4 out of 5 eggsGood performance for the price, had some issues though

Pros: Good performance/price
Solid construction, doesn't feel flimsy
I'm fine with the aesthetics, even if the yellow lid is a little loud

Cons: Had some quality control issues, detailed below
The left and right buttons on the trackpad are one solid piece, I'd prefer distinct buttons or other tactile clues to easily tell where your fingers are on it without looking.

Other Thoughts: I've had this product about 3-4 months now. I immediately upgraded mine to Windows 8.1 Professional when I got mine, without testing the system first. I point this out because it's possible this was the cause of the subsequent driver issues I had, but I doubt it as I found others with similar issues. Upgrading both the Intel HD 4600 drivers and the Nvidia GTX 770m drivers resolved this. It was necessary to upgrade both because of the way Nvidia's Optimus technology works. Once this was done the system worked fine.

It worked for two months, at least. The GPU failed during the burn in period which necessitated a warranty claim. I haven't seen others complain about this, so I might have simply been one of the (un)lucky few this will simply always happen to. Anyway, I filed a tech support ticket on their website, answered two questions, and was referred to their warranty claims to request an RMA. One 5 minute phone call later and it was handled. The system was fixed without a hassle and without resetting it to factory which saved me a day or two setting it back up. I included a sheet with necessary system information, temporary administrator name and password, and information about the issue and troubleshooting steps I had taken. This probably affected it not being reset to factory. The new GPU is still in its burn in period, so if I have a problem with it too, It will certainly cause me to revise my rating.

Anyway I had some issues as you can see, but the first was fairly minor and the second was handled satisfactorily. Working with Gigabyte's tech support and warranty claims was also a smooth process with no complaints from me. Everything else has been a pleasure with this system. I researched laptops in the $1000-$1500 range when I bought this one for $1400, and it was certainly one of the best value systems from a price/performance perspective in that range. I dock it 1 star for obvious reasons, but I would easily recommend the system to anyone that needs a laptop with some muscle and is comfortable with resolving a driver issue on their own.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid and Well-Rounded

Pros: * Extremely comfortable and responsive keyboard (with backlight)
* Amazing hard drive storage capabilities (2 x mSATA and 1 x HDD)
* Boots as fast as expected
* Creative vent placement that seems to be rather effective
* Creative and effective power management (you can right click any executable and select which graphics device you want to run it on)
* The 8 GB of RAM that comes with the system is a SINGLE stick, which means in order to upgrade to 16 GB, I only have to buy another 8 GB stick (as opposed to replacing 2 x 4 GB sticks with 2 x 8 GB sticks)

Cons: * Updating to Windows 8.1 was a pain in the rear-end (you have to uninstall all video drivers prior to running the Windows 8.1 update)

Other Thoughts: * If you put a little bit of effort into it, Windows 8 can actually be quite nice, even without a touchscreen.
* When trying to play the game Rust, my laptop was using the integrated graphics by default. After fiddling with some NVIDIA settings, all of my games now utilize my dedicated graphics card.
* Battery life seems good but only if you manage it will with good power management settings and mindfulness.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA - We'll see how the next one does

Pros: Seemed like a really nice laptop for the few minutes I got to use it before putting it back in the box to ship back to Newegg.

Cons: Dead pixel - nice bright orange dot in the top right corner of the display.

Other Thoughts: I'm shipping it back to newegg for exchange. I may update the review later.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat computer, would definitely recommend it!

Pros: Pretty much everything, especially the SSD, improves bootspeed and program operations immensely.

Cons: When i first got it the internet would not stay connected for longer than 1 minute, reinstall and update the wifi drivers and it works perfect.

Other Thoughts: If it were offered in different colors it would be much better since my school's colors are orange and black and our rivals are yellow and black.. (not really a big deal, i put a carbon fiber white mesh over the back)

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: Plays all of the games maxed. COD black ops 2, Civ 5, etc maxed in 1080p. Fast computing and everything you would look for in a gaming laptop. It's super thin as well.

Cons: Okay there are some cons though. The space bar... if you dont hit it perfectly, you will not activate it. That's super annoying. The touch pad is crummy too. Had to get a mouse but it's a gaming laptop so I needed one anyway. Also it takes forever to load the Gigabyte software after a shut down and you cant connect to WIFI until that loads. But once it's loaded everythings good!

