Pros: The finger scanner until it too started to go intermittent. Nice looking.
Cons: After 8 months we are thoroughly disappointed in HP and it's total lack of customer care. Apparently the warranty means very little to them. The first thing to go was the hard drive, which we took into a store that services hp products but then it was still acting weirdly. HP tech support guided me through troubleshooting over the phone and then sent out a new dvd drive for me to replace. It seemed okay for a while but my wife had problems with the keypad selecting things on screen without her touching it and then the finger scanner started to fail so it would not recognize her finger. The cover for it was becoming loose. Then my wife left it next to her bed at night then opened it next morning to find a round black dot on the screen which grew and grew with use as the lid was flexed as it was opened and closed until there was a crack right across the screen. Any how it was shipped off to HP with an explanation of all the problems. We heard nothing and then after 10 days of it being gone my wife chased them up and they said they wanted $350 to fix the screen, No mention of the other problems, no consideration of all the hassle we had already gone through with it. My wife was furious and HP offered to fix it for $175, she refused as it hadn't been damaged but HP insisted it must have been accidental damage. Eventually my wife said if they would fix it for $100 she would pay that just because she wanted it back. They refused and offered to send a screen back with it for $55 for us to fix it ourselves!!!! She refused and now they are sending it back unrepaired. They didn't even look at the finger scanner or look into why it seemed slow for an i5 with 8GB of RAM. The most uncaring company I or my wife have ever dealt with. Nothing but hassle from start to finish.
Other Thoughts: I have had laptops for years through my work and have moved them around in and out of my truck day in day out for years and NEVER had the problems we had with this one but then I never had a HP! My wife has been ill this past year and has barely left the house with this laptop, in fact I think it has only left once. But this thing has been nothing but a problem. HP must make very FRAGILE laptops.
