1 out of 5 eggsBad Design

Pros: Good processor and memory power for the money.

Cons: Terrible hinge design. Just go to the Lenovo forum and search G570. Almost every owner is reporting broken hinges within 9 to 18 months. You may or may not be able to get Lenovo to repair under warranty. Even with new bottom cover and hinges it will just break again!

Other Thoughts: My sister bought this based on my recommendation and brought it to me 9 months later with broken hinge. I repair a lot of laptops but I could not believe what I saw. Lenovo really shot themselves in the foot with this one. I will never recommend them again!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: Large bright screen, solid processor, free memory slot upgrade-able to 8gb, decent battery life, boot/power software actually works pretty well, not too much bloatware, keyboard with number pad.

Cons: The overall construction feels a bit flimsy. I am a bit nervous to see how it holds up since it is a large laptop. Hence it losing an egg.

Other Thoughts: This computer was well worth the money.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop for the Price.

Pros: This laptop has a really nice, clear and bright wide screen display. Colors seem good. I really like the keyboard keys they are wider than typical keys and have a nice soft touch. Speed is also pretty good for a laptop in the "on sale" price range I got this laptop at. Battery life seems good. It doesn't get hot like other laptops I've had. IMO this for the price I got it is the best deal I could have gotten for a laptop that does pretty decent in all deptartments.

Cons: The only con I have is that there isn't an easy switch (not that I have found so far) to turn off the touchpad like there is for the wifi. I wish there was, because of the placement of the touchpad. I know most laptops have the touchpad in the middle, but for my hands it seems one always rests right on the touchpad and makes things go haywire.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop, slow/unusable website

Pros: These are great laptops, decently well built, easy to work on, fairly quick for general business, school, and office type work.

Cons: Lenovo's driver website is absolutely terrible, by far one of the worst I have ever had to use. It is often down and always incredibly slow, by slow I mean it takes 10-15 minutes to get the driver page for your model up, then another 5-10 minutes to get each driver download "STARTED". This has been the situation for the last three plus years and it's getting to the point I maybe purchasing other laptops for my business in the future.

2 out of 5 eggsTruly asinine design, the hinge WILL break

Pros: Fast and capable for what it is. Fairly lightweight, decent screen, good keyboard

Cons: Astronomically idiotic design virtually assures that the hing screws will break out of the case. The case supports simply can't handle the torque that the hinges apply to them, even in the gentlest of usage, and anyone with more than a 3rd grade education should have known it. It takes $125+ to get it fixed.

Other Thoughts: It is unconscionable to me that Lenovo would release this design and call it a "laptop".

3 out of 5 eggsIBM NOT

Pros: Sandy Bridge, Windows 7, functions nicely.

Cons: Mechanically weak,

Other Thoughts: after gentle use hinge screws to upper plate disengage be ready to weld plastic nuts back into place. google left hinge Lenovo 570

5 out of 5 eggsVery great so far

Pros: Sane keyboard, easy to pop keys off and rearrange, low cost, feels like good hardware, stays cool, runs Linux like a champ. I didn't have to fight with any drivers and had the 'just works' experience popping in the SSD from my old system.

Cons: The drive that comes with it is terrible. It's a 5400 rpm drive and you get exactly what you expect from it. I didn't expect to actually use it, though, so this is a non-issue for me.

Other Thoughts: It's a Lenovo at a low price. It's nothing amazing but for the price it's eggcellent. (egcellent?) If someone asked me for an opinion buying a new laptop on a budget, this would currently be my top suggestion.

4 out of 5 eggsThat'll do, Pig

Pros: Minimal bloatware
Lightweight
Good boot time
Lenovo brand
Newegg discounts

Cons: Minimal bloatware
I might find more bad things to say if this weren't my first lappy, which it is.

Other Thoughts: If only Newegg would have more deals with Vaio. *sigh* ....they spoil us, don't they?
