3 out of 5 eggsIt's amost good

Pros: Fast CPU, Fast RAM, Very fast SSD's in RAID 0 and a nice 7200rpm Hard Drive + Blu-Ray Drive.

Cons: The GTX 880M constantly runs at 95C at 100% utilization. Trying to play any modern games with force the GPU to throttle due to heat. I'm not sure if it's a faulty GTX 880M chip or if the laptop ventilation is terrible. Even after buying a notebook cooling pad it seems to have done nothing.

Not impressed with the performance, you're better off saving a couple hundred bucks on a "weaker" gpu but still get the same performance due to poor heat management.

2 out of 5 eggsHeadache machine

Pros: Has great specs and seems very well built. Has great app for upgrading drivers.

Cons: Drivers aren't compatible and when updated don't help the situation. Computer can't play low demand games. X-Com enemy unknown freezes every thirty seconds and the only way to get it to unfreeze, is to go to the windows screen and then click back in. After 3 minutes it crashes the computer. FarCry 4 crashes the laptop instantly.
Only tech support number is in Taiwan, so good luck getting any help. If you get one that works it is probably great, but if you need any help you may be up a creek. I have built multiple computers and know my way around a computer. This isn't something simple. Have contacted support and haven't heard back.

4 out of 5 eggsPowerful Gaming Laptop

Pros: Can play most games on ultra settings with fast fps.
Very nice price range ($1500-$1600) for a gaming laptop with this kind of specs.

If you are a gamer and need a laptop. I highly recommend this laptop.
It is amazing.

Cons: So the reason why I docked an egg is due to my space bar not registering unless I press down really hard on it. Typing out this review is difficult cause i have to keep backspacing to fix the spaces.

Also the back lights on the bottom left side of my screen is bleeding quite a lot compared to the other side. You can tell especially if you are in a black/dark loading screen for example. Luckily I haven't noticed any dead pixels yet.

I am considering returning this to get another brand if I am not able to get these problems fixed.

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend you getting Newegg warranty just in case of things like my problems.

Overall I suggest all you gamers out there to purchase this laptop if you are under a budget. It really has high end specs to run your favorite games.

I really dislike the yellow colored cover, wish it could've been black. But that's not enough to dock an egg.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome buy! Awesome price!

Pros: Display is stunningly beautiful. movies and video games look great!.
Laptop is light and not clunky. Keys and track pad feel great.
OS boots within 5 seconds.
Games launch and run fast.
As far as laptop speakers go, its probably one of the best. sound is crisp and loud, not a whole lot of bass. Once plugged in with headphones or external speakers, the sound profiles make it come alive!

Cons: Track pad - i dont know if its just mine or this laptop in general but it seems the bottom left corner of the trackpad has issues. Sometimes it wont pick up on your touch.. sometimes it pulls up the windows 8 charms (the right off-screen icons, i can't remember what they are called)

Other Thoughts: Summary::

* Display - great display. The HD display brings out everything in games and movies. this thing is clear.. its like going from non-HD tv to your first HD receiver..

*CPU - runs hot in games, but that's expected, handles today's games with no issues

*Video card- Very smooth, renders very well, no issues here. Win explorer and applications rendered on Intel HD graphics and all games rendered on the Nvidia card. This reserves all vram and usage for gaming on the nvidia which helps tremendously in video games.
*Network card – Wireless is fast. The LAN optimizer software, that comes installed on the laptop, actually works! I’m getting better download speeds and pings when gaming. I can configure which application should receive a higher priority.

*Fan - loud when active but once again, expected. Active fan profile may annoying some people. Sitting on the league of legends launcher, with an active fan profile, the fan is spinning fast and loud. Seems to happen when cpu utilization goes over 25%.. it doesn't bother me so i leave the fan on an Active profile.

*Trackpad - handles well except the minor issues with the bottom left corner. Feels great

*Keyboard - feels great. Picks up on everything, haven't had an issue with key punches not being picked up. The back lit is very nice. Total control with the FN+ key. You pretty much have control of everything you’ll need, down to keyboard back light intensity.

*Hard drive - The dual SSD in raid 0 array performance shows. The OS boot is 3-5 seconds. Just make sure you set up your temp stuff to go onto the TB or you'll run out of space fast, especially if you expect to install multiple games

*Second HHD - the 7200 rpms 1tb is fast. Moving files onto and off goes fast. Not much I can say about it, I just use it for storage and haven't had any issues

*Aesthetics - The laptop looks great. the back lit keys gives it more of that "umpf". It made me smile the second i pulled it out of the box (best way to explain it)

*Price- I bought it for $1500, its a very good deal - bang for your buck.

*Gaming - -
D3 -- 130fps solid in on Ultra and high def shadows. When fire is present, it will drop to 110-120fps
Bf4 -- 100-110 solid FPS.. ultra, without motion blur. I haven't seen the frames drop yet
Black Flag -- 60- 140 fps Ultra without shadows. Really the frames won't drop too much. the only issue i ran into was when there was a lot of smoke but it was only a quick dip. the video card renders it pretty well.

*non-gaming --
All i can say is, it’s over kill for non-gaming applications.. 16 GB of memory, raid 0 SSDs and 7200 rpm 1 TB.
I don't do video rendering, so I can't comment on it.
School work and running multiple VMs, this laptop doesn't crack a sweat. It runs without any hesitation and screams for more.

*I haven't tried the B-ray player or hooked it up to an external video source yet.
Overall I'm very satisfied with the GIGABYTE P25XV2-CF4, especially
