Pros: Feel solid, good screen, excellent battery life, nice light for the keyboard, solid performance.

I am a network techy that started to code and needed a solid laptop to run coding apps. This laptop has not let me down, even running from meeting to meeting, all DAY!

Cons: Could have tad bit thinner but then it would be as sturdy I guess. Like my friends laptop you have to handle like it was a baby.

Pros: Mine has 160 GB flash drive, not the 500 GB disk drive. First impressions are, (a) great graphics accelerator and pretty fast, plays 1080p videos beautifully, screen is very bright (but contrast is not too high).

The keyboard is very good, almost as good as the OEM keyboards on the T41's and T42's in my past, and much batter than comparable keyboards such as HP keyboards.

Cons: Does not always hibernate when I close the lid, does not always awaken after hibernation. What point is hibernation if - when it works - it takes 2 mins to come out of hibernation - longer than a reboot?? I think Lenovo must know their hibernation is flakey because they have added an option to "cancel resume from hibernation" - sheesh !!

My old T42 has a 1440x1050 display, ATI 9600 graphics. This machine has a very small screen. There are 2+ of plastic above and below the display! This screen would be bad for editing software. I am having trouble getting the icons the right size in windows 7. I cannot read the screen at full 1600x900 res. I am always having to reach for the scrollbar which is much farther away because the screen is 1600 pixels wide. Will this screen make this a time waster? Maybe.

The CD pops out all the time, by mistake. I am thinking of taping over the CD eject button to try to avoid this.

Pros: Keyboard better than T410 (subtle improvement); excellent connectivity; very fast; battery life 1 hr longer than T410; video playback is very good; drives three 1920 x 1200 monitors simultaneously (need to buy DisplayPort adapter from Lenovo, $30)

Cons: DVD drive opens way too easily; just brush your hand over it and it pops open; should have included a USB 3 port.

Other Thoughts: I am writing this from the perspective of upgrading from a T410 with 1440 x 900 screen. The T410 41786VU comes with 4 Gb of Ram; fortunately, the mem stick is installed under the keyboard. To upgrade, which I highly recommend, just open the latch on the bottom and pop in a 4Gb stick. I bought Crucial. My Win 7 index score improved significantly after upgrading the RAM.

One very important point, another reviewer stated that the T420 41786VU did not come with Bluetooth. It does. Just hit the Fn + F5 key combination and up will pop the radio button to enable Bluetooth. It has to be enabled via software.

I have three 1920 x 1200 Asus monitors. I just pop the T420 4178 6VU into a type 4338 mini docking port and connect one DVI cable, one VGA cable and one HDMI cable connected to a DisPlayPort Adapter + DVI/HDMI adapter to run all three monitors at once in Extended mode. Works great.

This is the best laptop I have owned. I expect to get at least two years of 24/7 use. Highly recomm

Pros: Awesome machine overall. Only slightly lighter than the T61 which was my previous machine. Keyboard feels soft to the touch (jn a good way). The touch pad will take a little getting used to as it's not the usual smooth surface anymore. Machine runs fast, cool, and quiet.

Cons: Display isn't any better (nor worse) than the display on my T61 (I guess I was just expecting it to be better). Webcam seems pretty average. Ordered this expecting bluetooth, but no bluetooth hardware was installed. Bummer. Sending back.

Other Thoughts: Advertised as having bluetooth... but on my order there was no bluetooth.
