Pros: None.

Cons: The battery was dead on arrival so i never got the chance to boot it up. I sent it into be repaired and a month later they returned my money. Customer Service from Newegg was unhelpfull and never informed me of the situation until i called them.

5 out of 5 eggsFast, smooth, and powerful

Pros: Fast to use, runs all kinds of programs (I don't do a lot of high-core gaming or anything, but for how easily it handles the multiple things I'll open at once using little RAM I'm assuming it can go a long way)
Starts up, hibernates, and shuts down, and performs other functions fast
Not a lot of hassle
Comes with some nice programs, such as ASUS Web Storage
Not a lot of bloatware, and what is included easy to remove
Great features at nice price
Reliable

Cons: The SSD drive is getting used up faster than I was hoping
Laptop material gets marks easily

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop, works just as good as my 2yr old i7, but cost $200 less.

Pros: Very fast, I bought mine with an SSD so boot time is like 10 seconds. Runs all the games I play pretty easily (HotS, LoL, Rocket League, Red Alert 3, Civ 5). No noticeable lag and the wifi card seems to be holding up pretty fast.

Cons: Case feels flimsy. A bit terrified of ever dropping it.

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend it when it's on sale. As far as $800 I'd expect it to have an i7.

3 out of 5 eggsCollege Student/Gamer

Pros: The laptop is an excellent light gaming machine. I play CS:GO, hearthstone and heros of the storm with no problem, I can run these games on high settings. Keep in mind these games are not that demanding, some of the newer games will have to be played on medium to low settings to get 30 fps. This is also a very light laptop, I take it to class all the time, not mac-book air light but light enough. The boot time is only 3 seconds, the SSD really helps. This is good for student who have a lot of back to back classes and need to move around a lot. The laptop also feel sturdy, does not feel cheap at all.

Cons: My main complaint is that the space-bar key makes this squeaking noise when I press it down. ASUS is a good brand and is know for their build quality and I am very disappointed with this. One of the reasons I did not get an ACER laptop with slightly better specs was because ASUS has a better reputation for build quality. When typing in my class every time I hit the space-bar people hear the squeaking noise and its a bit embarrassing. I hope I can get some assistance with this issue. Other than the laptop being a fingerprint magnet I really like. I had to give it an 3 start because it came defective when it reached my door (obnoxious squeaking noise from space-bar) If anyone knows a solution to this issue I would greatly appreciate it.

4 out of 5 eggsWireless issues

Pros: Overall the laptop has been a great success. It plays rift and other games on full setting with almost no issues.

Cons: The wireless on this thing... just horrible. I should have paid more attention to the "AC" part of the wireless card. It will connect to my DLINK DIR-655 but at a REALLY slow speed. I was getting 0.5 Mbps on a network that should be delivering 30-50Mbps. Plugged in a cheap usb wifi and back up to speed. EZ fix for a cheap integrated wifi

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value!

Pros: Nvidia GeForce GTX 950m: can run guild wars 2 medium high settings with around 40-50 fps, I'm not too sure about other games though

Back-light chiclet keyboard (3 levels of brightness): very comfortable and doesn't make loud typing noises; also the up, down keys are not squished together like what you see in some models

1080p display: there are cons to this as well below

Power Button: I just like how it's different and separated from the rest of the keys so I don't accidentally press it (also looks pretty cool)

SSD: amazing boot time; start-up takes about 7 seconds, with opening first application ( being around 12s; this means you never have to sleep on this PC

Built: feels very sturdy, no keyboard flexing at all, not too much screen flexing, screen is opened with a single "bar" in the middle instead of 2 hinges (which makes it much more durable)

Speakers: surprisingly loud and clear despite their sizes; although they're rear facing, it doesn't really distort the sound at all. Also Asus comes a software that can alter the sounds to your liking, pretty cool.

Temperature: despite being aluminum brushed, never had a problem with keys or palm areas being too hot

Weight: less than 5 pounds means you shouldn't develop back problems

Thickness: about the same as a dime's height

Cost: I got it around $650 while on sale, but I think even at $800 it is still very worth, since you will not find many competitors that offers SSD AND decent graphic cards @ 4.5 pounds

Cons: The outside cover of the computer loves attracting your finger print; could be annoying if you want to keep your computer looking new

Noise: when idle makes very little noises, although sometimes for no reason it will ramp up; when gaming, this PC is the loudest I have ever gotten; you can easily hear it even in another room

Display: not touch screen; doesn't have great viewing angles; however, if you're planning on using this computer to game, it isn't bad at all, since you'll be directly facing the computer

Software: comes with quite some bit considering they install it on your SSD and it will only be 128gb; not a big problem though; just delete them.

Camera: not good at all, has massive delay and not clear; so if I don't recommend Skype with this; however you can just use your phone if you really have to.

Other Thoughts: The below could be a con/pro depending on you personal preferences:

1. the texture at the palm areas are quite rough; despite being brushed aluminum, it is not polished which mean it sometimes leaves my skin cells on the PC (eww!)

