5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Solid build quality
Quiet
Powerful and useful for both gaming and business
Hard drive still runs perfectly
Smooth design
Large Screen
Easy to change RAM; clean fan; replace hard drive/optical drive
Software to increase experience + battery life
Speakers are great
Extremely fast boot

Cons: A LOT of Bloatware
Screen isn't anti-glare
SD card slot is dead

Other Thoughts: I've had this laptop since it was first released and it is the best laptop I've ever had. It still runs perfectly except for the SD slot. Unfortunately, A hinge went bad and the screen lid falls once in a blue moon. Also the power button became detached and is pretty loose; but still works. After all I've put this through, I cant still attest to the quality of Lenovo products and I'm pretty sure I will buy another Lenovo laptop; but I will have to wait until this one goes bad!

2 out of 5 eggspoor quality

Pros: Cheap....internal hardware ok

Cons: The screen wouldn't stay up, eventually one of the arms that hold the bottom to the LCD broke. Very cheap quality. Didn't even bother dealing with it. It's now paperweight.

Other Thoughts: I don't think I'm getting another Lenovo

4 out of 5 eggsGreat product, But a few REALLY ANNOYING design issues

Pros: I bought this laptop because I loved the dedicated graphics player as well as the bluray player. I use my computer mostly for playing video games and watching bluray movies and the computer has definitely been all I wanted in these aspects and more. From my research during the spring of 2011 this was definitely the best deal at the time. I have not had any hardware or major software issues in the last year. I do take care of my computer like its my child and I makes sure to check at least once a week for viruses, malware, and all those other software issuses. This laptop has been extremely reliable so far and am very pleased in that aspect.

Cons: My cons are very small but very annoying. First, everytime i turn of my computer but keep the power cord plugged in I hear this obnoxious high pitched buzzing comming from the AC to DC converter on the power cord that will not stop until I unplug it. This is expecially annoying when I try to turn off my computer and go to sleep. Secondly, the graphics switching is great in theory but really annoying and half the time it would be on the integrated graphics when i wanted it on the dedicated. I ended up just setting it to the dedicated graphics constatly which is fine cause i have my laptop plugged in most of the time. The face dectection log in is cool but ends up just taking too long to load up that I could have just quick used my passord instead of waiting for it to start up and detect my face. Lastly, I cant stand the fact that when I turn off my touch pad it will come back on at every restart. If I want it off it should stay off until I chose to turn it on.

Other Thoughts: I would actually recommend this laptop to those who want a system they can use for gaming and watching movies expecially on bluray. My cons are minimal and just things that personally annoy me.

5 out of 5 eggsGlad I bought it

Pros: 1. Battery life, I don't have to hunt around campus for a plug to recharge it will last me 4-5 hours for general use
2. Memory, it's nice and zippy when I have more than one thing running, which is almost always the case with school work
3. Hard Drive, it's huge and I like that
4. Switchable graphics, gives you more control over power management vs graphic quality on a program-to-program basis.
5. The keyboard, it comes with a 10-digit pad along the side. I'm not a fan of the digit strip on top so I like that i have the option of a pad

Cons: 1. Came packed with a whole bunch of junk-ware that I promptly deleted.
2. As mentioned in other reviews there's a button next to the power button that re-installs your OS; and all you have to do to set it off is to press it like you would press the power button. Fortunately you can 'undo' accidental presses by hitting the power button and shutting the machine off but it's still terrifying to think that it's that easy to erase my drive (I back up roughly weekly and it still makes me nervous)
3. The screen is gorgeous, I love the resolution and the image quality is superb but it's not matte, so for example right now I'm sitting with my back to a window and the daylight is giving me a glare.

Other Thoughts: This is a bigger laptop than the average student needs, I bought it because I'm in a 3d-graphic/design track so I wanted to have a nice big pretty screen. If you're a psych major, for example, you can buy a much smaller and cheaper laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic!

Pros: Great components:

Fast Intel i5 2.3GHZ SB Processor
6GB RAM
ATI Radeon Graphics
Western Digital 750GB HD
BluRay Player
Great Display
Decent Speakers
Great smooth Metal Case

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Fantastic laptop by Lenovo/IBM. Great value for the price. The 17.3" screen resolution is only 1600X900 which is standard for this laptop screen size, but I mainly use this computer as a desktop replacement so I hook it up to my Samsung 1920X1080 LED/LCD and it looks great at the higher resolution. The only game that I've played on it so far is DOW2:Retribution and I'm able to play it on high settings at 1920X1080 averaging around 43 FPS. I checked out a website for the ATI Radeon 6650M graphics chip and it pretty much can play all games between medium-high settings. Very satisfied and pleased with the purchase of this laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsTechnological Advancements

Pros: GENERAL: First off let me state that this computer is Wonderful. I have gotten more bang for my buck out of this thing than I have with any other computer. I had a tough time deciding between it and another highly rated computer on Newegg but I feel that I have made a wise decision. The keyboard is wonderful, as is the screen, and the 6 gigs of RAM are overkill in the most wonderful way. I haven't had any true issues at all with it (more on that in a minute) but have really enjoyed my experiences so far.
TECH: The i5 provides plenty of power for everything I have tried on this comp. Sandy Bridge mb's are reliable and quick motherboards with a very low fail rate. As I said before the RAM is overkill; expect to load a page in under 4 seconds regardless of whats on it. I can run Crysis all settings on high with the graphics card though I have yet to try Witcher 2: it will be pushing it. I highly recommend this beast, as it is a complete steal and selling like crazy.

