5 out of 5 eggsSolid Ultrabook

Pros: I love having the SSD and Nvidia dedicated graphics card, I can do just about anything I need with this laptop. It's fast, easy to use, and powerful.

Cons: The main thing that I really wanted when looking for a laptop was battery life; I generally don't want to have to be plugged in all of the time. However, my list of requirements that I made included a dedicated graphics card and i7 processor, so I was basically asking for a normal battery life (kinda have to blame myself here). In the end, I don't really mind having to charge every 4 (or so) hours for what I normally use my ultrabook, but battery life is always something that I wish could be longer.

Other Thoughts: A lot of people say that the touchpad bothers them, personally I don't mind it at all. It works perfectly fine for me, and I actually prefer touchpads normally (except gaming of course).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product!

Pros: Thin
Fast
Beautiful

Cons: Lower battery life
somewhat temperamental multi touch gestures
screen has random bright plumes at the bottom sometimes, can be seen with black screen

Other Thoughts: Overall this is a great product with just a few very minor issues that should not dissuade you from buying it.

4 out of 5 eggsIt would have been insanely awesome but....

Pros: The GPU (keep it in mind it is very powerful for a laptop)
The 128GB SSD
The weight
The picture quality(haven't come across any dead pixel..yet)

Cons: The Wireless network card(or software)
The build quality(it is not poor but definitely not great)
The power brick size
The slots are shallow(both USB and SD card).

Other Thoughts: For its price it is a great laptop. For this price Razer or Alienware cannot compete with this product. But keep it in mind that there is a reason behind the lower price and it probably is the build quality. No one would ever be able to tell that this is a power machine just by holding and using(normal/everyday) it. Then again, the point of Bruce Wayne is to hide the fact that he is Batman.

I have had one minor issue as of now. Sometimes (about one out of 15 times) when I turn on the computer the wireless network stays on for a second and then turns itself off. Nothing big if you are okay with pressing Fn and then the corresponding function key to turn it on.

The picture quality is phenomenal. I have not operated any of the new mac books with immensely high resolution. But I can guarantee you that you will exist in the world of hyper reality if you watch any 4k video on this laptop. And most games I play ...did not know they had the capability to look this good. I guess I am getting spoiled.

I am kinda indifferent about the fan noise issue. I had an HP before and that thing was loud. This machine can get even louder when you are going crazy with it, which is understandable for the powerhouse it has under the hood. Then again when you are just browsing and working on word the machine is so quiet that you can hear a pin drop( and also the noise the standard HDD's pin moving around)

I still intend to keep a close eye on the product till it pops any new issue. I hope that if that happens happens, it happens before I am done with the 30 day return time

2 out of 5 eggsDead pixel and loud

Pros: -Small & light
-Quick
-Games decently well

Cons: -DEAD PIXEL almost right in the middle of the screen.
-Noisy fans
-Poor sound quality

Other Thoughts: I got a high priced laptop because I needed a portable gaming machine for a summer job I have lined up.
Little did I know that after lightly using the laptop over about two months (mostly downloading programs and games) to prepare for the summer it would produce a big black dot right near the middle of the screen.
That is the main reason I gave my old monitor away.
The warranty only covers 30days if there are 3+ black spots.
AVOID.

3 out of 5 eggsFantastic Concept, Mediocre Execution

Pros: This should be a fantastic laptop. It's thin and light, has an awesome screen, an great graphics card, SSD, USB 3.0 and more. It's mostly metal, beautiful (looks nothing like a Macbook, IMHO). Great (sounding) warranty (2-years) that covers dead pixels (technically for 30-days only). There's a lot of potential here.

Cons: The quality control is hit or miss. The keyboard frequently doubles up on keystrokes, which is annoying for typing and sucks when it happens in game. I've had many a Magica combo blown because it registers two key-presses so frequently.

The touchpad isn't flush, it rises up in one corner, and the button droops on one side. There are little bumps on the seams, and some of the keyboard screws are loose. Also, the LCD panel wasn't centered, leading to a black line down one side.

It also has a VGA port - maybe not a con in your book, but why not display-port or miniDVI with an adapter?

Also, the customer support is lacking. I sent my machine in for a dead pixel repair, and the machine came back damaged. I called and sent photos, but no one will respond, other than to say I should contact another department who won't pick up the phone. Not sure what I'm going to do on that, but I'm probably not going to get a Gigabyte product again unless I know I won't need Customer Service.