2. Headphone port is on the right side, which means if you plug your mouse on the right side as well, it will get crowded

3. Mouse-pad: this is something you'll have to try out yourself; for me, it is pretty responsive; however, if you like to click down to select instead of lightly double-tapping, it makes a REALLY loud click. The 2-finger scrolling works perfectly fine

4. comes with 1 terabyte of storage which is more than enough; however, keep in mind it is 5200 rpm (doesn't affect boot speed at all though)

5. if you're moving from 720p to 1080p, the font sizes are much smaller; just something to get used to.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overall, I would strongly recommend this PC to people who like to play video games and are on budgets; I was worried that the i5 will hold back the GTX 950m; however, it barely did. I did not try this out on a lot of games, so please do some research. Newegg also offers a same model with an i7 5500 and 256 SSD (no 1tb storage); you can look into that as well. The build quality is amazing and I can definitely use it for years to come. Keep in mind that despite all the cons that I listed, if you truly intend to use this PC primarily for casual work (idk about Photoshop), videos, and gaming, factors like noise, narrow-angle display, and the Mouse-pad shouldn't hold you back, since I assume you'll be using earphones/ separate mouse, and looking straight at the display. If you are not a gamer though, you can probably find better value PCs since a large chunk of the money goes into the graphic cards.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat computer

Pros: This computer is loaded with good components from i5 to 8gb of ram 128 ssd 1tb hdd, NVidia gtx950 2gb. Backlit keyboard. aluminum body. good looks. stays cool. you wont find a better computer at this price.

Cons: You have to angle the screen forward or backward for it to looks its best. but that's not hard to do so not really that big of a deal.

5 out of 5 eggsAsus K501L(x) i5 Windows 10

Pros: Great laptop very fast once you dump Windows 10! Windows 8 or Xubuntu make it run like a champ! You can install any OS you like via one of the USB ports. I see lots of people that didn't read the spec's where is clearly says NO DVD/CD rom. I think DVD/Blueray/CD's should have been retired 10 years ago. USB is so much faster! :) Plays most Steam & Origin games NP but remember it is a laptop. (Running Windows 8 Pro) :) If you want mass frame rates, host games with all your friends... It's not going to compete with a i7, 32+gigs fo DDR4 and 1, 2, 3 or 4 video cards! I bought one and had friends buy them, I setup 5 of these all without a single problem. :) Also great for running Adobe Photoshop (2 gig VIDEO CARD), video editing...

Cons: Comes with Windows 10 major let down in memory and drive speed. Backlit keyboard isn't lit up until you log into windows. You need to buy a copy of Windows 8 Pro (cheaper than the upgrade to Windows 10 Pro where you can shut most of the tracking off)

Other Thoughts: "Asus" add the backlit to the bios, then it will work on all OS's and you can see the keys before you login. Windows 8 Pro backlit lights up before the password when you wake from sleep, Windows 10 no lights until you login. ESC will let you choose boot device, (install with USB) F2 will get you into the bios :) If you dump Windows 10 and install a faster OS Windows 8 NOT Windows 8.junk Just download the drivers for K501LX for Windows 8.1. Windows 8 Pro memory speeds Read 20,930, Write 23,765, Copy 21,199, Lat 71.3 (slowest of three) Windows 10 Home memory speeds Read 20,800, Write 23,702, Copy 21,173, Lat 74.9 (slowest of three). Windows 8 Pro SSD speeds Min 254.8 MB/s, Max 514.3 MB/s, Avg 359.7 MB/s. Windows 10 Home SSD
speeds Min 248.3 MB/s, Max 480.8 MB/s, Avg 357.3 MB/s. Free Memory after restart Windows 8 Pro 7,144 gigs, Windows 10 Home 5,880 gigs. On one I installed Xubuntu dual boot with Windows 8 Pro (No blacklit keyboard xubuntu - YET) Xubuntu of course on the SSD always put the faster OS on the faster drive. Re-partition the 1 TB drive leaving about 120 gigs free on the front
of the drive and install Windows 8 Pro there. Install Windows first then Ubuntu, then Xubuntu or any distro you like. I like Xubuntu very easy for most people. :)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat piece of hardware

Pros: Honestly everything about this laptop is better than my previous one. I got this on black friday for $590, and as of right now I dont regret my decision at all. After a few tweaks this laptop is great for the money.

Cons: Really the only things I can think of for the cons would be dealing with bloatware. No one likes going on a cleaning spree but it's a given in most situations. The other thing would maybe be the screen for viewing angles, but aside from those couple of things I'm loving it so far.

Other Thoughts: Be sure to properly get rid of any bloatware and manage your SSD appropriately.

4 out of 5 eggsClass A? Eh... Solid B.7-ish

Pros: So, it's a nice laptop. I'll give it those props. The laptop can handle a lot of the earlier games. I can play Skyrim, Civ, and have a couple of others I want to try. However, the laptop can only take so much. First off, I will admit I made a mistake. I bought the lower 5500 processor, not the 6500, and that will take the Ghz from 2.7 to 2.2. So, first, make sure you get the better laptop. You might be able to play a lot more of the AAA titles. The graphics card can handle most games, and everything about it feels nice, sleek, and finished. The fact that it has Windows 10 is a nice touch. I use my own mouse, but when I use the mouse pad on occasion, it has an easy feel. No CD drive, but whatever. It's a nice laptop. What more is there to say?

Cons: So, evidently, it's not going to be a monster of a machine, not for $800 dollars (5500 processor). While it can play a lot of games, again, the bigger games are going to be a bit out of reach. That, or bring it to it's knees as it burns itself out to give you what you want. I haven't done this, and I don't advise this. But, if you wanna take the risk... all up to you. It's not any of the big gaming companies, so don't expect much. Just expect enough.
Game.
Set.
Match.

Other Thoughts: Buy the i6500...
