4 out of 5 eggsupdate to the 12/30 review

Pros: as stated in the previous review

Cons: the charger died, have to fiddle with the 110v cord extensively to get it to charge. cost to much to ship back is cheaper to just order a new one off 'egg. also dont want to give up the larger drive and faster processor ...

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: came wit ha 2ghz core 2 duo, instead of the stated 1.83ghz. also came with a 100GB hd as opposed to the stated 60GB drive. upgraded to win 7, runs well no problems. came in like new condition, no scratches etc.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: whoever refurbished this did an excellent job. came with upgraded parts, which is awesome.

3 out of 5 eggsA few things you should know.

Pros: Good laptop, nice screen, performance and its cheaper and better than getting a netbook.

Cons: Drivers were not loaded, Windows was not activated and it includes a third party generic Chinese power adapter.

What you need to know is Newegg does not really provide support on these laptops. These Laptops are provided through a third-party vendor.

Other Thoughts: This deal isn't for the technically faint of heart. The Laptop I received was loaded with Windows 7, the Video drivers were NOT installed, and no Windows product key was registered with the system. These things may confuse the heck out of your grandmother.

However I called the support number for the vendor that shipped these units, and they were very helpful in getting my computer activated.

So everything turned out well in the end, but it was slightly inconvenient.

5 out of 5 eggsA Reply to "NA"

Pros: I normally let ignorance go when reading the reviews on Newegg because you get the good with the bad just like everything else in life. But I could not let this one go unaddressed.

Cons: Some people need to leave the reviews up to people who know how to tie their own shoes at minimum...

Other Thoughts: "This computer doesn't come with Microsoft office, which isn't mentioned anywhere."

You have got to be kidding me... You actually expected the item's description to list everything that DOES NOT come with the computer? You must still wear Velcro fastened shoes...

The description also doesn't say that it doesn't come with Photoshop. Get ready to be disappointed again! Oh! And it also fails to mention that it doesn't come with a rocket launcher, a drone or a nuke. I guess I better get my expectations up for all the WMDs it should include as well...

5 out of 5 eggsIBM ThinkPad Refurb

Pros: This laptop was in beautiful condition. I expected some prior "use" as it is refurbished, but the laptop was in exceptional condition. It honestly looks brand new. I had it up in running in no time. I would recommend this laptop to anybody. Furthermore, components on this laptop are very easy to service or replace.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I could tell the company that NewEgg deals with appears to be a class act and want to see you happy with your purchase.

2 out of 5 eggspoorly refurbished poor support

Pros: Includes all that was claimed. 2GB RAM, DVD drive, battery and charger. Screen is bright and only slightly scratched.

Cons: HD died after less than one month. One of the keys is sticky. HD missing two screws that hold it in the caddy. Customer support from the refurbishing company virtually non-existent. No one answers the phone. No one answers e-mails.

Other Thoughts: Upgraded to SSD and Windows 7 shortly after purchase. Runs great under Windows 7. Drivers for Windows 7 available on Lenovo's support page. I purchased 2 15" T60s from newegg which were refurbished by another company. They were considerably nicer.

1 out of 5 eggsBeware

Pros: it's a ThinkPad they usually work great...

Cons: it's a roll of the dice, Newegg and the vendor will not offer much support if you have problems with the laptop.
I am pretty much out 239 dollars on a laptop that died 5 weeks after purchase. I know it is refurbished but really..

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: User error...the tail had worn off of a "Q" in the Windows product key (it's the original, six-year-old label), leaving me trying to type in an "O" or "0", neither of which are used in the product key.

Cons: Still not real jazzed about the dead warranty link, or the assurance that I can call the 800 number "call the toll free number listed on the reverse side of this Contract".

Other Thoughts: System is showing the full 2GHz of memory and the 1.83GHz CPU as advertized.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid

Pros: The computer looks and runs good.

Cons: Buyer Beware! This computer doesn't come with Microsoft office, which isn't mentioned anywhere. The LAN connection did not work and I had to get a IT guy to fix it. It came loaded with two antiviruses that each shut off the internet and I had to remove both to get the internet access back. Also one of the right click buttons did not work, the other one worked but I expected it to at least have functioning buttons. I understand this is a refurbished computer so I tried to temper my expectations but Cmon, this many problems in the first day is ridiculous.

Other Thoughts: I sincerely regret ordering from Newegg. The customer service was a joke and it seemed like I inconvenienced anyone who I talked to. I simply wanted some help, and the Newegg people shuffled me off to Lenovo who told me to call Newegg back. In the future I will pay more money to not shop with Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat all around notebook!

Pros: I brought this refurbished laptop after my first laptop and desktop both crashed. I was a bit hesitant on purchasing a refurbished laptop as this was my first purchase doing so and I was financially strapped and still needed Internet access.

However, I trust Newegg to sell good products and thus made the purchase. I was pleasantly surprised to see the laptop in top exterior condition, fresh copy of Windows XP Professional pre-installed and better specifications of my computer than was initially advertised (i.e. instead of 60 GB hard drive, I received an 80 GB hard drive and instead of a DVD only drive, it was configured with a DVD-CDRW drive). My shipping was free and it arrived in 3 days time.

The quality and build of the T60 is remarkable and far superior to the brand new HP (with similar specifications) that I purchased in 2006, which is the same year that the Lenovo T60 was manufactured. A recovery Windows CD can be purchased for $45.00 from Lenovo's website.

Cons: I was original packaging was there from the time when the laptop was sold new.

Laptop speakers of the T60, I would say, rate on a scale of 4 out 10 using the Toshiba Qosmio laptop as the high watermark which is considered to be the best laptop speakers in addition to having a built in subwoofer.

Other Thoughts: It's a great laptop. Back in summer of 2006, the same configured laptop sold between 1700.00 - 2000.00 dollars depending on the specific configuration (i.e. 15" screen vs. 14", more memory, etc.)
