5 out of 5 eggsI love this netbook!!

Pros: This NB is super light, very sleek, can handle any MS office program you want, and even handles my super complex google sketchup drawings. Battery life is great!

Cons: Slow to save my huge google sketchup files - takes about 1 one minute.

Other Thoughts: I love this netbook. The size is just right - very portable without the screen being too small. It has been able to handle pretty much any program I throw at it (albeit, I am not a gammer, however I am a very heavy user of Google Sketchup, and it handles this just fine!).

2 out of 5 eggsI really want to like it, but...

Pros: This little laptop handled anything I threw at it; HD movies in VLC; Compressing stuff with 7-Zip, Browsing with 30+ tabs in Firefox, and even some light gaming as well. The build quality is pretty good, there is some minimal flexing in the case, but that's to be expected of a laptop this cheap. The keyboard is full-size and has minimal flexing; it feels great. I love the fact that it doesn't have one button for the trackpad; instead it's two separate buttons. The face that it has HDMI & VGA out is great, and the battery lasts about 6 hours with everything turned off. Other pros are that it's easy to upgrade (access to all connectivity related cards, HDD and RAM), and has Wireless-N, Bluetooth, Gigabit LAN, and a SIM card slot, even for 3G connections. (Said slot is behind the battery.) There's minimal bloatware on the system as well.

Cons: The entire thing is glossy. Even the trackpad, which is a odd design choice.

The trackpad buttons are really tiny and hard to get used to.

My system came with a single stuck pixel on the LCD. It wasn't too annoying, but I really wish that it was perfect since it's coming from a company that specializes in making LCD monitors.

Other Thoughts: My CPU fan completely ground (literally) to a halt, and now I can't use the laptop without it overheating. I was using the thing frequently, being a student that commutes to and from college every day, but still it should just die after three months like that. Thankfully it's still covered under warranty from Newegg (I bought the extended service plan), but I doubt they'll fulfill it since the product is now no longer in stock. Hopefully Hanspree will be able to do something for me...

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Notebook

Pros: This is a great little laptop that functions more like a netbook. It has 3 USB, HDMI output, webcam and mic, bluetooth connectivity, great storage capacity and very little bloatware. The quality and finish are great. The trackpad has a nice on/off switch so your fingers don't accidentally move the cursor somewhere else while tying.

Cons: The laptop is very glossy and thus shows alot of fingerprints on the casing and on the trackpad. The unit does come with a cleaning cloth though. If you have any perspiration on your fingers or hands the trackpad is almost useless and has a very difficult time tracking. In this case I used an USB mouse.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Value

Pros: Good price/performance/features ratio. HDMI output with HDCP, so works with Windows 7 Media Player encrypted content (e.g. HDTV programs like movies). High resolution screen (1366x768) for its size (12.1"). About the same weight/size as a netbook, but much better performance due to better processor, display and keyboard. More than enough power for everyday tasks, web surfing, email, office applications. Wifi connectivity is good.

Cons: Touchpad is a bit ... touchy. Easy to accidentally trigger it while typing - but there's a software switch to auto turn off the touchpad while typing, use it. Fan can be somewhat noisy. When new does emit a burning PC board smell, which diminishes with time.

Other Thoughts: Only unknown is reliability and longevity, PC burning smell is a concern in that regard. However, so far so good after a few months.

2 out of 5 eggsWebcam and Mic stopped working

Pros: see previous review

Cons: Update from previous review. Webcam and mic stopped working. Neither show up Device Manager. It's as if they don't exist. Tried reinstalling drivers as well as other fixes. Nothing works. Google search of the problem seems to indicate I am not the only one with this problem.

Other Thoughts: Knew this was a deal that was too good to be true. Oh well!!!

2 out of 5 eggsCould be better

Pros: Size, weight, keyboard

Cons: Shaky quality, no latch to hold screen closed, shiny finish shows fingerprints very easily, mouse equivalent buttons hard to press, loud fan

Other Thoughts: I got this to use for email/general browsing, and to manage a lossy music library (main library is too big for ipod). BSOD on first boot, numerous failed boots, finally got it to boot by disabling quick boot in BIOS. CHKDSK had to run before it would boot. This happened again after I shut it off the first time. Hoping Windows Update will eventually fix it. Error is something about USB-shared video devices?

