1 out of 5 eggspeice of junk

Pros: Makes an alright tablet

Cons: Track pad is vary laggy. typing is laggy. when docked with the keyboard the screen does not tilt far enough back for comfortable viewing. When docked it is to top heavy. most of the preloaded asus programs failed to load

Other Thoughts: I regret buying this.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I certainly understand your concern regarding the issue with the touchpad. Please allow some time to use to the multi-touch feature of the pad. Also, in order to improve the touchpad responsiveness and stability, please install all recommended WINDOWS Update and upgrade to WINDOWS 8.1. Also, try updating the ASUS Smart Gesture utility and try to configure the touchpad within the application. Should you need further assistance, please email me at and write down service# 3708889 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

5 out of 5 eggsEverything It's Supposed to Be

Pros: Since the release of the iPad, I've waited for a capable x86 tablet that can truly replace my aging laptop and serve my wife's purposes when she cooks with online recipes in the kitchen. I had tried a Surface, but was unimpressed with the flimsy keyboard attachment. This, on the other hand, is every bit an Ultrabook, and a useful, if heavy, large screen tablet.

-Solid build quality
-Hinge is strong, magnetic attachment for tablet a nice touch
-No hiccups or slow-downs so far
-Good price vs comparable Ultrabooks (got it on sale for $750)
-Screen quality is fantastic
-Great battery life
-Speakers surprisingly decent for a tablet

Cons: -A bit hefty. Certainly heaviier than a pure ultrabook
-Tablet half/screen is much heavier than keyboard, makes it somewhat tippy on uneven surfaces.
-Keyboard has separate charging cable from tablet (haven't yet lost the keyboard before the tablet battery wears down, though)
-Windows 8 installed, not 8.1 - easily remedied after updates

Other Thoughts: I've been a loyal ASUS customer since I started using their motherboards in desktop builds. I've always been impressed with their build quality and never had a faulty component. This was no different. It's an impressive machine, and a little bit of extra weight is understandable when you pack a laptop-class quad-core system into a tablet.

As far as the user who gave it 1 egg, the touchscreen is perfectly usable with a stylus, and there are plenty of options in Windows 8.1 to adjust/improve the sizes of icons to make it more touch-friendly. Windows 8 is a little wonky to use at first, but I've grown to like it..

5 out of 5 eggsGot it on Sale

Pros: This combines the Ultrabook with Tablet fantastically. Performs these duties with ease.

Cons: Windows 8.1 - Not the fault of the hardware or ASUS, but Windows 8/8.1 is still at the in-between stage of having a Mouse/KB and being a tablet. The frustrations of the reviewer about the small size is a Windows/Microsoft issue, rather than the tablet.

Other Thoughts: The fact the Transformer is both Tablet and Ultrabook makes the Cons certainly more noticeable. When undocked, the non-touch friend components of Windows 8 can lead to frustration, but that's an adjustment the user has to make and has no bearing on the device itself.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat convertable tablet

Pros: Full 1080p screen
On par performace with other ultrabooks
8 hour battery life under light to medium usage
Trackpad/ keyboard works wirelessly
Trackpad feels like one on a mac
Keyboard feels just like one on a full laptop

Cons: Audio drivers needed updating
Clicking on the trackpad is a bit loud

Other Thoughts: Awesome little tablet, when I first got it, the volume was behaving erratically, turning the volume to 1% would making the speaker play at 100%. However after installing the newest drivers from Asus's support page (just google "asus t300la" and pick the result) the volume is fixed.

On the inside it has a i5 4200U which is pretty much the norm for 1080p ultrabooks at the moment, 4gb of ram has worked fine and I doubt anyone would really need more unless you run some heavy stuff on it.

Also to the reviewer who gave this a one star because you couldn't use a stylus, I don't know why Asus told you that, any stylus for Android/iPhone/iPad will work on this screen. I have tried it with one I have and it works fine.

Overall fantastic tablet, you get a powerful windows 8 tablet with a great keyboard body, without having to sacrifice much on either side. Would recommend.

1 out of 5 eggsLousy Product

Pros: Looks like a cool tablet, works somewhat fast, but lots of wait times.

Cons: High Resolution, too high to read tiny print. No stylus so you need tiny tiny fingers to navigate the Win 8 OS. I called Asus Tech Support they stated emphatically that no stylus they know of works on this touchscreen. Touchscreen therefore lacks accuracy and wastes time. I detested it.

Other Thoughts: Lousy product, unless you have the fingers of a 4 year old.
I wouldn't take this product for free. I am a desktop and network designer and builder. I use Asus main boards on every build since about 1996. I admire their main boards tremendously. I consider this product a total sham.