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend this but look check out some other reviews of different ones. I love it now but those things kinda annoyed me.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply awesome

Pros: - The i7 4700MQ in combination with the GTX 770m provide exceptional performance.
- MSATA SSD 128GB storage
- Unit is light and surprisingly thin for the power it backs
- Stays cool to the touch even under load
- Price/performance ratio is excellent
- Optimus Technology provides decent battery life
- Display is very bright and vibrant
- Backlit keyboard
- Keyboard does not flex when typing on it, also provides a fullsize keyboard, while also being very responsive
- Surprisingly compact power brick

Cons: - Trackpad is very average
- Windows 8
- Only 2 USB 3.0 ports
- Unified left/right click button on touchpad is awkward to use.
- Rubberized palm rest would of been nice
- 5400RPM 1TB HDD, although this is easily remedied.
- Love it or hate it yellow color scheme

Other Thoughts: I've been in search for a very long time for a laptop that offered a good balance of weight/performance while retaining a 15.6inch screen or smaller, that would also provide exceptional graphics. The GTX 770M included is absolutely nothing to dismiss, it offers graphical performance near a desktop GTX 650/650Tii.

This laptop is replacing my Asus G53SX1, while that laptop was good it was way too bulky and overall felt extremely cheap and fell apart a little over 2 years after I bought it. While that laptop had good cooling, the weight distribution of the heatsink/battery being on the back end provided for a very uneven distribution of weight, and it felt awkward carrying it around in a backpack since one side weighed a lot more than the other half. The power brick was also so large it became kind of annoying to carry around. While Asus have made improvements since then to their laptop line up, I cannot help but feel burned for spending the sum that I did only to have it fall apart the way it did.

Since then, I've been looking for a laptop that had a chassis designed for good cooling and one that had a good build quality overall. Did I mention the display that comes with this unit is gorgeous?

When I saw this unit I instantly fell in love with the placement of its internals and the dedicated cooling for the CPU/GPU. Its amazing how cool this unit remains to the touch, CPU and GPU both stay under 65C which is more than comfortable. While the fans are a bit audible while the laptop is stressed I don't feel like its loud enough to ever be an issue.

The sound has a little bit to be desired but at the same time I don't really care a great bit about this, while it is loud, turning the volume up to higher levels makes for some messy sound. I always typically use earbuds/heaphones so like I said this is something I don't really care a great deal about.

Battery life is also somewhat decent, around 3 - 4 hours under normal use. While gaming obviously this will shorten battery life dramatically but you probably won't be gaming off battery anyway.

For $1500, I would say this laptop is the perfect for someone who wants to stay very mobile but have something that offers exceptional performance without breaking your back. This laptop feels very sturdy, and has been an absolute joy to use. I'm still blown away that something this good came from Gigabyte. I feel like they really did their homework for the most part in delivering a very solid product. I don't think any other laptop comes close to reaching the level of quality that this delivers, especially for what it cost.

I am absolutely in love Gigabyte, I've been searching for a laptop like this for a very long time and while I was iffy at first, I am totally convinced that this is as good as it gets. This is the best 15.6" laptop without a doubt. Finally someone gets it. $1500 well spent.

TLDR: Looking for a high quality 15.6" laptop that offers exceptional performance? This is the

5 out of 5 eggsGigabyte P25w

Pros: great value for the money with the hardware it has and the weight. Same price as other brands but has extra 128 Gb SSD and is lighter.
GTX 770M ,128gb SSD, 2.3 KG, 86WHR battery. full size keyboard, no bloatware beside the MS office trial.

Cons: the lid color ( yellow submarine) and the silver rims of the display lid make it look cheap( no need to deduct any eggs as i knew what i am buying - ill get some carbon skin and wrap the yellow lid).
MOST IMPORTANT ONS IS WINDOWS 8( is C@#%^.) waiting for free upgarde to 8.1 when is released.

Other Thoughts: It does not come with an antivirus program installed.
Even if is made mostly of plastic its built quality is good ( coming from a macbook pro)
the fans get loud when gaming but not unbearable anyway i game with a headset.

temperatures are ok only game i tested so far until i install steam was Crysis 2 with 55 fps at ultra settings, and average of 69°C-CPU and 63°C-GPU . The laptop does not get hot very hot on the bottom part and while gaming on a desk has good ventilation due to higher battery legs.
PCMARK 7 - 5607 points. ALL CPU cores stay around 3,3 Ghz when plugged in.
Do not turn on the Gigabyte SmartManager - Smart Cooling on wile gaming- it will throttle your CPU to 1.5 Ghz and decrease the performance but is good wile running on battery as its saves power..
Overall a very good buy- i was debating between P25W - and other brands/barebones with same specs. I chose this one for the weight , battery and the extra SSD all for same price.