Cons: I don't know if I would call anything in particular about this computer a con. It had virtually no bloatware, so that will be no real issue. If I had to come up with a few things I would say that the G770 could use a cooling pad. It can get a bit warm at times. As with most other lap tops the speakers aren't the best, though they are not bad, and I would like it if the view area was a bit wider. The keyboard and cover are both nice though the cover gets dirty a bit easily (smudges and the like) but aesthetically this dark burnished metal is really nice. I can't really find much to complain about even when trying.

Other Thoughts: I personally am going for a Bachelors Degree at the moment and live on campus at my school. This computer easily fulfills and exceeds all of my needs. you may have some initial trouble finding a case if u don't order one off Newegg (17.3 in. is largish) but the size makes it very comfortable as well. I feel that it isn't too heavy, especially for its size, and I can easily carry it to any class. For the gamers on a budget out there, as I said before I don't know if you will manage The Witcher II but everything else is probably on the table at the moment. I manage around 40 fps in Crysis with all high, and haven't seen any issues whatsoever with lagg or obscene load times. This thing really is a gem and I hope that if you happen to stumble across it that you will consider it for yourself too.

5 out of 5 eggsAWESOME!

Pros: laptop is amazing. hard drive is unnecessarily huge. 6GB of memory is spot on for a modern gaming laptop in my opinion. the 6650m burns bright on the 17.3" display. awesome.

Cons: the price went down 60 bucks shortly after i bought it, but that doesn't bother me TOO much due to the fact that the thing is amazing. the price was still very good even BEFORE the sale!

let it be known that this thing certainly does get hot fast under stress, so you're going to need a fan pad. that's pretty crucial information.

Other Thoughts: those of you who got this for the sale price, YOU MADE OUT LIKE BANDITS!

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Product!

Pros: No problems running any games, no errors at all, Fast boot time, runs high FPS on League of Legends, World of Warcraft, Heroes of Newerth and and Hl2 mods

Cons: Battery life could be a little bit better, but it's still good

Other Thoughts: Probably the best laptop out there for the price, probably exceeds my desktop now. A definite buy

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Third week. So far it seems to be a fairly fast system. This is the first laptop I have owned, but it has a nice keyboard system that isn't too slick like some I have used. I like the way it it designed other than the reset button.

Cons: The system did not come with a paper manual (not easy to find) nor any OS discs, and it's all by the touch of a factory reset button right next to the power button, which makes me very nervous. So far no slip ups, but what if I hit the wrong button when the power is off? It is smaller, but it still makes me nervous.

Other Thoughts: I build desktop pcs, and the last one I built was an i5 as well, so I am enjoying the speed of the processor.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Quality

Pros: Firts review for me.
1; Great screen quality and picture
2; relatively lightweight for it's size
3;not bogged down with an insane amount of bloatware
4;really well done, sturdy island keyboard
5; Runs games great, EVE online at full settings is no trouble at all, even with multiple browser windows going in the background
6;Fast, fast loading times, and an amazingly fast boot time for me, (right around 40 seconds after optimization) compared to my last hp notebook, which could get grumpy and take up to 5-7 minutes for boot time
7;for the price, it's an amazing deal,
8;webcam is great, very good quality for photos and chats
9;decent ram, good HD space,
10; the blu-ray player, (which i'm still waiting to test out)
11; sleek, smooth and stylish case, classic appearance for such a grand machine
12; plenty of usb ports, for just about everything
13;Runs quiet and relatively cool, though I'd suggest a cooling tray for any extended periods of use. but even then, i doubt itd melt

Cons: okay, there are a couple cons here, but nothing thats not extremely easy to correct,
1; it does -not- come with a case, and i had forgotten that fact, which means when i got it unpacked and ready to move, i had no case, (my old hp case is nice, but literally millimeters too small) so i had to run around through several stores to find one, and they were all a little pricey, so my suggestion is that you do your homework and find a big enough case (17.3" -should do it, though my current sleeve is a little tight) as well as getting the type of case you'd like, so that in the event you dont enjoy tiny, sleeves that hold nothing more than your machine and a magazine you can have the storage space you need....don't make the same mistake I did, trust me, not fun. but as far as the laptop itself goes? Not a single con to think of right now, if any pop up ill be sure to add them here though.

Other Thoughts: really, if your working in this price range, go for this model, its a great buy, a great machine, and will be sure to please even the most scrutinizing of geeks, nerds, techs and anyone else. Bought this for school, and EVE, and i'm deffinitely more than pleased with my choice.
