4 out of 5 eggsAwesome powerful laptop, but some minor problems

This review is from: ASUS ROG G752VT-DH72 G-Sync Gaming Laptop 6th Generation Intel Core i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) 16 GB Memory 1 TB HDD 128 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 3 GB GDDR5 17.3" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

Pros: Super fast boot up, super fast in any task. amazing G-sync, nice little app for monitoring gpu and cpu performance and heat.
Played wow at ultra 60+ frames, played GW2 at high 60+ (a little lower around 40-50 in cities) TF2.. well you know. pretty easy to run it on a low end computer, so it did amazing on this thing.
The GPU is the equivalent to a gtx960 desktop version

The thing stays nice and perfect most of the time with gpu and cpu reaching from 32C on standby or regular online activities to 42-52C so the thing is nice and comfortable on your lap

looks beautiful

Cons: The speakers on the laptop sound really weird if you haven't updated the BIOS and without updating the BIOS the geforce experince app to update your GPU won't work. so if someones new to the whole PC thing it can be interpreted as DOA (dead on arrival) and sent back to newegg, so they're basically sending back a perfectly good laptop.

the edge below the keyboard is a little too edgy, that could be softened or rounded a little better.

the audio jack is on the right side of the laptop, so if you use a wired headset the wires can get in the way of the mouse.

3-4 hour battery life. I'm not sure if this is a battery technology limitation but yeah, make sure to plug it in every now and again

Other Thoughts: I would definitely recommend this laptop to anyone who wants a really nice smooth running game buffing laptop.

It's really BIG despite how it looks in the picture, so make sure you have a big laptop bag... mine definitely didn't fit into my bag.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good!!

This review is from: ASUS ROG G752VT-DH72 G-Sync Gaming Laptop 6th Generation Intel Core i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) 16 GB Memory 1 TB HDD 128 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 3 GB GDDR5 17.3" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

Pros: a very fast and amazing machine I use it to edit video's and play games and it hols up!! the fans really keep the system cool and its also truly a beautiful looking laptop for those who have never see it in person.

Cons: so gonna give this 4 stars because where you rest your wrist it actually cuts into your wrist even though its rubber its thick and edged this is a very bad design!!! so watch out how high you sit!!! they should of made a rounded design in this area I have also seen other reviewers mention this problem.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this laptop!

This review is from: ASUS ROG G752VT-DH72 G-Sync Gaming Laptop 6th Generation Intel Core i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) 16 GB Memory 1 TB HDD 128 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 3 GB GDDR5 17.3" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

Pros: 1. This is purely opinion but i love the new look.
2. Runs pretty much anything you throw at it with ease.
3. Absolutely fantastic screen.
4. Not a bad price for what you get.

Cons: Had this ordered on black friday. It arrived with a speck of dead pixels in the middle of the screen. I was disappointed but hey it happens i guess. I re ordered another and when it arrived the top of the IPS panel wasnt shut and sealed. It was open. I was frustrated but i was able to snap and seal the two panels like its supposed to be. But really?

Okay so getting past that after playing it for a few weeks i noticed in some instances playing games off the charger the refresh rate starts slowing down. And the panel starts flashing noticeably. Not getting enough power to power the screen but it only last a few minutes. This used to happen to my girlfriends desktop monitor.

Lastly, the red lighting on the buttons...why? It has a silver copper theme now. Orange lighting yet they used the same Asus red lit keyboard. It throws off the theme. It should have been the same orange color as the glowing back.

Other Thoughts: Overall if you are interested in a affordable yet well built designed laptop with 970m graphics its worth spending the money on this Asus. You wont regret it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop, for gaming and any other high powered computing needs

This review is from: ASUS ROG G752VT-DH72 G-Sync Gaming Laptop 6th Generation Intel Core i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) 16 GB Memory 1 TB HDD 128 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 3 GB GDDR5 17.3" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

Pros: I spent an extensive amount of time searching for a new laptop. I am a retired software engineer, and still regularly spend 8 hours a day on my computer. Obviously, a system tailored to exactly what I want/need is a high priority.

Overall, this is an exceptional piece of hardware. After using it daily for a month and a half, I am very pleased with the system.

The highlights:

- The cooling system is what sets this computer apart from the generic computer comprised of the standard off the shelf components. Lab tests showed that this system would run at least 18 degrees F cooler than the next best system, and experiencing it in person verifies this. A lot of gaming laptops run very hot, which is bad for the components as well as being uncomfortable to use. The keyboard on this system is room temperature.

- This system is very quiet, to the point that you can barely hear the fans running.

- The display is beautiful beyond belief.

- The performance crushes every task I have thrown at it to this point. I am sure there is some game played at max settings which would tax its capabilities but for everything else the system will be completely unfazed.

It seems that there were problems for some of the systems first manufactured, as you can see from the earliest reviews. For the most part, I have not experienced those problems. It seems like they have been (for the most part) corrected.

Cons: The one commonly noted problem I did experience was that G-Sync was not enabled on the system upon arrival. An RMA was not required to resolve this. Simply going into the BIOS and flipping one setting fixed the problem completely.

The biggest con the computer has is that the keyboard has red letters on black keys. I assume this was a stylistic choice, but it was poorly thought out. I am a touch typist, but the key spacing is slightly different than the key spacing on my prior system. It took a while to adjust (and I am not quite finished yet). Finding the keys by sight would be impossible for me without the keyboard back lighting. I have it on 100% of the time at max brightness, and it is still annoying. Without the back lighting, I would have returned this system as completely unusable.

