5 out of 5 eggsGreat little touchscreen laptop

Pros: Fast and efficient. Tiny footprint.

Great laptop.

Cons: The keys on the keyboard were unexpectedly tiny...lots of fatfinger mistakes. Also, the stickon letters for using another language didn't quite fit each key...leading to some sticking of keys when depressed..

4 out of 5 eggsWell Worth the Money

Pros: - Perfect Size
- Accurate Screen
- Vivid Image
- Light Weight
- Detachable Keyboard
- Decent Battery
- Cheap
- Windows 8 (upgrade to Windows 10)
- SD Card Slot for up to 64GB
- 2GB of RAM

Cons: - Low Storage Memory
- No Soft Key for Windows Button
- No High Quality Covers (Otterbox or equivalent)

Other Thoughts: This 2-in-1 Notebook is probably the best $100 (during a sale) I've spent in a very long time. It is almost exactly what i was looking for. Nothing more to say about the Pros, but there are a few things worth mentioning with the Cons.

The low storage memory can be a big issue because the OS already takes up about 8-9 GB because of size and allocation for backups/recovery. Very little can be installed on it after that, but it does have an SD card slot for extra memory. I bought a reliable 64GB sd card for $22 and so far it's been working out pretty well.

Having no soft key for the Windows Button (brings up the start menu when pressed) is very minor con, but still worth mentioning. Most tablets provide this soft button, but with Windows 8/10, you can just touch the icon on the screen already.

Having no high quality covers can be quite a con for many. Not a big issue for myself as the back of the 2-in-1 Notebook is already made of a rubbery like material. They do make cases for it, but nothing high quality like an Otterbox.

Because of these cons, the product gets 4 eggs from me. Based on how products should be reviewed, this is still a very good rating. If you can get this cheaper than the regular price (heck, maybe even at regular price), this product is very much worth it and I wouldn't pass it up.

3 out of 5 eggsNOT SSD has Hynix HBG4e flash memory storage

Pros: I have been a NE customer for over 10 years and have ordered a lot of items and really wanted to like this but the fact that the item does not come with an SSD is why it's going back, thankfully NE is covering the return.

Cons: I just received this and it does NOT come with an SSD drive, it comes with a non upgrade able eMMC based flash storage, which shows as Hynix HBG4e . Here is some info on the eMMc; The biggest bottleneck by far is the sluggish eMMC storage, courtesy of Hynix (HBG4e). The 32GB unit does not come close to high-end SSDs, but luckily it is not as slow as one might expect from an embedded eMMC solution. Read speeds easily top 100MB/s, while write performance is limited to about 40MB/s. On phones and low-end tablets this would be great, but we just feel a lot of potential is being wasted due to relatively slow eMMC storage on the T100. I'm sending it back on NE's dime.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for Steam Streaming

Pros: This item is lightweight, has great battery life, and excellent display compared to my last net book.

After I installed steam, I booted it up and launched a game using steam home streaming. It worked great.

Cons: It has a small hard drive, which is in the specs, and the display isn't as good as many android devices I've used.

1 out of 5 eggsMine was a dud

Pros: I had nothing but problems with my T100TA, I had high hopes based off the specs. I bought a 32gb z3350 model from best buy which worked great but I returned and ordered this one because of the specs. It locks up constantly and half the time it freezes at the post screen when booting from a shutdown. The mic is muffled and people on Skype can't hear anything I say. I read forums and this model has an issue with Skype, no fix in the works. The camera zooms way in on your face then backs out and repeats this over and over again. I never found a way to control that annoying issue. The last draw was repeated freezing while in use.. Even just surfing the web the laptop locks up for about 10-30 seconds, no input works such as mouse or keyboard then suddenly it will come back to life. I did a reformat twice (reset to factory defaults) and it didn't solve any of my problems. Sad to be sending this back I really wanted it to work like the one I got from best buy which I loved.

Cons: Defective.

4 out of 5 eggsReview of Asus Transformer Book T100TA

Pros: Small, light, full version of Windows 8 with upgrade to 10 eventually.
I can run office and quicken.

Cons: not the highest internal storage, I can only sync part of my dropbox
Native screen resolution is such, that I must often scroll down when viewing web pages ot docs.

Other Thoughts: I got this at a good price as a replacement for an old heavier netbook, for use while travelling. It's good for that use. I added 64GB sd card for more storage and USB sticks are also possible. The only potential problem is the 32GB internal storage, so I have to limit my dropbox files to fit limited space. That's simple enough with selective sync. The keyboard is small but functional. The mousepad is also functional, but I've used a wireless mouse with success.
The loudspeakers could be a bit louder for streaming video, but work well enough.
I'm using it right now as a travel device to get work done (email, quicken, general Internet browsing, and am basically happy and satisfied with this purchase.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Entry Level Device and Great Refurb Value

Pros: -Really quality hardware for such an inexpensive device.
-Full Windows 8.1. This is an actual PC, not a specialised tablet.
-Trackpad works better than many much more expensive models.
-Minimal amount of bloatware that's easily uninstalled.
-Keyboard/trackpad is detachable to turn it into a full touch screen tablet.
-Mini-HDMI output.
-USB ports and SD card slot for easy external input and storage.
-The refurbished units I received looked and acted good as new.

Cons: -Despite having an SSD of sorts, this is not a speedy device. Installing things like large amounts of Windows updates takes forever.
-Keyboard is very small and could be tricky to type on quickly if you have large hands.
-Battery life isn't bad but doesn't compare to a dedicated tablet.

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these to use as inexpensive loaner units in the IT department I work in. The T100 is a fantastic entry level system that's very well made and great value, even at normal price. The discount for the refurbished units makes these astonishingly good value. The two that I bought showed up looking and running like new. They won't set the world on fire performance wise but if you don't have heavy lifting to do, they're small, light, have decent battery, are very well made hardware and they are proper PCs, not tablets with gated app stores. As long as it fits your use case, this is a great option.
