5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: 1.) Price was great, got it on sale for $40 less as well
2.) Full Windows. I have been looking for a good tablet with full Windows as I refused to buy anything less.
3.) Free Office 2013!!!
4.) SSD is a nice feature.
5.) Design, look, and feel of the actual device. Sleek, smooth, and just looks cool.

Cons: Not much to say here, so far I love it. Could use a little more RAM, however I realize as a tablet, 2 GB is probably enough as I won't be gaming too hard on it. Another con might be the need for dedicated graphics memory/card, however, the things I'm running on it seem to run fine without this.

Other Thoughts: Great product, would definitely buy again if I went back in time. This is my first ASUS product, but so far loving it and may add additional ASUS products to my repertoire in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsMuch better than I expected

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: Stunningly fast for running on an Atom processor. Everything opens and runs instantly, and restoration from sleep is no different. 10.1" is the perfect tablet size. The addition of the keyboard is a good productivity boost. Sale price of $350.

Battery life is incredible. The tech specs say ~11 hours, but I'm seeing about 10%/hr being used.

This also comes with Microsoft Office 2013. Not sure if it's a one-year license or not.

Cons: Running updates takes a while, and so does rebooting. Fortunately, this isn't something you have to do often.

Other Thoughts: Windows 8, while not suitable for a productive desktop replacement, is nice on a tablet. Having MS Office on here and a keyboard makes this useful for an office environment if you need to quickly manage some documents and you're away from your desk.

4 out of 5 eggsOverall good

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: 1. The price
3. Full Windows 8.1 (not RT [this is a huge deal])
2. Comes with Office! (also a big deal)
2. Small
3. USB and Micro SD
4. Camera
5. Speakers can be loud
6. Set-up is easy. It is virtually a plug-and-play

Cons: 1. Not enough RAM (needs atleast 1gb more to completely win me over)

2. Not a whole lot of built in storage, but the Micro SD slot helps.

3. You might have to update the BIOS when you get it in order to get the most out of your battery (an email to ASUS will tell you what you need to download for that)

4. The charging wire is too short. Your initial charge will most likely be on your floor. Thankfully, wires are cheap. Although ASUS should provide a long enough wire initially.

Other Thoughts: Managing multiple tabs is slow. 1gb of RAM is really not enough to let this be considered a laptop. There should be 2 models of the t100: one with 1gb and 2gb.

I had to return my first one due to the fact that it would not charge. That lead to a long 20 day wait and an annoying transfer of extended warranty; however, it was worth it.

ASUS could toss in a couple cheap items to make this purchase phenomenal; such as a tablet pen, a screen protector, a longer wire, and a 2gb option (had to toss that in there).

Overall, I am happy with my purchase. There are a lot of case options available for this product. I bought a $20 leather case for it that looks nice, but makes it over 2 times thicker. I really like the keyboard and the 3.0 USB. I would like if the feel of the keyboard. Also the joint feels like solid aluminum, which gives it a premium feel.

Would buy it again. I love having the keyboard to type stuff up and work with office and then having the ability to detach it and read documents in portrait mode.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

It's good to know that you are happy with the Transformer Book overall. I apologize that you have to return the first unit due to some issues. All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspection, these are isolated cases. I certainly understand your disappointment with some features of the unit. Should you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# N140707643 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price!

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: ** Small and lightweight
** 100% functional tablet with great attachable keyboard
** Powerful enough for Office apps, lightweight games (Warcraft III plays smoothly), and movies
** Overall a nimble and capable device

What I truly like about this tablet is that I can carry it on the go. I can be in the middle of typing a paragraph and flip the lid closed and know I can open it back to where I left off, days later! The battery life has impressed me, though my last laptop is from 2009 when batteries were more like glorified. I also have come to enjoy being able to simply poke the screen to open/close windows, as I have never been a fan of touchpads.

Cons: ** Windows 8.1
** Minimal storage capacity (64GB)
* Some minor details, such as the tablet is glossy and shows fingerprints easily, and the L and R buttons on the touchpad are slightly resistant when attempting to click them.

I knew this when I purchased the tablet, but the live tiles via Windows 8 are just not my thing. I use computers for work and play, at least 3 hours a day and I need something that isn't overly simple and allows me more control. Windows 8 seems to be an attempt at trying to make Windows "So easy a gorilla could do it!". Luckily this OS also allows you to revert to a Windows 7 style desktop, so at the very least you can opt out of the live tile stuff.

The SSD only holds 64GB, and fresh out of the box only about 40GB was available for use. Definitely take this into account.

The only other potential setbacks is that the battery will drain fast if you run 3D applications such as video games, and the battery takes about 2-3 hours to fully charge. I don't know how that compares to other computers, but in my opinion I don't see why graphene hasn't taken over the market, cutting charge time down to 10 seconds.

