3 out of 5 eggsFreezes!

Pros: Was on sale, very light, nice screen.

Cons: Freezes when doing a task other than web browsing.

Other Thoughts: Cannot recommend for someone who needs it for school.

5 out of 5 eggsAn Excellent Laptop

Pros: Pros are:
-Good battery life, esp. in low-power mode I am getting about 6 hours.
-Handles games pretty decently for a laptop
-Keyboard is nice
-Materials/fit and finish are high quality
-SDXC support
-WiDi support
-Fast Resume with Windows 8

Cons: -There is some flex in the keyboard as you type
-Wifi cards are whitelisted in the BIOS, meaning you can only select from a small number of Lenovo parts if you want to swap...I would have loved a dual-band card with Bluetooth but can't get a Lenovo-approved one for any price
-Windows 8 installed with no downgrade rights to Windows 7

Other Thoughts: This is an awesome laptop in its own right, made even better by a relatively low price for an Ultrabook. Ignore everyone complaining about the Wifi issues, those are a thing of the past. This is a very powerful laptop with great battery life. I promptly took off Windows 8 and put on Windows 7, but if you aren't comfortable in the BIOS and with partitioning tools, do not attempt. The hybrid SSD/HDD setup makes it somewhat more difficult than it used to be. If you want Windows 7, there are still some U410s for sale with Win7 installed. The 3rd gen Ivy Bridge processor rips Blu-Rays quickly and also does a REALLY nice job with WiDi, seamlessly streaming video content to my 47" HDTV with less than 100ms lag.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: *Great price.
*Super portable, light and durable.
*Looks great.
*Quiet and cool, most of the time. Replaced an HP laptop that always overheated and made a lot of noise.

Cons: *I was confused about the "32GB SSD" description. I thought this might mean I could install the OS on the SSD, and I would have separate storage. It is not a separate drive.
*People always think it's a Macbook ;)

Other Thoughts: I have heard of people having battery or wifi problems with the Lenovo ideapad, but after 6 months I have experienced zero problems with my laptop. I use it for work and play and it never fails or slows down. I bought it on sale, and it came with a free 1-year warranty. It was a better purchase than I expected!

2 out of 5 eggsLenova ideapad U410

Pros: Great price for a very portable notebook. Almost outperforms my 3 year old toshiba with a 1st gen i-5 cpu and 8gb of ram.

Cons: For some reason this laptop shuts down completely every 2-3 weeks and you have to open the bottom (voiding the warranty) disconnect the battery, plug in the power to turn on, turn it off, re-connect the battery. Very annoying when this happens in the middle of working on a big project.

Other Thoughts: Great laptop but with very usual problems reported by many lenovo ideapad owners. These ultrabooks are affordable but you end up giving up some reliability.