Other Thoughts: This could be a great notebook, but it falls short in too many areas especially given the premium price tag. Make sure to read through the forums on notebookreview to see what folks there are saying. Maybe wait for the gen 2 version that was just announced.

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful

Pros: Good battery life when using the integrated graphics card.
Very sleek profile, great for a professional setting.
Very easy to switch to windows 7 64 bit. All drivers are available from gigabyte and work perfectly.
Beautiful display, surprisingly sturdy construction.
Easily mistaken for a macbook pro when open, but substantially better gaming performance in side by side comparisons I have conducted at lan parties.
Excellent hard drive performance and sizes. Very fast boot/OS SSD, and substantially larger secondary drive for storage. I actually run most of my games from the secondary hard drive and they work perfectly well for my purposes. I am also very happy to not be burdened by a pointless optical drive!
HDMI and VGA ports make connecting to projectors for work presentations a breeze!

Cons: Low battery life when using the secondary GPU, but that is to be expected for this machine, and you should really plug into a wall anytime you want to use that card.
This GPU will still slow down and chug along if you try to play games at high settings, or if you are sitting in bed to play, and don't give the fans room to properly exhaust the hot air from the card.

Other Thoughts: The perfect laptop for me. I needed something that would look professional around the office, but still be able to entertain me while I am at home or traveling.
Ideal for playing games on low settings when you are on the road and don't have access to a proper rig.

5 out of 5 eggsSwitched from MacBook Pro

Pros: Light and portable, Fast boot and processing speed, Great performance/Value. Matte hi-resolution screen. Great gaming rig. Very useful manufacturer computer management software utility.

Cons: Power supply lacks elegance and magnetic connector. Would like a faster GPU option or more VRAM.

Other Thoughts: I switched from a15" i7 Macbook pro and I enjoy getting high perfomance in a very compact and light form factor. I use it for on-location photography capture and editing and like the screen. Once calibrated, it is a compromise free experience.

My main gripe is: The Power Supply. It's the only thing I miss from my MacBook. The lack of a magnetic breakaway connection makes me worry that one day the laptop will end up on the floor from tripping on the PS cord.

Gigabyte's computer management utility has a lot of options for managing performance and battery life. You can get much more battery life by setting performance to "Low" and reducing screen brightness. With these setting battery life is almost 3.5 hours using Photoshop and Capture software.

While not as robust as a desktop for gaming, the GPU is adequate for the Games I play (BF3 and BF4).

4 out of 5 eggsA solid laptop that bridges the gap between portability and performance.

Pros: Keyboard - The keyboard is well constructed and although it suffers from a little flex in some very specific area you would never notice without looking for it. The keys are tactile, and feel great when typing.

Performance - This thing will play popular games that some desktop PCs would struggle with. LA Noire, Planetside 2, the Battlefield series, ARMA 3. In games not so demanding you will be able to run at 1080p on high-ultra settings, and this thing didn't break a sweat (source engine games like TF2 and DOTA for instance). On games I listed 720p on high-ultra settings.

Screen - The screen is high resolution, the backlight is fairly even, and the color gamut is good. There -are- some downsides to the screen though which I will list in the cons area.

Ports - A crapton of them. HDMI, 4 USB, VGA, ethernet, and a card reader. This is a portable laptop with plenty of ports.

Build quality - The build quality is good, and great in the places it matters. There is no flex or squeak to this laptop and the screen hinges are strong and sturdy. The top and keyboard area of this laptop have a sort of premium feeling. The bottom is made of plastic. This won't compare in build quality to an Apple computer or the Razer Blade, but most of these things are cosmetic/optional such as the touchpad, and I don't particularly like where the plug for the power is inserted. Overall I would say the build quality is good on this laptop, with a little extra polish I could have called it great.

Size, shape, and silhouette - This laptop is light enough to easily and comfortably carry under your arm. Although the Macbook Air and other lighter ultrabooks might outclass it in this department this laptop has one of the best size/performance ratios I have ever seen. It's shape and design are simple and unassuming, there are no massive LEDS or fan ports that look like spaceship thrusters to be found.

Cooling - Very good. To some this might be a con, but these fans can get loud and move a LOT of air. This to me is a pro. The laptop has yet to get more than warm to the touch on the wrist rests, and even the bottom of the laptop remains fairly cool. I would not set the bottom of this laptop on my skin, but the same could be said about a lot of computers including my Macbook Air.

Cons: Touchpad - This is the biggest con for me. Coming from a Mac this touchpad does not compare, but seeing as I am usually using a mouse this doesn't hurt me too much. The touchpad is NOT unusable, but it is definitely decidedly average.

