1 out of 5 eggsworst hp laptop I have ever owned

Pros: it's fast

Cons: operating system is horrible, keyboard works like it's been abused by a pack 3 year olds. keys miss, space bar misses all the time. What makes this especially frustrating is my dad has a dv9 that was purchased from elsewhere and his keyboard has worked perfect from day one. Mine is pretty much boarderline defective.

Other Thoughts: I will never buy a laptop from newegg. and I'll think twice about buying another hp laptop. It has been endlessly frustrating to use.

5 out of 5 eggsI'm in love!!!

Pros: This beast is fast. Plays Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas at 1920x1080 Ultra High Quality with smooth graphics. I loaded a scenario with many followers and enemies and it just handled it. Handles editing and converting HD video well. The 1920x1080 screen is eye popping. Real nice feel to keyboard.

I would stack this machine up against Alien Ware and other machines costing twice as much.

While people have complained about refurbshed machines, mine looked brand new with no scuffs, scratches or other visible defects.

Cons: Like all 17 inch machines, it is bit heavy. It meets my needs, but I wouldn't try using this on an airline tray table.

With i7 Quad core and Full HD screen I get 3-4 hours of battery life. Again, this was expected and meets my needs.

Windows 8!!!! I embrace change and got Win 8 working, but this is one klugy interface. The Envy has enough power to handle Win 8 smoothly, but is definitely a step back from Win 7.

Other Thoughts: While the combination if price and dedicated video memory got me to buy now, but even at full price this machine is a bargain for those who want heavy duty video editing and/or a great game machine. A friend bought the AMD A-8 version and it is also great for video editing. He doesn't play demanding games, so no first hand experience.

1 out of 5 eggsI will never buy hp again

Pros: fast hardware

Cons: HP shouldbe ashamed of themselves. I have never been so disappointed with a purchase in my entire life. The motherboard is win8 specific so you cannot even downgrade to win7. Something I found out that they didon purpose. If I wanted a proprietary laptop I would have bought a mac. On top of that nonsense they installedso much crapware that windows internet explorer runs like youreon dial up when you actually have 30mb service.

If it weren't for the fact I spent so much on this pile I would have thrown itin the trash pile a weekago. I have never owned a laptop that's so insanely difficult to use. And I am no novice to computers....

Other Thoughts: Avoid HP until they figure out that customers, not corporate profits are whats important.
I would appreciate someone from newegg or hp doing something about this giant waste of my time called a hp laptop.

2 out of 5 eggs2 weeksin and I dislike thislaptop

Pros: good price for the power

Cons: operating system is horrible, and the intel wireless display does not work. I'm so angry I spent this money on a sub quality laptop. and as someone else stated the keyboard sucks badly! I have to double hit the keys often!

Other Thoughts: avoid this laptop. the longer I have it the more I dislike it.
Iwould really like for neweggto get ahold ofme and replace this pile of fecies.

4 out of 5 eggsWINDOWS 8 IS HORRIBLE!!!!

Pros: Great price for a super powerful laptop. The screen is super crisp and clear, the hard drive storage space is great, the memory and processor are more than enough to handle the intense cad cam work I do. In most aspects the hard ware is great.

Cons: The keyboard is mediocre compared to the hp dv9000 I owned previously, The space bar has to be pressed down much firmer than any other keyboard I've used on a laptop. It's seriously irritating!

My biggest issue though is with this lame duck operating system windows 8. I've always been one to go ahead and run new operating systems, I even liked windows vista believe it or not! But I cannot stand windows 8. they should rename it windows H8.
I even went though all of the tutorials that came with windows 8 and I still cannot stand it. Who ever came up with the concept for the concept for windows 8 needs to lay down the bong and the crack pipe and get back to business.

Other Thoughts: considering no one sells a top of the line computer without windows8 right now I suggest buying a copy of windows 7 winth this laptop.

and ps, this keyboard sucks
