3 different firmwares as some say it's a firmware problem. I did an RMA to Asus and they returned it just as it was. I asked if they even did anything and they reconnected the panel etc. They asked me to send it again but after googling the problem, reading that MANY others are having the same problem, with other ASUS tablets as well, especially with Tegra chips in them, they can't do anything hardware wise. Some say it's Asus' built in "Dynamic Contrast" to save the screen. Sounds great but give me the option to turn it off! I got really tired of it, about 1 hour ago, I was playing a crossword puzzle of sorts called "Crossme" (have several numbers on the sides of a grid and you have to fill in block to create a picture) and panning around the 'picture,' the brightness of the screen flickered at least 6 times within a few seconds.
Previously I had the second revision of the Samsung Galaxy Tab (labeled as the first one, not the 2) and I NEVER had a problem. Rooted the device several times, sat on it (cracked the casing but not the screen!) and no problems. I decided to get the ASUS one for the keyboard and updated spec.
If I could refund this, I would. I said to myself a while ago that I am giving up on ASUS products and decided to give them another go. I had 3 motherboards, 2 video cards and dealt with laptops by them and they ALL had problems from the beginning (all purchased from several different venders at different times.) I should've kept to my convictions.
In conclusion, if you decide to purchase this thing, do your homework first.