Screen - The matte screen creates a VERY subtle rainbow effect on pure white. I have seen this with other matte screens as well. You are only likely to find it if you are really looking for it, and I do not notice in my day-to-day usage.

I don't think I have spent quite long enough with this laptop to expose all it's niggles, so I will update this section if anything changes.

5 out of 5 eggsNice, thin gaming laptop

Pros: -Stylish professional look. Black and silver accents are understated.
-Port selection is perfect for work setting. VGA and hdmi out makes projector compatibility a non-issue
-Great screen. Matte 1080p screen with great black levels and good view angles.
-Keyboard layout is very normal
-Fast performance. GPU, CPU and SDD all make it perform well.
-Function keys included are perfect selection. The lock keypad is especially useful as I use a mouse.
-Indicator lights aren't blinding.
-Screen balanced to open without holding base
-Stays cool even playing games
-Leather carrying case is nice touch.
-Upgrades to Win8.1 easily
-Minimal bloatware. It only came with utilities from Gigabyte installed. Most people wont need to clean install.
-Backlit keyboard is nice if that's your thing. Fn+space enables easily.

Cons: -Quality control seems low. 1st laptop came with a bent upward trackpad button. RMA from Newegg took exactly 1 month. The time required is understandable. It would be nice if they shipped a replacement immediately. If you do get a damaged laptop (and have spare $$$$) just return it and buy a separate identical replacement so it ships immediately.

-Trackpad button design. It seems that the trackpad buttons will wear/bend over time making them not flush with the laptop body. I use a mouse >95% of the time, so I'm not effected by this. Something to keep in mind if you use the trackpad exclusively. My left button started flush, but is already ~0.75 mm above the surrounding body.
-Battery life is low. Comes with being both thin and powerful.
-Fan is noisy at full speed. Not a big deal if you don't have a completely silent work area.

Other Thoughts: I'm using the laptop at work as a graduate student. It's small enough to take home each night in a backpack. Internals are fast enough to play games at good quality. I'm a bit biased as my old laptop is 5.5 years old HP Pavillion, but I've been VERY happy with this laptop.

4 out of 5 eggsP34G Honest Review

Pros: -Looks really nice and feels very sturdy and strong, light and thin.

-Strong screen bevel hinges.

-Great back-light keyboard, with very minimal flex. No flickering.

-Fantastic sound for such a small laptop.

-Not as loud as I thought it would be. I thought it would be a lot louder from all the reviews but it really isn't. I have bat like hearing and I have little issue with the loudness of the fans. When playing games, the sound will just about drown out the fans, especially if you are wearing headphones. When the laptop is idle it is practically silent as the hard drive doesn't even spin unless used.

Cons: -The biggest qualm I have with this laptop is the display. Overall the display is very good. The issue I have with the screen is that it is noticeably bright in patched areas around the edges. I believe this is because this type of display is very sensitive to any sort of flex that may be inherent from its mounting into the frame of the bezel. I notice this most in games that have black loading screens, dark caves and night scenes.

-No dedicated volume buttons. I know this is a small 14" laptop but it would have been nice to have a dedicated volume button. Whenever you want to change the volume you will need to go to the volume icon on the bottom right or use your fn f8 or fn f9 keys in combo.

-Another very miniscule issue is the trackpad doesn't always track perfect and is most noticeable toward the very bottom of the pad. There doesn't seem to be sensitivity at the last 5mm of trackpad.

-Annoyingly the default action for the graphics card is to change brightness in real time to save battery. This hurt my eyes as the brightness would change from one web page to another. In the case that someone else is having this issue, go into the Intel graphics card properties and click on power. Go to the battery section and turn of display power saving technology.

-There also seems to be a lot of stickers. I was able to remove the top two on the bezel but don't try and remove the P34 spec sticker because it is really on there good. I have not tried removing the i7, Geforce, or gigabyte 2 year warranty stickers for fear that it will leave a sticky residue.

-This is not really a con but I noticed that there really is no purpose for the speaker like grill by the power button. the speakers are actually front facing on the front edge of the laptop.

Other Thoughts: I would definitely recommend this laptop if you are looking for a lot of power in a very small package for the least amount of money. Most of the pro's outweigh the cons and of course your screen might be better (hopefully not worse) then the one I got. This machine can definitely play games (currently playing Far Cry 3, Witcher 2) and at full resolution with most setting on medium to high. The battery will last several hours if you are not doing much but will quickly dissipate if you try and play games.