Also the screen is quite small, so I would not recommend this as a primary machine to write or compose with, as it will lead to eye strain. This is my go-to when out of the house or office, or when I feel like couch-surfing the internet.

Other Thoughts: I bought the 64GB SSD version for $356, which in my opinion is a pretty great price for such a nimble little device. I use it nearly every day as I walk from room to room, and it's great to take to a local cafe and read and respond to emails.

I wouldn't recommend this for gamers, someone that uses power consuming programs such as video editors or really even PhotoShop, nor would I really recommend this as a primary composition tool for writing, since the screen is small (though it works splendidly in this regard, if you can handle a small screen).

5 out of 5 eggsLite Weight

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: - Price, can't really beat this price with additional of keyboard
- Performance, compare to its class, it really is more than sufficient for office work, web, music, and light weight games
- Include Microsoft Office (too bad no Outlook)( home/Student ed.)
- fast, no issue (see other thoughts)
- not much of bloat ware. (Other vendors need to take notes on this, we, consumers, HATE to have any extra software that is outside of OS)

Cons: where is the z3770 with 4gb memory?? (Asus - get this done now)

Other Thoughts: Make sure you read other forums (such as charging, updating bios, etc.) before purchasing. Know what to expect and understand what you are purchasing for $349. Don't expect "heaven" from a $349 device.
Windows 8.1 is never a deal breaker for me. I have Windows 7 and 8.1.
I love 8.1 not because of Metro, but it makes me lazier for all the fast short cut keys. (where is that alt-f4)

4 out of 5 eggsNice Machine, Great Value

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: Great Value for the price. I've had mine for two weeks and I'm pretty impressed. I was looking into higher priced units (Dell Venue and Surface 2) by the time I got what I wanted I was in the $900 range and had to wait for release and back orders.

Very little "Bloat", decent keyboard included.

Cons: Display is not as pretty as a Venue or Surface but you would notice it unless they were side by side

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Portability

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: Good processing and graphics speed
Not RT runs most windows software
Fast USB 3.0 in keyboard
Durable glass touch screen with bright IPS display

Cons: No Outlook 2013
Relatively slow internal SSD
Keyboard mouse pad not the best

Other Thoughts: This machine has been great for taking work with me and still have good portability and with ability to run a lot of older windows software.
Internal SSD read speed 50MB/sec
Internal SSD write speed 30MB/sec
USB 3.0 read/write speed maxes out the stick 190MB/sec

5 out of 5 eggsGreat machine

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: Bought to use as a tablet with keyboard to travel with. Easy to carry and the battery life is long.8 hours or so. Nice and sensitive. The ports are great, nice to have an USB on the tablet itself, just get and adapter to use it with regular USB interfaces. Powerful enough to run extensive Excel spreasheets. Struggles with Autoroute, I do put a lot of stops in there though. Movies run smoothly.

Cons: Takes forever to charge fully. The touchpad m1 and m2 take a lot pressure to click, I usually use a mouse or trackbTouchpadall with it if I am going to use for a while.

4 out of 5 eggsNo Office

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: It does what it is supposed to do.
The keyboard is small, but I hunt and peck so that isn't a problem. I knew it was small when I purchased it.

Cons: Where is my Office, student version?

5 out of 5 eggsBest tablet you can buy

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: Heat resistant hard cover casing
Extremely fast loading times
boots from completely powered off to your user's start menu in around 10 seconds
has windows 8.1 (which means it's a full PC in a tablet!)
11-12 hour battery life
detachable pivot-jointed keyboard / mouse-pad
can double as a tablet PC or a laptop
full Microsoft office included
smooth touchscreen interface

Cons: Long charge time
Charging cable is much too short

Other Thoughts: If your looking for a tablet or a laptop, then the ASUS T100 is the perfect choice. Other tablets cannot compare to a full windows tablet. Absolutely everything that you are able to do on your windows desktop or laptop can also be done on this tablet. How can an over-sized iPod (iPad) even slightly compare to a full computer? Apps? who needs apps when you have full web browsers with full Adobe Flash support, browsers which are also capable of downloading anything and everything. Apps are often just mobilized websites, but you can't professionally edit videos using programs like Sony vegans on an iPad. You can't produce and compose music and record audio to the extent that programs like FL Studio can on an android device. Can your IPad jailbreak your iPhone, or even import music and videos to it? No? My ASUS T100 tablet can. How? Because it's a full computer. Are you gonna finish typing that paper for that composition class using your iPad? Yeah, i didn't think so either. But I'm gonna zip through that paper with my detachable keyboard and Microsoft Word which came included with my ASUS T100 Windows PC tablet. And as a matter of fact, I typed out this whole review using that tablet and keyboard. Windows tablets are hands down the best tablets you can buy. You would be a fool to spend $750 on an over-sized iPod (iPad) when the$400 ASUS T100 offers so much more!
