5 out of 5 eggsSix months in, loving this system

Pros: Lightweight, fast booting, does not overheat, quiet.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I've had this laptop now for six months, and I have to say I really love this system. Its power is impressive for the cost, certainly exceeding what I was expecting for what I paid. I was looking for a solid little laptop that I could get my e-mail, browse the internet, and do some ocasional work in Photoshop when my back hurt too much to sit at my custom built desktop system. This is the fourth laptop I've ever had, and it's the best by far. There really wasn't any bloatware of note, which is far too common with new laptops. Right away, that was a big plus. As mentioned in other reviews, I also like that the Operating System is included on disc. There are two discs-Windows 7 on one, and the drivers that were installed on the system on the second. I've reinstalled the included Windows 7 once, and it was quite easy.

The power this computer delivers, especially at the price point, is outstanding. It boots up quickly, and the 4 GB of memory is plenty for almost anything you could possibly ask the computer to do. I can be working in Photoshop, play a CD or listen to something on Pandora, or Youtube, and have several Chrome with several tabs open, and I rarely get any kind of hiccup. If I experience any lockup in Chrome, it's a browser specific issue, and not to do with the laptop itself. Since I am now on disability, I spend most of my time in bed. I place the laptop on a lap board, and it never overheats, even after several hours of consistent use. I'd debated getting a laptop cooler, and I'm glad I didn't get it. It was unnecessary. I am considering upping the memory on this system to 8 GB as I'd like to use it for some gaming. This laptop will support up to 16 GB-there are two banks (slots)

I had one minor complaint when I first unpacked the system. The design of the system creates a bit of a sharp edge at the very bottom. I thought that I might scrape up my wrists, but after a few days, I got used to it, and it's never caused any irritation whatsoever. It turns out I was worrying needlessly. Typing is comfortable. The keyboard is responsive, and having a keypad to the right side is a nice touch. I am still trying to get used to the touchpad being over a little to the left, but it seems this has become the norm now. The touchpad is responsive and accurate. Double-tapping the pad in the upper left corner will deactivate the pad.

The wireless connectivity is great. I can stream Netflix, and any of the Premium cable channel mobile sites with no problem. Movies and tv shows look wonderful on the screen. The webcam is fair. You can use it to Skype, but don't expect it to be high def. That's a minor complaint.

Overall, this system has exceeded my expectations. I cannot recommend this laptop enough.

1 out of 5 eggsSkip It

Pros: The computer turns on and is lightweight.

Cons: The computer isn't the same color shown on the website, and the fan makes a terrible noise that makes it really unpleasant to use. I have had the same model of HP before, and never had any problems though.

5 out of 5 eggsOverall Good

Pros: Came in 2 days. A reliable laptop for a first time laptop user and buyer. Quick and very nice looking. Screen is very nice, key board is spaced a little but not where it will frustrate you. Long battery life. comes with an OS disk and recovery disk.

Cons: none as i can see

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for the product key to upgrade your laptop to an ssd, the product key is where you place the battery.

5 out of 5 eggsHP Probook 450 G1

Pros: Great laptop for the price and it came with Win 7, and not Win 8, thankfully.

Cons: Not *really* a CON, but a case would have been a nice added feature.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Low Budget Laptop

Pros: It's a very quick and simple pc. I had no trouble setting it up and cleaning out the minimal junk ware that came installed. I installed an antivirus program and Microsoft Office 2013 without any issue. It has a brilliant start up and shut down time. I love the Windows 7 OS and the i3 core is very powerful for a low end processor. It runs WoW and streams video without frame rate or lag issues.

Cons: The keyboard is a bit spaced out but after a day or two you will adjust to it and it types very fluidly.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice!

Pros: I hate Windows 8, again, hate. So since I had to upgrade my laptop due to XP not being supported and it was on its last leg anyway, I opted for Windows 7. Best decision ever!

I love that Windows 7 is preloaded, but that you have the disc with SP1 upgrade and an actual recovery disc. No preloaded advertisements and runs nice and smooth. Set up was a breeze. Could not be happier!

Cons: None! Hopefully there will not be any.

Other Thoughts: Thank you Patrick C. it was your initial comment that confirmed my interest in this purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsHP Probook 450

Pros: After shopping for almost a week, I decided to purchase this laptop. I use it for business and personal access. The body is sturdy, with a rubberized top and the keys are not so bad, they are larger than most. Setting up was pretty easy, no bloatware compared to others I have had. I have used plenty of brands but not an HP over the last 20 years. Key pad on the side, perfect for accounting people. So far all the keys work. As soon as you get it, install your security immediately, had a little problem with pop ups and if you do, remove cookies from your Mozilla or Microsoft. Now no more pop ups. Perfect computer! This is an I3 and its pretty fast. Glad I talked to a computer expert on the processor. Thanks HP for listening to the consumer. I was hesitant to buy this, glad I did.

Cons: I had to update Windows that took over an hour, but not a big deal.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Buy

Pros: Windows 7
Pretty good processor
Nice screen
Good battery life
OS disk
Good sound for a laptop, plenty loud
Feels sturdy
Plenty of USB ports
Doesn't get hot sitting on my lap
Webcam
Easy to access wifi and mute buttons

Cons: -I wish the touch pad had a slidebar feature that my two previous laptops have had, where you can slide your finger down the very edge of the trackpad and it would scroll down a page.
-My left ctrl key doesn't work

Other Thoughts: The graphics seem to be decent. I run AutoCad on here and other 3D structural software and it doesn't seem to have any issues keeping up. At least it isn't slower than I expected it to be.

The wifi is very bad right out of the box. But after a few hours, the HP updater runs and downloads some updates which fix that problem. I would recommend getting this laptop plugged in to a hardwired internet connection right away to get the updates downloaded, because otherwise it has a hard time even doing that. But again, as soon as it has been updated, I have had no problems with it.

5 out of 5 eggsGenuinely impressed.

Pros: I ordered this for a parent who is a professor.

I'm just going to say that this machine has challenged everything I've come to expect from HP from years of pro and consumer IT work. See the other thoughts section for the things that truly surprised me...

Physically, it's very well built for the price. Comes with Windows 7 (a huge plus) and Haswell i3. It strikes a good balance of looks, durability, and ease of upgrade.

The way the bottom panel is designed makes it very easy to access the internals for cleaning and upgrade. Everything is right there.

Trackpad has texture, and nothing is "glossy" on it. Rubberized lid is nice too.

I'm extremely impressed with the build quality. This is not the same sort of HP laptop I'm used to dealing with- not by a long shot.

Cons: Only a couple, and not worth dropping eggs over:

-Chiclet-y keyboard. I'm not a fan, but everything has those now. It is pretty solid though.

-Some versions of this have a fingerprint reader. This one has a little plastic filler where it would go. A minor cosmetic thing, also not uncommon, and also not worth dropping eggs over.

Other Thoughts: Here's what genuinely surprised me.

IT COMES WITH AN OS DISC. A real, actual, Windows 7 re-install DVD (as well as a driver disc.)

I scarcely believed it myself. There is also a very notable lack of bloatware here. There isn't even a preinstalled trial of crummy, bloated AV software- instead, I was prompted to install MS Security Essentials.

This is simply fantastic. None of the things I have come to hate about HP machines are here. And it comes with an OS disc. The best part is that I won't even have to do a clean Windows install to make it usable.

I bought this because of the specs and the Windows 7, but I never expected to be impressed like this- certainly not at this price point. I can also spend 5 hours of my life doing other things instead of de-bloating it (in the past, I'd just do a clean install out of the box.)

HP has made me very happy today. Here's hoping they keep this up.
