3 out of 5 eggsReview

Pros: It was a cheap buy at under $500.

Cons: Cheap construction, mouse pad difficult to use(recommend getting a mouse), very loud(make sure to turn the setting to 'power saver' seems to help.

Other Thoughts: I would honestly spend a couple hundred extra and get something that's better quality, if I could do it over again would've gone that route. This computer is not a bad buy if the price stays below $500 but wouldn't pay more than that for it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop for $430

Pros: Price ($430 at time of purchase, I would not buy it for its current price of $800. Especially for a refurb that is a terrible price)

Cons: Glossy reflective screen, no cd burner unless I am missing something,

Other Thoughts: If you can find this laptop for around $430 which is what I bought it at, then it is a fantastic steal. Great specs for a low price.

4 out of 5 eggsNot a bad laptop for the right purposes

Pros: It's a great laptop, really. It looks nice, operates nice, and does what it's supposed to.
....AFTER I got rid of Windows 8. I put Windows 7 onto this laptop, reinstalled the drivers myself, and it felt much more comfortable.

Cons: However! I bought this laptop to play TERA: Rising away from home. I knew I wouldn't get anything special ahead of time, but I bought it because of reviews claiming everything ran on highest graphics just fine with no lag. I'm curious as to what these people's definitions of "no lag" are, but I average about 15 fps on the complete lowest settings. On my PC, I get 50-80fps on highest settings, so you can imagine the difference there.

The only other thing I can think of is the keyboard feels fairly flimsy but, it isn't that big of an issue.

Other Thoughts: Overall, this laptop's great. It does what it's supposed to, as you'd expect. I know for a fact it will run simple games and older games quite well, but as for newer games I wouldn't waste your money on it. Save another $100 and build your own PC! At least then, you'll be able to periodically upgrade parts as you need to.

And if you aren't a gamer or a heavy video editor, this laptop's pretty much perfect for you. Just get rid of Windows 8 first. :)

4 out of 5 eggsRefirb HP Pavilion 17-e049wm

Pros: The computer came as expected, started fast, and so far hasn't slowed down. I bought this to be a school and casual gaming computer, and I actually got more than I expected in terms of gaming. I play lots of Source games (TF2, GMOD, Portal, etc.), and just about any source game you throw at this paired with Razer game booster you'll get high setting (no antialiasing though), at 60-90 fps. If you don' wanna risk using game booster, medium settings can get you 60-75 fps in terms of those same source games. Only other game I tried for refrence is Skyrim, which I needed to tune down to medium settings and 720p to get it between 30-40fps, but thats the only game thus far I've had to drop out of native 1600x900, otherwise it can handle most you toss at it. Its great for casual gaming as long as you don't mind the minor choppiness of no antialiasing. As for other basic programs, the computer eats them up with this processor, no worries at all.

Cons: Though it came with windows 8.1 installed already, I'm very unhappy with it. Its a fairly lousy OS, and when I get an extra cash for an external hard drive I'm gonna wipe this drive and install windows 7 so I can have a decent OS again. 8.1 is still too focused around looking for things that were easy to access before, rather than just keeping it user friendly. I feel bad docking an egg for just the OS but it really has slowed me down from what I'm used to, so its significant enough for me. Otherwise, the specs are great, but be prepared to cope and attempt to deal 8.1, unless you go the windows 7 route too.

Other Thoughts: The computer is a great machine. I got it when it was $439 and it was definitely a great deal, but yeah, if you get past windows 8.1 its a fantastic machine.

1 out of 5 eggsLaptop is dead

Pros: Decently fast, was able to handle any game on low graphics, many games higher than that.

Cons: It is dead. It won't turn on, even with the charger plugged in. I purchased the warranty, so I am using that. If you are dead set on buying this, make sure you get the warranty or you will be out of luck and very angry. Would NOT buy again.

3 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

Pros: Fast Processor
Lots of Storage Space
Cheap Price
Good All-Around Performance
Seems to be a new product

Cons: Windows 8
Flimsy Construction
Lots of Bloat-ware

Other Thoughts: I bought this laptop as a replacement for my A6-3420M laptop. I wanted something cheap but powerful. I decided to go for the highest powered AMD chip with a 17" screen for as cheap as I could get. The performance is great once you dump the bloat-ware, it gets 7.1, 7.2 for processor and ram, and 6.7 for graphics. Like all HDDs it's limited to 5.9.

There are many faults I've found with the Laptop initially, the first is Windows 8... Still sucks, if its not a touchscreen it should be windows 7...

The biggest fault I've found with this laptop is its build quality... It doesn't feel sturdy at all, my previous Acer laptop could take a serious beating and keep going without issue, I feel like this one wouldn't stand a very small drop or bump. I don't even want to carry it with one hand because it flexes so much. I've had the laptop for a day and the keyboard has already "popped-out" in the middle. Also there is a rattling sound coming from the internals (if I tilt the laptop left and right I can hear a piece of something sliding back and forth). I'll wait to send the device in for service since if its just a lose piece that doesn't matter I don't really care...

The the final two faults are very minor, first is that it has a pretty slow/weak internet connection. I have a 600mbps wireless router and 150mbps internet and I can only pull about 40mbps in the same room as the router... My last laptop could pull 65mbps under the same conditions...

The final fault is that the keyboard is the same size as it would be on a 15" (or even smaller) laptop. This means its awkward to use on a lap because naturally your hands are spread wider to hold it but on this you have to keep them closer to the center...

The short of it is that I paid $424.00 for a laptop with an A10 5750 processor, 8 gigs of ram, and a 750gb HDD. It says refurbished but I would be willing to bet these were defective units that never made it to a customer because this laptop looks mint. It's a deal you can't find anywhere, I plan on using it on a desk and bringing my old laptop around for travel.

In case you're wondering the "wm" at the end of the name means this is a w4lm4rt (newegg wouldn't let me say the name) specific laptop. It came with a single W4lm4rt app as part of its bloat-ware, other than that I can't tell...

Hope it helps!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good price. Roomy hard drive. The integrated graphics are not bad. The screen is large and the higher than normal resolution is nice.

Cons: No gigabit wired Ethernet. No dedicated microphone in jack. No key combination to disable the touch pad. Very limited BIOS options (I like to tweak a little bit). It seems to run very hot. As other reviewers have mentioned the viewing angles suck.

Other Thoughts: I am pleased with the laptop especially given the price. It plays casual and older games well. I can even play Mechwarrior online in a pinch if I turn the graphic options all the way down.

Most of my "cons" are nit picky. It really is a good laptop. I would say the two biggest draw backs are how warm it runs and the poor viewing angles of the screen.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good Graphics Card
Great Hard Drive space
Respectable RAM

Cons: Windows 8 slightly glitchy; disabling some features helps

Other Thoughts: Considering its lightning-fast bootup and its capable processor/graphics card combo, this is a great laptop for the price.
Runs most games on mid-high graphics level, but had issues with a console port (Injustice).
Possesses any and all ports an average user needs: USB, HDMI, SD card, Ethernet port, video output, and headphones.
Arrived quickly and in perfect condition.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat computer for a great price!

Pros: Fast start up! Windows 8. A lot for your money. Long battery life. Overall a great computer!

Cons: Windows 8 app store has a lot of errors.

Other Thoughts: Overall a great computer. As other buyers have said it is a brand new computer. if the box didn't say refurbished on it I would believe its brand new. No marking or signs of being used. I have had a lot of problems with the windows 8 app store but from what I have read a lot of people do so i dont believe it has anything to do with the computer. The Problems have been pretty easy to fix. I like windows 8 overall, it does take some getting used to though. Overall a great computer for a great price!
