2 out of 5 eggsHP ENVY Ultrabook - Touchscreen

Pros: Nice design, good built, touchscreen. Powerful Intel CPU good for multitasking and Memory 8GB is OK for smoothly run Windows 8 OS.

Cons: The problem with HP-Ultrabooks is Hard Drive. The hard drive with 5400 RPM very-very slow for Win 8 OS.
It takes 2-5 minutes to complete the tasks.
The Touchscreen 10mm thick.

Other Thoughts: Quote: Powerful components and cutting-edge technology.
If the HD with 5400RPM is the cutting edge, I don't have word. The Screen of Ultrabook 10mm thick. My opinion for Ultrabooks that's no good.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat system, however....

Pros: Very responsive, good touch screen, free 200MB per month of T-Mobile wireless is brilliant for checking emails etc when out of Wi-Fi hot spots - a very good idea. All the features you would expect in a laptop of this calibre

Cons: I needed a Windows 8.1 implementation for a very specific business environment. The 8.1 upgrade was an absolute nightmare - see below..

Other Thoughts: This laptop would have received an excellent rating however it came with Windows 8.0...

No problem, so I thought - download the automatic upgrade to 8.1. Seven hours later, after 11 further attempts and having accessed literally hundreds of websites researching the problem (HP support is non-existent - and one of the websites referencing the error generated by this upgrade showed that it had been accessed over 10,000 times!).

Eventually resolved it by going back to basics and reinstalling the Windows 8 operating system - at which stage, it identified the Intel Bluetooth adapter as being an issue. After disabling the adapter, the install went smoothly and the upgrade to 8.1 completed without any issue.

If it was not over a weekend when I had some time to spare, I would have packed the system back into its box and returned it.

Message to HP - this is not a cheap, bottom of the range laptop; Windows 8.1 is not rocket science. It would be really, really appreciated if you could maybe have one of your engineers go through the process that I experienced, identify the issue and post the resolution procedure on your website. This would have saved me hours of frustration, probably save your support staff many hours of resolving issues such as this on a one-on-one basis. It would have also then received a 5 egg rating

Were not for the fact that the Microsoft 8.1 upgrade may be partly to blame in this regard, the rating would have been a single egg...

Please get your act together
