Pros: For a capable gaming laptop, this is the thinnest, lightest laptop I know of. It's a great value. The screen is 17" with good brightness and color. It packs in a 980M 8 GB video card and a 5th Gen Intel processor while being $1000+ cheaper than currently available 6th Gen systems with 980 (desktop version) or SLI configurations.

A few specs on it seem a bit "cheap", but they're also easy to upgrade. I immediately put in 2x500GB SSD and an additional 8 GB DDR3L RAM stick. These upgrades are much cheaper to do yourself, and are fairly easy to do.

Windows X Pro installed easily on the SSDs (once I got UEFI disabled) and the included drivers DVD got it right back to factory spec with the included apps. Note well, getting 500-512GB SSDs and putting Windows and your games onto them will drastically improve boot times and overall system response. Highly recommended.

I like the fact that this is not a "showy" laptop. I use this laptop both for work and gaming, and many laptops draw a lot of attention as gaming laptops. In my non-computing profession, it's a negative stereotype to be labelled someone who plays computer games. So I'm happy to have a slick, professional-appearing laptop.

Cons: This thing gets HOT running games. I'm impressed that it's stable with the temperatures on the bottom back of the laptop. It's definitely not comfortable directly on your lap when gaming.

A lot of reviews commented on the fan noise. The fans do run a lot and they can run fairly loud (unless you slow it down with quiet fan mode). But, I don't think they're particularly loud compared to other laptops I've owned in the past.

I hate the trackpad. That's the worst feature on this laptop. It's like a trackpad from a cheap budget laptop--functional but frustrating. You can always plug in an external mouse. I don't understand why they put this cheap-o on this otherwise high end laptop.

There are some other minor quirks. It comes with UEFI pre-installed, and there was some effort to figure out how to disable the UEFI and get Windows X re-installed onto the SSDs. Additionally, there are something like 16 screws to get at the SSDs. I also managed to break 2 cheapo screwdrivers on the very tight mSATA screws and put a small crack in the relatively flimsy bottom plastic piece of the laptop :-/

The case is a fingerprint magnet. I don't comment on the keyboard or sound--they're pretty average but certainly nothing special. Curiously, you don't have to fold the top down much to get the laptop to go into sleep mode. I prefer having to close it all the way.

The RAM is easy to upgrade, though there are only 2x8GB slots available (16GB max). It would have been nice to go to 32GB. I also think it's limited to 2x512GB SSDs (why not 1TB?). I hope these don't limit my applications of the laptop in a few years. That said, you can pop another 1 GB HDD in if you want. That's not a bad idea anyway. I keep hitting my belt buckle on the button on the front to eject the DVD drive. I wish the DVD drive was on the side.
