2 out of 5 eggsChronic Start-up problems

Pros: Purchased in April 2012. Worked very well for a couple of months.

Cons: Start-up problems began in June and have gotten worse. Usually the problem can be repaired using one key recovery, but this deletes everything. Called Lenovo in August. Technician did not appear to be very knowledgeable regarding the problem. Lenovo sent recovery discs with no directions. Computer would not recognize discs.
Problem continues....sometimes it works and other times it does not. Very frustrating.

Other Thoughts: I paid $379.00 in August. I have seen it advertised now for $329.
Hmmmmmmm

3 out of 5 eggsGreat till hinge froze up

Pros: Cheap, fast , Windows 7

Cons: Cheap, very thin plastic, glare on LCD

Other Thoughts: Left Hinge froze up after 4 months. $20 for part, a whole lot of work to replace! Not like my old think pad that's 6 yrs old & still going strong. Not sure if any other brands are better, I think HP sells the identical laptop under a different name.

4 out of 5 eggsAffordable Laptop for Home

Pros: It is faster than the laptop that it replaced, but also two years newer. Features for the price works out to offset the cons.

Cons: WiFi takes forever to initially start-up after a hard restart (shutdown/restart instead of sleep/hibernate). Somewhat slow for what you actually get. Hard drive is split into two from the factory with one partition being dedicated to lenovo ware with about 25Gb free (which you could probably repartition if you feel the need).

Other Thoughts: I bought this a few months ago, added 4 more Gb's of RAM and have already replaced it with the Intel i5 edition G570 to see if that improves the performance. You must keep in mind, however, that you are getting a budget friendly laptop, not an over-priced MacBook!

Additionally...

AS WITH ALL HARD DRIVE SPECIFICATIONS: You aren't actually getting 500Gb of storage. It averages slightly below that because all hard drives are rated incorrectly and have been since I have been working on computers (20+ years). In reality 1Gb is supposed to equal 1,024Mb, but for FACTORY SPECS, 1Gb = 1,000Mb. This means a drive claiming to hold 500Gb such as the one included in this laptop will only hold about 488Gb of actual data using the formula (H x 1000)/1024 where "H" is the stated hard drive capacity.

1 out of 5 eggs100 Day update

Pros: cheap

Cons: 1 year warranty is only on the computer, after 100 days of owning it the ac power adapter died, I called Lenovo and they said that the adapter has a 90 day warranty and to buy a new one was 100. horrible customer service, spend your money elsewhere. If i could send the computer back now I would. speakers also sound worse now than when new with minimal use.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Have used, resold, 7 of these & similar Lenovos.
Never a hitch at all.
Had an issue once, after several months of use, but it was taken care of immediately by Lenovo

Cons: not a one.

Other Thoughts: These laptops are reliable & loaded with features that, in many instances, are only found on the high-end, high priced units

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding for the price

Pros: The keyboard and overall build quality are up to Lenovo's good standards. Performance is absolutely solid for a budget laptop; I've had no complaints so far. The screen and speakers aren't world-class, but again - they are very good for this laptop's price range.

Maybe I am just burned out from the MSI nightmare that broke on me last week, but this is a superior machine in every respect.

Also? A 1 year warranty is pretty incredible for a laptop in this price range. Good on Lenovo.

Cons: The keyboard takes some getting used to. Keys are in good positions, but the numeric keypad kind of encroaches onto the normal keyboard.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase. It's not a gaming powerhouse - but that's not what I ordered. I wanted a good general-purpose laptop for web, email, some video, some productivity, running my weekly D&D games, traveling to my mother-in-law's, etc.

4 out of 5 eggsNice for the sale price!

Pros: Received laptop one day after ordering! It has lots of built-in features that make it a great deal for an under $400 class laptop... b/g/n wifi connectivity, built-in webcam, decent-sized hdd, and good construction quality to name a few.

Cons: Takes about 2 minutes or more to actually connect to my wifi network. Every other computer or wifi device in the house beats that by a minute or more! Boot time is under a minute, but fully ready to go time is about 3 minutes or more! Doesn't sit well with the specs and this is after an upgrade to 8GB of ram!

Other Thoughts: I bought it on a Thursday, got it on a Friday and am reviewing it the following Monday. I ordered it with a 4GB gSkill module (reviewed by me as well) which puts it at its maximum memory capacity of 8GB. For under $400, this thing will do!

5 out of 5 eggsJump on this...

Pros: Keyboard, sturdy, takes a licking

Cons: speakers, microphone

Other Thoughts: When I re-installed a clean OS on this models predecessor the laptop performs flawlessly. I bought mine for $399. This is an awesome budget laptop and has twice the HDD space and better speed than mine...

3 out of 5 eggsDescently fast, DVD/CD player issues

Pros: I bought this laptop after reviewing several "lower-end" laptops in my price range. This one by far had what I was looking for 2.2 ghz and 4GB/ MS Windows 7, full keyboard and number pad with a larger screen. For what I've used it for so far, it works (Internet, document storage, play music). I'm not a big gamer and was really looking for something that would to the basics well and this laptop does run descently fast. Even the speakers are rather nice. However, I immediately put in a DVD and the DVD would not play. I double checked to make sure the DVD itself was working and it does, but the DVD player seems to be shot as the program runs but the DVD can't be played/read. I'm hesitant at this point to ship it back it out and get a replacement, afraid that a new one would have something else more seriously defective with it. Overall, I'm happy about this computer but I would have gotten a netbook for cheaper if I knew the DVD/CD player wouldn't work.

Cons: DVD/CD player defective. I couldn't find any other reviews showing this to be the issue, so perhaps this is an anomaly. I would probably not purchase from Lenovo again without an extended warranty though I have been satisfied with newegg's customer service for years now.
