4 out of 5 eggsHP 7229wm

Pros: Fast,
Reliable,
Quad-core,
Handles most games i throw at it on Med-Low settings

Cons: I know the warranty is probably gone by now, but it tend to get hot, 65C when on idle, probably just a laptop thing, idk.

Other Thoughts: little disappointed by the 5400RPM HDD that it came with, was easily fixed by an SSD

4 out of 5 eggsOverall good laptop

Pros: Handles the tasks I throw at it quick and easily, crisp clear screen, boots up and shuts down quickly. The price was good.

Cons: Windows 8 takes some getting used to, slow hard drive speed (5400 rpm), the typical bloatware that comes with such OEM machines

Other Thoughts: Swapped out the stock 750GB 5400rpm HDD for a 256GB SATA III SSD (Corsair Neutron Series), which has speed the computer up considerably.

5 out of 5 eggsHP ENVY DV6

Pros: -Very Fast
-Stays Cool
-Great Audio Output
-Minimal/No Bloatware
-Light

Cons: - TrackPad is not great

Other Thoughts: Purchase:
I am a college engineering student. I was looking for something that could handle heavy usage that was reasonably affordable. This one stood out due to the price and the listed specifications of the machine. I purchased this laptop for a shade over $500USD. It is a refurbished CPU. Currently (at the time of this review) it is listed at $730USD. I would say that this CPU is every bit worth the 500ish I paid for it and I would still be satisfied with the laptop if I paid the $700. Totally worth it.

Performance Notes:
This can handle anything I have thrown at it with ease. I have thrown Ableton, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Rosetta Stone, etc. without seeing processing speed being affected. I am not sure about its high-end gaming potential since I am not a high-end gamer. I have played CIV 5, Age of Empires 3, and a few others without having any issues. I am sure it would be able to handle the high end games without any issue.

This stays very cool even when being used for long periods without an external ventilation/cooling pad. And it vents out the left side so the air doesn't blow on your hand when being used. (<- First-world problems)

Audio/Visual:
Sounds great. Comes with Beats Audio in the laptop speakers themselves. I don't particularly care that it has Beats audio in it but the audio card is great and can allow for some very high hertz (Hz) values. Speakers are loud and pretty clean for laptop speakers. Do yourself a favor and get some good headphones (I recommend V-Moda) and you will be blown away. Visual runs at 1366x768. Not bad. Not Great. Pretty much standard. No idea what the fps runs at as default. (I don't really care either.)

Software:
Came with Windows 8 and HP standard software. I usually get rid of half of the HP software as I know of better programs or don't need what is initially provided. This doesn't really carry much significance since you will setup your CPU how you want anyway.

Features:
Very light and easy computer to move around with.
Comes with three USB ports.
1x HDMI
1x VGA
1x MultiCard reader

The pad is not good. Who cares? Buy a mouse. Problem solved.

I am very satisfied with this product. I would recommend this product to a friend. 9/10
