4 out of 5 eggsLenovo G570

Pros: Sleek modern design, bright screen, full sized keyboard with number pad. Wireless on/off hard switch. i3core processor. DDR3 Ram. Decent speakers for what they are.

Cons: Only two USB ports, no HDMI. 4GB of installed ram. 5400rpm HDD prevents a higher Windows experience score.

Other Thoughts: Decent work laptop, or for use for school. Not really a gaming laptop, but will play older games just fine (F.E.A.R., BF2, etc) in WinXP compatibility mode. Just be sure to add another 4GB of ram to wake this little lappy up.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat deal for the price

Pros: *Fast bootup (after reformatting and clean install)
*Running dual boot Windows 7 and Linux very well.
*Plays Diablo3 and Starcraft 2 with no lag (low graphics settings and it heats up a bit with Diablo)
* Sleek and simple aesthetically.

Cons: *One of the four main corner screws somehow came out of the chassis within first couple weeks. I was lucky to notice; since the screws are magnetized it some grabbed on to the front of my machine. Luckily, I noticed it and was surprised to find it had come out of my machine.
*Disc drive vibrates quite while reading discs.
*Num pad on the right side of keyboard is useless (at least for me).
*No mute key built into keyboard.

Other Thoughts: Without even booting up, I reformatted, so I don't know the extent of junkware is previously installed. I highly recommend this route for if you have a Windows 7 disc laying around. It looked as if Lenovo stuck all the hardware drivers on a separate partition. I deleted those partitions and my ethernet port, wireless card, etc. were usable upon restart. Luckily I had a usb stick ready with the necessary drivers.

4 out of 5 eggsLenovo G570

Pros: * Tremendous bang for the buck in terms of processing power
* Hyper-threading, if you’re doing anything video-related
* Windows Experience Index is a predictable 5.9 because of the HD, but everything else was over 6 (after a HD Graphics 3000 driver driver update). I didn’t get this for gaming, but it runs them pretty well (really only tested Civ 5)
* Very good battery life – I have been getting well over 5 hours for general use
* Keyboard is very nice, full-size (which was the impetus for my purchase) and complete with right-hand numpad

Cons: * No HDMI
* Lid does not latch
* RAM/HDD cover is insanely difficult to get off to install a second stick
* No gigabit LAN
* Some bloatware, but nothing that balks at removal

Other Thoughts: First, buy this. Second, get another 4GB stick when you buy this, it's only twenty bucks, well worth it. Third be aware that installing that stick is going to be a giant pain. This does not come with a user manual, so after deciding I clearly wasn't doing it right because it shouldn't be this hard I went online and learned that yes, I was doing it right, and yes it was very difficult to get off. I ended up snapping a tab off... nothing crucial, but I wasn't excited about bits falling off my brand new toy. This and that I don't love that the lid kind of rattles when "closed" due to no latch are the reason for dropping one egg.

Also the VeriFace software (facial recognition unlock) is kind of neat but way too slow to be worthwhile.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: Nice tactile feel to keyboard. Facial recognition software works well, can control entire laptop or certain folders. Bright screen works well in sunlight. LCD backlight nice feature in such a low price unit. Very quiet. Decently sturdy construction.

Cons: I wish Lenovo had retained the old IBM Thinkpad feature of the little light that projected down onto the keyboard.

The indicator LEDs stay white all the time. I would have preferred a charge LED that goes from amber to green to indicate when fully charged.

Other Thoughts: If you don't need DVI/HDMI output and you're not trying to impress everyone with how sleek and Apple-like your laptop looks, this is a terrific deal. Plain ribbed black plastic lid and keyboard surround, easy to clean and won't show wear on the finish and every little fingerprint. The i3-2350M is more more powerful than the other G570 for the same price; so you can put your money into flash on the outside or performance on the inside. Your choice. Do yourself a favor and get the extra 4Gb RAM now, it's less than $30.
As always, kudos to Newegg for insanely fast delivery!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Lil Laptop

Pros: I3 processor
4GB RAM with room for more
OneKey Recovery
Very few junk programs. The ones that are on it are easy to remove.

Cons: No DVI or HDMI connection.
Not really a con, but I wish there was room for a second HDD. For what I use this item for, I need ALOT of disk space.

Other Thoughts: I bought this laptop for DJing. I got tired of lugging around and people spilling beer on my gaming rig and a 20" screen (I use a 42" to game on) every time I have a gig. I was a little leery of buying this brand because I've never heard of them. I'm very happy on this purchase so far. My DJ program (Traktor 2 Pro) and driver for my Kontrol S2 installed quickly and it analyzed all my music (60012 tracks) fairly quick. I'm DJing my usual club and a grad party this weekend. I hope all goes well.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop. Best I've used

Pros: Although I've only had it a little over a week, this computer is great. The battery is fairly good, makes no noise, the screen is brilliant, I absolutely LOVE the keyboard. I have used at least 3 other laptops and let me tell you, this keyboard is great. Most other ones are either flimsy or tend to be very hard and make a lot of noise. Or some just don't have that much space for me to type comfortably. So far everything is working great!

Cons: None so far

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, affordable notebook

Pros: This is an amazing notebook for the price. I am not looking for gaming, video editing etc., just everyday use and this thing delivers. The keyboard is large enough for me, whiuch was a big factor in my purchase. Lenovo's power features extend battery life. A great deal form the money.

Cons: None so far
