1 out of 5 eggsRebate Was A con JOb

Pros: Bought as a starter for my granddaughter, machine works and as a starter she has no complaints. Handles all the needed homework and multimedia tasks she needs and the few kids games she is allowed.( did not realize how much real trash there is out there in gaming)

Cons: The rebate was a scam, shame on lenovo

4 out of 5 eggsWell made low budget laptop

Pros: Nice LED screen, good battery life(4 hours), faster than expected, good support from lenovo, more than enough usb ports(4).

Cons: Heavy, a little loud with the fan always on, so-so speakers.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my niece who wanted a Mac instead, so I kept it as a backup. I found it to be a lot faster than I was told to expect from the E series processor it came with. This is the second one with this series processor(I have the newer E-1200 as well) and I find the speed more than enough for average, everyday tasks.

You can't honestly expect a gaming rig at the low price points these are sold at, and the better than average graphics (6310 on this one, 7310 on the E-1200) are plenty for playing back videos(1080p works great here). I like these low end lenovo's and recommend them to my friends who want good quality and better than expected performance without paying too much for it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal!

Pros: Bought on sale for a radical price (after rebate). Even at current $329 I'd still buy it. Bought as a starter machine for wife (novice user) and teenage daughter. It works great for general web surfing, MS Office work/homework, watching DVDs. Wifi worked out of the box and has remained reliable. 4 USB ports, 4 GB ram.

Cons: Not the fastest cpu on the block. This is no gamer or number-cruncher machine. If you need lots of speed look elsewhere. No HDMI port.

Other Thoughts: Good choice for general purpose machine.

4 out of 5 eggsvery good laptop

Pros: Lightweight, great screen, good processor and decent amount if ram.

Cons: McAfee!!! 5400 rpm HDD

Other Thoughts: Leave OS alone aside from uninstalling McAfee as soon as it boots. this step alone not only makes it very stable, it speeds things up considerably. the drive is a bit slow but normal speed for most laptops. installing another 4gb of ram made this thing fly. My son uses it daily with no issues.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Budget Laptop

Pros: Affordable price
LED 15.6" Screen
Full keyboard w/number pad
Runs Cool
Plenty of USB inputs

Cons: Not the fastest processor
Lots of "Lenovo" bloat
No HDMI
Fan runs all the time

Other Thoughts: Great laptop. Got it for a cheap work laptop in the field. Runs well. Re-installed w7 to start fresh with no bloat or partitions. So far it has been a great laptop. Not super speedy but much faster than the old Dell it replaced. Can't beat the price. Installed w8 for a couple weeks and it did work well with. Lenovo and AMD had drivers. This is my first ever AMD machine, and for the price it is not bad. Hopefully it keeps running!

3 out of 5 eggsBuggy software and drivers

Pros: Excellent screen. It never felt cheap, and its very, very bright. I usually have the screen on the lowest brightness setting!
A bit of hidden power. This computer was able to play fallout 3 on med, fallout new vegas on med, dragon age: Origins on max settings, the elder scrolls IV: oblivion on med, star trek online on med, and starwars: battlefront. For only a 2.6ghz processor (2 1.3 dual cores) it does have some decent power.

Cons: Buggy software and drivers. I had trouble installing the WIFI correctly. One key recovery UNFORMATTED itself out of complete random. 16GB was just sitting there, unallocated. Do not rely on it for backing up purposes, make restore dvds ASAP if you plan to buy this.
The OS seems to lock up a lot. It just seems like poor coding. Lenovo's website is not very good either, which makes updating drivers a huge pain. Sometimes they won't install correctly.

It has somewhat of weak hinges around the screen. I noticed they have gotten weaker in the near year that I've owned this.

This has a loud fan. It can be annoying. It also can get hot, you might need a chillpad.

The version of the laptop I have only has ONE ram slot??? I upgrade it to a single 4GB stick, but this is a disapointment.

Only 2 usb ports

No HDMI

Lags somewhat while playing videos

!!Only one speaker mono on the right!!

(LENOVO DOES *___NOT___* SUPPORT OFFICIALLY WINDOWS 8 FOR THIS COMPUTER! BEWARE!

Other Thoughts: I got this on black friday retail for $180. For the price, it is ok. You'd be better off with another company. Lenovo is IBM, and from my experience, they are not very good. Other versions, like here on new egg may come with two ram slots, an hdmi and more usb slots which would be an improvement. Overall, this would be good for school/college but not for gaming. Most laptops aren't meant for gaming in general. Also beware that Lenovo partitions this computer very weird. One partition that is small in size (mine was 180mb) had the boot files, another had the data (the os and such) and another was one key recovery... which broke.

1 out of 5 eggsStay Away

Pros: Cheap

Cons: I have 4 of the Lenovo G575. 2 of them died in 6 month with the same issue - defective WD 320 GB HDD manufactured in Aug/Sept 2011. The same issue reported all over Web.

3 out of 5 eggsWhadda want for $300?

Pros: I purchased the G575 last year as, due to a ongoing health problems, I am spending much of my time in the hospital going forward. My first personal laptop (the four I had in the past were for work). I intended to use it primarily for Photoshop and video editing. I figured the addition of 4Gb of RAM should pretty much make the thing perform. Out of the box everything was simple. I'd built most of my PCs in the past and was pleasantly surprised that everything went like clockwork. Although I knew I was going to mess with it. (More about that later.)
If your looking for a decent machine and aren't much of a computer person this is a good buy. I'll leave the Pros at that.

Cons: ow, if you ARE a 'computer geek' (or whatever you prefer to refer to yourself as) this is NOT a good route.

First, Lenovo partitions things oddly. Make sure you know where they like to fung shui things on their HDDs if you intend to reload or repartition. The 320 Gb advertised storage, while technically true, is frustratingly broken up and about 40 gigs is actually hidden and unavailable for use. Some of Lenovo's software is impossible to reactivate if you reformat a partition against their floorplan (which I did).
I experienced similar hinge issues others have. The front left USB port died after the first week. (I didn't bother with if as the remaining 3 were sufficient.)
6 months in the board had to be replaced due to the units ability to receive POWER ceased. After 3 weeks it was finally back on my bed. Of course, replacing the board eliminate that USB port problem but 3 weeks?!?!? I'd rather they had installed an HDMI port...
And I didn't notice that the molded plastic 'grating' over the left side heat vent had lost most of it's 'bars' somewhere during that trip to Lenovo's depot. I will be addressing that when I'm well enough.

The thing that's bugging me most is that although this specs better than my daughters 2 year old Dell laptop her machine is consistantly faster doing the very thing I do on mine. This is not a Photoshop machine.

Other Thoughts: I think this will be my first and last Lenovo.

1 out of 5 eggsDAMAGED LCD, AND THEY WON'T REPLACE OR FIX

Pros: The only problem I have with this unit is a big one. The bottom corner of the screen has darkened after only a couple of days of use. I have taken very good care of this laptop, so there should be no damage to it from me. Maybe is occured during shipping. I cannot anyone to work with me about making this issue right; therefore, I WOUNLD NEVER RECOMEND BUYING A COMPUTER ONLINE!!!! This has not worked out well for me...at all!

Cons: The negatives overshadow what I would love about this unit.

5 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: Can't beat it for the price (got it for $250 after rebate). Quick enough, stylish enough, easy to set up and get started. I got this as a budget laptop for school, but it's capable of much more.

Cons: None specific to the laptop (see other thoughts).

Other Thoughts: Not really a con, but Lenovo wants you to do a double backflip to get your rebate. Also, I ordered this on a saturday evening, and UPS 3 day shipping got it to me the following friday.