The other major cons are well known. It is big and heavy. Neither one is a serious problem for me, although I wouldn't want to carry it around more than a few times a day. The battery life is short, and their is no Optimus support, so the video card never stops pulling power.

Other Thoughts: I flat out love this system, and people who know me tell me that I am pretty demanding.

Fix the lettering on the keyboard to white please. Also, some symbols (the period, the comma, the quote, etc) are strangely smaller than the alphanumeric characters, and should be increased in size. It is exceptionally puzzling that the biggest problem with this laptop is the appearance of characters on the keyboard. This is basic technology which predates computers and goes back all the way to the earliest type writers. Some things are done for a reason, and should not be changed without understanding why the original choice was made.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat upgade from my last ASUS

This review is from: ASUS ROG G752VT-DH72 G-Sync Gaming Laptop 6th Generation Intel Core i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) 16 GB Memory 1 TB HDD 128 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 3 GB GDDR5 17.3" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

Pros: ASUS has the best cooling system in any laptop in my opinion.
The design is amazing. It definintely turns heads.
The specs live up to what you would expect from them.

Cons: Speakers are underneath the computer. If you use external speakers then this doesn't matter but it's just different for me.

Other Thoughts: All in all, it's a great upgrade from my previous laptop which is an ASUS G74S.

3 out of 5 eggsPretty good, but it'll go back to the store

This review is from: ASUS ROG G752VT-DH72 G-Sync Gaming Laptop 6th Generation Intel Core i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) 16 GB Memory 1 TB HDD 128 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 3 GB GDDR5 17.3" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

Pros: - Great value for the price. I was looking for i7 + 16GB + SSD and this was the best option.
- Decent audio quality.

Cons: But:
- When music plays the touch pad buttons vibrate and make pretty annoying and loud noise (can be fixed with gum or glue gun, hehe)
- Quite big space between buttons. I simply cannot use some hotkey combinations I've been using for years on different keyboard (Ctrl + Alt + B, for example)
- I don't like all those "Republic of gamers" labels and bootscreen everywhere (yeah, this is kind of gaming laptop, but still)
- I tested 3 my favorite mice, but none of them was able to work on the laptops surface, so I pretty much cannot put the laptop on my knees and use the mouse. And this is the main reason why I'm returning the laptop today.

Other Thoughts: If you fix the touch pad buttons, change surface so that mice work on it and remove "Republic of Gamers" labels - this laptop will be a killer. Well, also a little bit bigger SSD won't hurt (instead of CD/DVD which nobody use these days).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Machine

This review is from: ASUS ROG G752VT-DH72 G-Sync Gaming Laptop 6th Generation Intel Core i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) 16 GB Memory 1 TB HDD 128 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 3 GB GDDR5 17.3" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

Pros: Solid system specs and does a great job. Runs way better than my former desktop. the GPU sites rated 970M on par with the R9 that was in my desktop but with minimal tweaking this way out performs it. Stays cool without fail, even in gamer mode with the settings on high. Great desk top replacement.

Cons: Its big and kind of heavy.

Other Thoughts: Awesome for World of Warcraft and Tomb raider.

1 out of 5 eggsAwesome Product with deceiving Features...

This review is from: ASUS ROG G752VT-DH72 G-Sync Gaming Laptop 6th Generation Intel Core i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) 16 GB Memory 1 TB HDD 128 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 3 GB GDDR5 17.3" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

Pros: Laptop is just amazing quiet and powerful, but they should NOT advertise you will be getting a LIFETIME XSPLIT ACCOUNT, when you will not get that... it clearly states... XSplit Gamecaster
ROG G752 comes with a lifetime XSplit Gamecaster account for you to record or stream games. All it takes it one keystroke for you to get into it and stream your gaming session to the world!""

SO BECAUSE OF THIS I WILL RETUNR THIS PRODUCT ASAP UNLESS I GET CONTACTED OR GET WHAT I PAID FOR...

Cons: XSPLIT WILL NOT BE LIFETIME PREMIUM, just a free account that you will have for a lifetime unless you pay for their lifetime premium...

WILL BE RETURNING THIS LAPTOP IF I DONT GET THIS SORTED OUT....

5 out of 5 eggsOverclocking Must

This review is from: ASUS ROG G752VT-DH72 G-Sync Gaming Laptop 6th Generation Intel Core i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) 16 GB Memory 1 TB HDD 128 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 3 GB GDDR5 17.3" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

Pros: GTX 970M almost out performs 980M with an subtle overclock (1250Mhz core +300Mhz memory), see description

Panel is only 75Hz but I've had two of these panels overclock to 100Hz easy (use nvidia control panel custom resolutions)

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: I purchased the G752VT-RH72, its the same model without the m.2 ssd (which I put my own samsung SM951 into) from a NEX

I made a custom bios to a 1202Mhz boost clock and +200Mhz on the memory using maxwell bios modder. I highly suggest you check the ASIC using gpu-z (mine is 75.7%) and pushing the GPU as far as the stock bios lets you, if that stock bios works mod the boost clock to that speed if its 100% stable (ensure w/e boost clock you set is using the +13Mhz button and that you change all the 1038 values in 'boost states' to that new value). For this laptop's thermal design, the core only ever hit 70C with no additional cooling w/ <1V on the core with the +135Mhz that the bios lets you apply, so even with a lower ASIC i would attempt some overclock only because a maxwell gpu running at <1100Mhz is ridiculous when every single maxwell gpu I own (750 ti, 980, titan x) all easily hit 1500Mhz with <1.3V core. I am however not responsible for damage to components, simply a suggestion to get more out of the hardware you bought.
