5 out of 5 eggsRefurbished EliteBook 8560w

Pros: I was looking for a sturdy, dependable laptop to run Pro Tools. I use an Elitebook at work, and thrilled to see the Elitebook as a recommended platform on Avid's site. I was somewhat cautious because of the 'refurbished' tag, but did my research and took a chance mainly because of the price.
It came in a brand new sealed box with a 1 year warranty! In a nutshell, I saved a ton of money and could not be more satisfied! Thanks for a great deal, NewEgg!!

4 out of 5 eggsRefurbished EliteBook 8560w

Pros: Packed in a new HP EliteBook 8560w box with all accessories unopened. It also came with a 1 year Parts/Labor warranty. No dings / hardware defects - looks brand new. Right now, I'm very satisfied and ready to R'nR with Protools.

Cons: None so far

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Good

Pros: 1. The bottom plate/hood is simple to remove making it easy to work on and add upgrades.
2. Feels very study. Not obnoxiously heavy though.
3. Indicator lights for everything are nice and bright.
4. Typing feels pretty good. Not much travel and not as chicklet feeling as some.
5. Plenty of power, room for RAM.
6. Secondary mouse control on middle of keyboard with 3 buttons below (more options)

Cons: 1. Mine had a ding on the top/front. I don’t mind, I saved $600
2. The fan ran loud without running any programs (before switching to SSD)
3. Screen quality and clarity is not brilliant (I have a 13.3 Acer that is much better)
4. Display port is nice but its not hdmi, without an adapter.
5. 17 inch would have been a nicer picture
6. Backlit keyboard is a nice perk.
7. Seems a little dated, $800 spent on a new Acer or Asus rig would have been a much nicer screen but probably felt flimsy and cheap after a year.
8. The touchpad tries to imitate a mac – scroll with 2 fingers, zoom in and out by pinching. Not nearly as responsive as an Apple or even my Acer (that makes it feel a little old).

Other Thoughts: Bought this for the office. Has a business class feel to it, like a Mac’s aluminum shell almost. As an accountant I appreciate the full keyboard with numberpad, the i7 processor (overkill) and the ability to upgrade the RAM easily.

I bought MS Office 2010 and a Samsung SSD 256gb along with it. After installing Win 7 Pro on the SSD without the included HP bloatware plus the solid state awesomeness it is quite quick. Soluto says boot time is 34 seconds. Originally the fan seemed to run all the time and was a little noisy, whether taxing the system or not.
Overall I think I really like it. It’s a shame I have to put a SSD in every computer though.

5 out of 5 eggsWow!

Pros: For a refurbished unit it looks new!. Let me state the one I received(this model above) comes with Bluetooth, Webcam, Back-lit Keyboard!, Intel Ultimate 6300 ABGN Card, 1920x1080p screen, 2670QM cpu. It does have 4x ram slots. I am currently running 16GB. It came with HP Box, 150Watt Hp Charger, Decent Battery(2-3 hours), 3 Recovery Discs! It performs great. Does get hot when you use graphic demanding apps. I might try to re-paste everything. I believe these are refurbished by hp. The warranty on newegg states 90 days but when I do the Hp warranty check i'm not sure if its 6 months or 1 yr. When it ships it is double-boxed which was surprising.

Cons: Battery Life 2-3 hours. But this is a desktop replacement.

CPU 7.4
RAM 7.4
Graphics 6.9
Gaming 6.9
HDD 7.9

Other Thoughts: WEI Scores (Crucial M4 SSD 16GB Ram)