Otherwise, seems to run well enough. Great amount of storage. Keyboard is pretty good considering the price. Could use more USB ports but 3 is enough to get by. Comes with a Windows recovery disc, but it has no optical drive, so make sure you order one if you don't already have.

I bought this expecting the cheapest laptop I could find... and I got it!

5 out of 5 eggsHannspree SN12E2 Notebook

Pros: Driver naming conventiosn
64-Bit Drivers Work

Cons: USB device connection leaves a little metal showing
SD card sticks out about 3 mm.
Web Site can be problematic in terms of speed

Other Thoughts: These are follow-up comments I have filed a previous review.

I find their Web site difficult. And I've tried with both Firefox and IE. Sometimes it just doesn't respond. But once you're there and it's working, things are fine. Unlike certain computer companies that name their drivers things like "R502637," Hannspree's site gives you a clue as to what the driver is for. When you download a bunch of drivers from sites like HP or Dell, with the "Mysterioso" naming convention, it is very difficult to locate a specific driver. I rebuilt my computer as a Win 7 Professional 64-Bit system. Win 7 did all of the drivers and I needed Hannspree only for the extra add-ons like function key functions. Works fine as a 64-Bit system. I did it to better use 4 Gig of memory.

In addition to the USB dongles not inserting "fully," about 3 mm or 3/8" of the SD card sticks out. That's unpleasant. I usually leave a card in all the time to take advantage of Win 7 ReadyBoost, which will use a card as a ca

5 out of 5 eggsHannspree SN12E24B7P Notebook

Pros: Full featured notebook that delivers above average performance in its class. Windows 7 (32 bit) software - without all the junkware you get with most notebooks. Easy setup. All external ports work fine. Excellent screen resolution for work or play. Does not generate a lot of heat on the bottom surface. The touchpad can be switched on/off! Drivers for Windows 7 (64 bit) are available at the Hannspree website if you want to upgrade. It has Bluetooth and a decent webcam.

Cons: Hard drive noise is audible when the computer is active and even sounds a little scratchy at times. Keep an external backup just in case there's a drive failure! Little stick-on labels cover one of the screws on the access covers for the memory and hard drive. If you remove them the warranty is voided. Lame. So, wait a year if you want to upgrade the memory to 4 MB's, or take your chances.

Other Thoughts: It was easy to reconfigure the partition sizes with Windows 7, and the sensitivity of the touchpad is adjustable. I added a Pixxo wireless mouse and an external DVD Rom drive for convenience. (All from Assuming that the notebook lasts more than a few months, it's a great value. Last: Be careful about using Windows Update to change the LAN driver.
Read the forums. Some users report problems after changing the driver. The factory installed driver works fine with my Cisco/Linksys E4200 wireless router, at a distance of approx. 100'.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for School

Pros: ok first off, i did not buy this on here, i bought from a website which "at the time" was 20 dollars cheaper, then again at that time it was $420.00
but if i had to say anything i can say for sure that this is THE best laptop i have ever owned, i have owned it close to 2 years and have had no problems what so ever.
this laptop speed is much more than enough to get you through any task you will need it for, and even though its not meant for gaming i have successfully played perfect world and fear 2 on this laptop, but the game play wasn't top notch obviously, but it WAS playable.
if my current one ever dies, i do plan on buying another one, only this time for 3/4 of the price i payed before.

Cons: not many but like all good things, there's always some flaws but thankfully these are minor ones
the fan worked for a long time, but then it would often stop when the laptop would get really hot, this however was fixed by simply cleaning the dust out regularly, and also blowing in the exhaust to kick start it.
also the usual slow hard drive that comes standard in laptops but that i had planned to replace from the beginning with an ssd, and i ended up getting 30 more minutes on the life span of the battery

Other Thoughts: i use this laptop for heavy C++ programming and some java and python as well.
it is also an EXCELLENT media laptop and is extremely compatible with many linux distros, my favorite being linuxmint
so if u need a quick laptop that is inexpensive and comes with many good features like bluetooth support, a decent track pad, good battery life, a crips and very responsive screen, and a more than powerful enough processor with 1080p capabilities.
there is nothing else on the internet you can buy that will give u the most out of your buck
