5 out of 5 eggsMust use SSD!!

Pros: I was not impressed with this computer. Boot times were in the 1 min + range. Read reviews most complained about slow hard drive. I put in a Samsung SSD and wow!!!! Boots in 15 sec and rips through programs. It has the sata 3 so you get max performance. What an incredible machine once you remove the bottleneck in the hard drive.

Cons: The hard drive. Why Lenovo used a 5400 rpm drive is beyond me. The G series is the lowest line, so maybe they wanted to keep the benchmarks down. Buy a SSD and you will be amazed!!!

Other Thoughts: I was so surprised at the performance stock with an i5 processor. It was slower than the computer it replaced. After the SSD TOP LINE PERFORMANCE!!!! I was surprised with the Samsung EVO, read great reviews but was skepical. Wow what a difference.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Screen Ever?

Pros: Umm?

Cons: Yes indeed, worst screen ever.

Other Thoughts: Terrible customer service from Lenovo. Wish I had known that the old IBM Lenovo that my boss had that was amazing is not what these non-IBM new Lenovos are. Straight out of China, and so is the customer service. First time I called I'm pretty sure I got a scam from India.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent notebook

Pros: I added 16 gigabytes of RAM N82E16820233217
Everything about this notebook is great.
No complains. I'm about to order two more.
I'd recommend a Momentus XT hard drive with it as well (hybrid SSD)

Cons: Nothing really.

Other Thoughts: There's an i7 version as well. I'm not sure if it's worth the extra ~$150 because I'd expect the heat would slow it down to the same speed this one runs.

3 out of 5 eggsgood, untill issues happened

Pros: a great budget laptop, seriously, does all i need for class, vm wise

Cons: ...it broke... jsut wouldnt start... bezel on screen was broke ut of box, but i didnt care about that. as time went on, it broke, wouldnt start, yada yada... took it apart, and apparently, instead of sodering on a MB connector (as the cord said it was) they decided do de-soderit (some was left on some of the contacts under the keyboard where this connector was located) and just TAPED it on... and that obviously dosent hold forever. Not nocking lenovo themselves for this, as it was probably just some fool of a worker at a FOXCONN manufacturing center who just wanted to keep his job/food... still, sucks though. RMA'd it a few days ago.

Other Thoughts: tape. WHY?

5 out of 5 eggsJust what I needed

Pros: Plays WoW and multiple steam games on high settings. All casual laptop criteria (wifi, card reader, etc). GeForce. Easily upgraded the RAM. Large Screen, 3rd Gen, Full number pad.

Cons: Lot of Bloat, however i was expecting this to be so. Low RAM for the buck. Speaker quality is a bit less than I expected. Watched 1 movie and now the right hand speaker has a ticking sound. No Disks.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to game on the fly when not at home. NOT to use this as a dedicated gaming rig. Upgraded RAM to 8gb of 1600. I use a headset mostly, which is why I had this machine months before I noticed the speaker quality. Bloatware was easily removed.

1 out of 5 eggsworked great for two weeks

Pros: It looks great and when it's working well it operates smoothly and fast. Great battery life and good quality screen.

Cons: I loved it for the first few weeks, then I started having problems. I've had to send it into the service center in Texas twice and the problem is still not fixed. I take excellent care of my computers and have never had one that was so problematic. I've gone back to my other laptop (4 years old) because it consistently works better than my brand new Lenovo. Furthermore, Lenovo has the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

Other Thoughts: I love the computer when it works, I just wish Lenovo had better customer service and could fix my computer

4 out of 5 eggsSo far, no problems

Pros: The system has a nice large 17" screen, the memory can be upgraded to 16GB. I have been using it now for several months, no problems.

Cons: If you use the system for sometime, on your lap, it does get hot.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Machine

Pros: I'm using this more as a mobile desktop replacement. Bought this laptop solely for audio production purposes. Was a little worried about latency issues, but the DPC latency checker shows it steady around 120 µs, and I've had absolutely no troubles recording and mixing multitrack audio, using effects realtime, and multitasking. Runs extremely quiet (a huge plus for audio), and stays very cool as well.

This is an upgrade from an old q6600 desktop, and although I was worried going back to dual-core from a quad, the performance has done nothing but increase thanks to the i5 in this thing. Put an SSD inside with a fresh install of Windows 7, moved the HDD into the optical slot with a caddy, and will upgrade to 8gb memory. Love the optional power of the GT 630M graphics.

Mine looks a bit more black than brown, but I'll take it. Really looks and feels nice all the way around. Is actually not as much of a fingerprint magnet as I expected. 17" screen is fantastic, feels very sturdy (more so than expected), and is excellent for the price.

Cons: Took a bit of setup time to get the SSD in. Was a bit of bloatware on the original HDD, but since I did a clean install on the SSD anyway, it wasn't much of a bother.

More of a desktop replacement, so can't really comment on it's mobility. (These days, I use a smartphone when out and about anyway...) As others have said, the screen does feel a tad bit fragile, although that might just be jitters from not wanting to break a brand new screen. It's a good design, but wouldn't be that confident taking it out and about everyday.

Other Thoughts: Did a lot of research before buying. This seemed to be the best bet, and I am extremely happy with this purchase. Fantastic power, a great price point, runs cool and quiet, has the graphical punch over integrated graphics with that GT 630M, and looks very sleek and nice. All the way around, impressive.
