4 out of 5 eggsNice tablet, promptly shipped

Pros: Was able to delete ugly Windows and install Linux with ease.
Tablet plus keyboard makes typing easier.

Cons: Charger seems to take way too long to charge the battery.

Other Thoughts: I removed Windows and installed Ubuntu with ease.
Ubuntu is running stable, with support for all hardware except camera (so far).

2 out of 5 eggsVery clean but has Issues

Pros: Looks brand new and fired right up after unpacking. Nice screen resolution and the apps are quick-loading. No problems tying it into my home network either,

Cons: First, the tablet/laptop combo comes with NO printed documentation whatsoever, and no Windows licensing materials or CD. The manual is in electronic format and pinned to the task bar when you log-on for the first time. Next, the Windows 8.1 key does not work anymore. I had to locate mine using the MagicJellyBean keyfinder program, and even then, Windows refuses to activate and I cannot complete the 8.1 to 10 upgrade. Even worse, when prompted to purchase another key from Microsoft (which I was going to do), I get the message that the new key cannot in fact be purchased and am instead directed to go to a retail store for a hard copy of Windows (!). I contacted Asus customer support, and the best they could suggest was to reset the entire tablet, wipe everything clean, and start over, which seemed somewhat risky, with none of the original software or documentation available, so I did not do it. Not sure what to do about the Windows activation problem. Finally, like others have noted, the included battery charger is very weak, and the tablet only charges when it is asleep or shut down. Took me a while to figure that out on my own before checking the tech forums for this specific product. The tech dudes say that the Pwr+ charger available online is the solution and so I ordered one last night.

Other Thoughts: I really want to enjoy this tablet/laptop, which is very nice, but the Windows 8.1 key/activation issue is very annoying.

1 out of 5 eggsGood tablet with serious charger issues

Pros: light, portable, fast enough for light computing upgraded to windows 10 just fine.

Cons: - Charger stopped working after 2 days now only works if held at a specific angle. purchased a replacement that said was for a t100ta and it does not cause the charging light to come on.
- Drains Battery faster than it charges even when plugged in.
- Corrupted my sd card several times (multiple cards different brands and sizes)

Other Thoughts: I really want to love this tablet but the charging issue is a serious problem.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Eric,

Thank you for your time on posting this review, we are sorry to hear your experience with the ASUS T100TA-C1-GR transformer book. Please allow me to assist you.

Can we have a detailed information about the laptop's issue? have your? what are the steps that you have tried to try to fix the issue. When you are charging the laptop how is the battery charge indicator? was there any reaction with the unit when you press the power button while you are charging the unit?

5 out of 5 eggsJust as good as a SurFacePro

Pros: Its less then 200, its a Quad Core, it upgrades to 10 with no problem, 64 GIG drive is just right for Office Pro 2013 and the Solid State drive gives it a great boost of speed.

Cons: I didn't have any issues that others have complained about like the power cord, not upgrading to 10 etc. its just been a great little machine, remember its not a laptop its a tablet and should be used as such.

Other Thoughts: $175.00 are you serious this is worth 300.00

2 out of 5 eggsSadly...

Pros: Nice hardware.

Cons: windows 8.1 and locked so that you can't put something sane on it (Linux).

Putzed around with it for too long to return thus it goes in the dumpster, I would not give that to anyone I didn't explicitly hate.

Other Thoughts: I've worked with windows since v1.2 and I was utterly amazed that v8.1 is so totally horrid. Last straw....

Looks like v7 was the last reasonably sane (for m$) thing they did.

OK, henceforth, no more hardware that is unable to, at least, dual boot but preferably comes with Linux.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat Luck with ASUS Transformers until now

Pros: Fast, well designed, powerful, good graphics, runs Windows 10 with no issues. Great price.

Cons: Got this to give as a gift. I set it up for hr and the first time she tries to use it, it is dead.
I know it worked well because I upgraded it to W10.
I got it back and the charger connection on the side is lose.
If you hold the cable a certain way, it will connect with AC power. Move anything or sneeze, and you have to find that spot again.
Not the way I like my gifts to go over.

Other Thoughts: I have purchased a dozen of these ASUS refurb tablets over the couple of years from NewEgg and have had amazing good luck with all of them. One that was still under warrantee had the same issue with the side plug - I think they must have an issue with these. Or is it possible the refurb the same one i sent back and it still won't keep powered?

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for your time on posting this review, we are sorry to hear your experience with the ASUS Transformer Book. Please allow me to assist you.

First can we have the units serial number for me to check its warranty and in case I need to process an RMA for repair. When did you purchase the unit or how long do you have the unit now? ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testings and final inspections for both hardware and software before sending it out to the stores worldwide. ASUS provides warranty for the unit in order to fix or repair any isolated factory escape defect.

3 out of 5 eggsHandy Unit With Some Major Shortcomings

Pros: Great wi-fi reception, great touchscreen, good skype camera quality, good battery life, decent sound for such a small unit.

Cons: Microsoft Office not included although indicated in the ad
No forward facing camera
Has gone "blue screen" 3 times since purchased
Not near the available apps Apple offers

Other Thoughts: I had a work provided IPAD that I was really missing when I retired from that job. I just didn't want to pay the HUGE bucks for an IPAD, and did some research, finding the ASUS T-100 recommended for those used to a windows format. Taking the ad at face value (Microsoft Office installed - WRONG!) I bought the unit. Since I've had it, it's gone blue screen three times, and of course the Microsoft Office is NOT included, meaning not only do I have to purchase it, but it's only available now for internet download by annual subscription. This means users will have to pay for Microsoft Office EVERY YEAR. This kind of rip-off frustrates me to no end. I did buy the one year warranty, so at this point, I'm hoping I get through the year without it totally dying, or if it does, it happens during the warranty period. Probably should have spent the extra $$$ and bought it brand new. "Live and learn" I guess.

4 out of 5 eggsGood but not great

Pros: Excellent price for the tablet
Long battery
Easy to carry around

Cons: Poor refurbishing (volume button problems and audio jack failed)
Weak for a windows machine

Other Thoughts: Although this tablet has a great price tag, I rarely use it as it is too weak to handle most windows functions. I mostly used it for watching Netflix which was difficult given that the volume buttons don't work well and the 3.5mm audio jack crapped out on me

Manufacturer Response:
