3 out of 5 eggsMixed experience

Pros: Updated perfectly to 4.4.4. Good appearance and condition. Pleasant surfing and video streaming for average use. Delivery was timely. Packing, excellent. Dealing with Newegg is cool, as usual !

Cons: Not as great as expected for games, which is a major test for this type of machine. Surprisingly, the screen does not respond quickly enough... Does not freeze, just does not respond. It takes 2 or 3 sec. to react to the command at times, while you watch the catastrophe on the game with a grumble... And that delay in responding is unpredictable! Even, the desk is slow reacting at times. It feels your car does not respond to the wheel while taking a u-turn. I do not know whether the problem is with the OS update or the machine... I don't have a response problem with the desktop of my dual core mobile and current tasking (I am not using games on this one, though). The glitch on the tablet sort of spoils the good sides of the experience. So far, I am not able to get my games playing right on the tablet. In this case, I can't see the point of repeating on my tablet what I already do on my mobile

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Tablet, Great Price!

Pros: I bought this tablet as an upgrade from my 1st gen (2012) Nexus 7, which I also purchased refurbished. The upgrades to the processing power and screen resolution are definitely noticeable, and the tablet is much thinner and a bit lighter than the older model.

The first tablet that I received did have some surface scratches on the screen that I felt interfered a bit with the display. I contacted NewEgg and they promptly issued an RMA so that I could obtain a replacement item. The return process was smooth and easy, and the replacement tablet arrived in MINT condition!

Cons: First tablet had scratched screen (but replacement unit was in MINT condition, as mentioned in "Pros" section.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: My son saved up his allowance for a tablet. This one seemed to make the most sense on every level. I've got the Nexus5 and love it... so, it was an easy choice. No regrets.

Cons: No flash on the camera... what's up with that?

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I know it is a great device because I already own one

Cons: refurbished items are always skeptical and guess what?
I received a cracked corner one. wasted time.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Tablet

Pros: Pros:
-Refurbished but appeared new.
-Very fast tablet can multitask easily
-Very good graphics. Not quite as good as the T600.
-Plastic but does not appear cheap
-Sound is actually good quality and very loud if you want.

Cons: Only issue I have had is it comes with Crome as the default and Crome has crashed a few times. Not sure if that is a Crome or a tablet issue.

Other Thoughts: Best tablet for you money today.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Refurbished tablet

Pros: Obviously the cost
The battery life was very good on mine,
little to no wear unless I actively look for a small scratch
Updated to Kit Kat 4.4.4 without any problems
Did I mention good battery life?
Little to no bloatware
0 dead pixels

For the cost you can't get any better

Cons: Packaging was bare, most likely you'll get the changer and tablet. I was missing the (presumed)stylist but those are 99c at 7/11 so no big deal

Other Thoughts: I have a somewhat hard time understanding why people keep rating this down so much unless you actually have something broken on it, the thing costs nearly 100$'s less than a new nexus. It's refurbished so I am not sure why so many people are expecting a "new" device. If you want a new device fork up the extra 100 and get it new.

5 out of 5 eggsupdated review

Pros: My follow up to an earlier review. So far this tablet has done everything I expected it to do. I have GPS working now. I downloaded GPS Essentials. You need to turn GPS on and allow Advanced WIFI -scanning always available even when WIFI is turned off. I received a notice to update to 4.4.4. This is a google tablet and it integrates really well if you are a google account user. Google sync is good. But I still want an SD card. I got a Xseries Auto™ Elm327 WIFI Wirless OBD2 Car Diagnostic Reader for $20 and it is working well with Torque pro. I just have to switch my WIFI connection from my home to my car connection. Nexus 7 is reported to work well with the Audio Evolution app and connect to multitrack USB audio interfaces for recording. I have not tried it yet but I hope to soon. This is why I wish this had an HD card. I enjoy reading books on this tablet.

Cons: I bought a cheap but nice case for this tablet and it makes easier to hold or prop up but the magnet clasp effects my compass. There is no SD card and no easy way to integrate one as a system drive. There are plenty of OTG adapters for SD cards and USB sticks to hold data. But google wants to integrate you to the cloud so no integrated system disk can be added. For data logging or music recording an SD card would be ideal. But I am not subtracting a star because most tasks will work very well without an SD card. But if google did not want me to buy a Samsung Galaxy tab pro they would put an SD card slot on the Nexus!!!

Other Thoughts: I was considering getting a bluetooth keyboard but the onscreen keyboard is very sensitive and does a good enough job. I have seen reviews saying Nexus 7 turns off. Try gently prying off the back and checking the battery connection. It looks easy from the videos I have seen. Also check your settings and don't be afraid to long press the power button. I hope that helps.

1 out of 5 eggsBeware the reboots

Pros: If the tablet worked properly it has possibility for greatness

Cons: My tablet came with English / UK as the input language, and Swedish as the voice search language, it also did not have all of the data wiped...

I factory reset it to clear these problems and I still have another issue.

The device freezes up and reboots itself constantly.
I researched this and many other people have the issue.

Trying every option available to reset and restore the device, using android 4.4.2, 4.4.3, and 4.4.4 nothing helps. The only solution reported is, send the tablet in for repair or replacement, and hope it comes back ok.

I am afraid that this unit ALREADY went in for repair, and went back out the other side, un-repaired. I fear that now I am going to be stuck in a roulette wheel of bad tablets coming at me over and over again.

Other Thoughts: Especially after reading the other issues people have I am very depressed about ordering this tablet. It does not work properly now, and I fear I will only get worse ones if I try to replace it.

Usually I do not mind refurb, but it appears the nexus 7 has a bad problem already, and getting a refurb unit does not mean it is fixed.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Steve,

Thank you for the positive comment. I apologize if you started experiencing system freeze and reboot related issues with the tablet. If you need further assistance sending it in for further testing, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# 3788070 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

Rodel
