1 out of 5 eggsMixed emotions

Pros: Initially liked. Good price

Cons: Touchpad was always iffy - if cursor left on a button it would activate without tapping. After 13 months (12 month warranty), would not power on, even when connected to charger. Too late to return or get warranty repair. Always liked ASUS motherboards and video cards...will not buy ASUS again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Anthony,

Thank you for your time on posting this review, we are sorry to hear your experience with the unit. Please allow me to assist you.

Please try the suggestions below to try to fix the touch pad's issue. Can I also have the unit's serial number for me to verify the unit's warranty.

* Check if the ASUS smart gesture is set to disable touch pad by connecting an external pointing device to your notebook PC if yes, disable this function
*Press fn+f9
* Or try to press f9 upon start up when your notebook PC enters troubleshooting then select refresh.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't put Windows 10 on this!

Pros: Great tablet when it works correctly

Cons: Problems charging and updating itself . It likes to go to sleep right in the middle of an update and windows doesn't like that. The OS became corrupted because of this and will no longer boot.

Other Thoughts: Tried talking to ASUS since I bought this refurbished and the warranty had passed. ASUS wanted to charge me $181 to reloads the operating system. Had I not upgraded to windows 10 they would have taken care of it for me. Never buying from NewEgg again since they wouldn't take it back either. . Other online stores have offered me better customer service than this and I will only buy from them from now on.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Emiliano,

The WINDOWS 10 upgrade was installed on the T100TA laptop with no problem found. I apologize if the unit became unbootable when you tried installing WINDOWS 10 upgrade. If you have created your own backup copy or image of the OS using an external USB device, while the system was working properly, please use this device to restore the system to factory settings. Should you need further assistance with the laptop, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# N151026754 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

1 out of 5 eggsif you like troubleshooting, buy this!

Pros: It's light
Comes with a Keyboard
Priced ok.

Cons: Problems Charging
Problems Updating
Problems Crashing

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure if it's a Windows problem or a ASUS problem. They are both blaming each other. I have 60 of these for the school I work for. Unfortunately neither ASUS nor Microsoft can offer any solutions.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Ted,

It's good to know that the price is OK having a keyboard dock bundled with the unit. Please verify if the BIOS is at least version 227 or current and install all WINDOWS Updates to resolve the charging issue. Installing all recommended WINDOWS Update will improve system stability and performance , also. Should you need further technical assistance with the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# N151027565 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

2 out of 5 eggsA mixed bag

Pros: Seem to be a surprisingly capable Win 8.1 pad/mini laptop. Very good battery life. Good screen

Cons: Some strange solutions for the pad - lack of back camera. I guess it's a windows thing. Has an USB 3.0 port but on the keypad.

The major complain is the built quality. I had a number of Asus products over the years, but this one has by far the poorest design/built. Here a some examples:
When attached, to the keyboard part, the connector seems to be loose and wobbles notably;
Power button on top got stuck (!!!! like it's 90's !!!!) and I had to tap around it to get it out.

Other Thoughts: Although it's great for watching movies and doing some light editing, I don't think that this thing will last long... also, the panels of win 8 is a mixed blessing. Every other application I use will jump to the regular desktop version and becomes barely usable in the touch screen mode.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS T100TA

Pros: I bought this notbook because I needed a light travel computer for mostly trip report and the occassional touch up of office products. It came with MS Office student version. It worked like a champ for just over a year and then one weekend after cahrging it up for my trip when I got to the hotel it did not startup at all. Only had a red light when I plugged it in. When I returned from the trip I attempted to use ASUS website to get if fixed but thier site did not work properly or was really confusing because nothing seemed to work. I ended up callig and only waitng a few minutes when I was greated by an ASUS person. We quicckly rechecked things I already checked and determined it was the logic board or the flashdrive had crashed. He told me the system was under warranty and explained what I had to do and I sent it that afternoon overnight to ASUS. A week later I got back my notebook/tablet working fine. I had to re-install the office and the few file on it were lost forever but that did not bother. I'm surprised I hear so man compaints with ASUS. I normally buy only their products for hardware, i.,e., MB, graphic cards, etc and have never had an issue with ASUS products. I have had no less than 5 of ther topline motherboards over the last ten years. This is the first time I had to ever contact ASUS over any product I have had from them and while the website needs cleaning I had no issues with tech support or the time it took to fix the computer. I normally don't place review but this one was warranted because of the great service I did revceive from ASUS. I will also be a buyer of ASUS products and hope I never experience some people put on this site about ASUS.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: While the T100TA is a fairly inexpensive notebook/tablet I believe it serves and fulfills my needs.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Asus Product, Terrible Asus Customer Servive

Pros: Not hard to find

Cons: Last August I purchased the Asus T100TA for my son to use at school. Within 2 weeks the screen got about a quarter inch crack in the upper left corner of the pad/monitor. This happened while the laptop was inside a well padded pc computer case. After using the laptop for sometime my son noticed the device was losing power while plugged in with the Asus AC adapter. I did some research on the web and found this was a common problem with this model and was due to an inadequate chipset in some of these models. I opened up an RMA on Feb. 24th, 2015 and was sent a fedex label to send the laptop in for repairs. I did tell the ASUS representative about the tiny crack when he asked me. Now I am receiving a bill for $204 to fix the crack and was told that they would not replace the chipset until I paid for repairs to the crack. I was also told the crack I mentioned to the asus rep before receiving the RAM label had voided my warranty and the lap top was being returned unrepaired. Then I was told the crack was 4 inches long and was being returned as is. The laptop was not like this when sent in. Asus did not provide any packaging for me to return the item, which I find very disconcerting at this point. The laptop was packaged in 4 inches of bubble wrap and was then placed in a cardboard box. I was also told yesterday by Dwayne, that I could not speak to a manager concerning this issue and that I needed to disputed this $204 invoice before I could get any further assistance with this issue. At this point I fell Asus is just grasping for any reason not to repair a faulty laptop that they sold knowing it had battery drain issues. Apparently this problem has existed with this model for at least two years. This is the first Asus product I have ever purchased and was under the impression Asus was one of the leading companies in the technological industry. I am not finding this to be the case..I have filed a complaint with the BBB in Fremont, CA and with the attorney general. I have also emailed Tien Phan and Annette Fontanilla in CUSTOMER LOYALTY. If this issue is not resolved soon I will take a a small claims lawsuit for a full refund. This is not the first time the ASUS service department has refused to fix known defaults or claimed the customer damaged the items sent to them. They have also refused to return items to customers if they did not pay the repair bill. even though the items are still under warranty. I hope I will find out that this company has higher ethics than this.

3 out of 5 eggsAsus Transformer T100

Pros: Have setup at work when I start I plug power in and swing away deskmount. Does everything I need and more. Very portable and when just using as tablet is just great for carrying around and entering info i'll need later.

Cons: Cannot keep running even with power plugged in. Have to wait for it to recharge. If I would have known about this I would not have bought it. Am trying to sell or trade for different unit but power problem prevents this option. Very frustrating. Don't buy it if u expect to use it as desktop, even with power plugged in battery will drain until u have to turn off and recharge it. Trusted ASUS products before but this really sucks!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat replacement for a netbook. Better than a tablet.

Pros: Long Battery, accurate touch screen, MS Office,

Cons: power charging cable is a bit short, I think it was only 3 ft. If you purchase an extra cable, make sure you get one that is powerful to help speed up the charging. My old cell phone charging cable takes forever to charge.

Other Thoughts: This is an great replacement for our aging netbook. Windows 8 really shines with the touch screen interface, and the inclusion of Word, Excel & Powerpoint 2013 is a very nice plus. It's the same screen size as a tablet, but is a laptop. Aside from games, I can't think of a reason why you would want to use a tablet in lieu of this. I recommend this for anyone that needs a small PC to do basic web browsing, simple spreadsheets, etc.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy!

Pros: None

Cons: Tablet won't start even factory reset doesn't work. This is a piece of poop and I wouldn't recommend this to even an enemy. Asus supposedly has fix for this but that requires a device be able to turn on to install the fix.

Other Thoughts: Simply do not buy this product.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer

5 out of 5 eggsWife is loving it

Pros: Battery life is great.
Compact computer/tablet with full Windows OS.
Comes with Office 2013
Micro SD card reader
USB 3.0 port on keyboard.

Cons: Windows 8, even though it comes with 8.1
glossy back - fingerprint magnet
64 GB is not really enough - but there is a micro SD card slot

Other Thoughts: I got this to be able to get some work done while on a trip.
Plays some games decently: Torchlight 2 on Steam is what I have saved. Played on the plane but the tiny space is really cramped.
My wife is using this daily to play FB Flash games so there's not much use I have on it recently.
