2 out of 5 eggsNice but charging problem

Pros: Received it fast. Its clean, looks close to new.

Cons: The computer only works when plugged in. It isn't charging properly. Charges for a few seconds, then status goes to "plugged in, not charging". I'll see how fast and good this gets resolved, I've only had the computer for a week. Then I'll update my review.

Other Thoughts: 80G hard drive is really only 71G, and more than 10G of that is soaked up by Windows.

4 out of 5 eggsNewEgg Customer Service Prevails

Pros: Awesomely Cheap Laptop, at a decent price

Cons: First one was a dud, had to ship back due to a bad keyboard. Positive was NewEgg Customer Service. They paid for the return shipping, the RMA process was flawless, and the replacement PC rocks!

Other Thoughts: Thank Goodness for Newegg Customer Service

4 out of 5 eggsQuite Pleased

Pros: Obviously the price, $145-$50rebate-10%($15) VCO promo code = $80 Win 7 laptop. :)
In spite of a few minor scratches, it is in great cosmetic shape overall (except as stated below), and appears to be very sturdy construction.
Setup was quick, and easy and it runs reasonably fast for only having 2Gb of ram.
The laptop arrived in half the promised time using the newegg's free shipping service.

Cons: The rubber cap on the pointing stick was a bit grungy, and is starting to come apart at the corners, but i was able to get a new set of 5 caps for $4 so not a huge problem.
The power supply functions perfectly, but the cable entry connector is cracked and bent so that the cable enters at about 30 degrees off of straight. so far it has caused no problems, and it doesn't seem likely that it will any time soon.
The Battery only holds its charge for about 10 minutes (which, sadly, is better than my last laptop), but i was able to find a NEW replacement for under $15, and also got one of the external travel batteries (used) to extend the life further.
My biggest concern is that i have thus far been unable to expand the 2Gb of ram. i have an old laptop with compatible memory but after adding 2Gb from the other laptop this one would not boot. it is possible that this is a problem with other PCs memory, but i don't recall that being an issue with that PC, at the moment i suspect that there may be an issue in the memory expansion slot, but cannot say that for certain. As stated above, the performance is reasonable for 2Gb but i will be spending some more time to try to get it upgraded to at least 4Gb
While the shipping was free and very fast, the package which was clearly marked HP Laptop was left at my doorstep rather than being taken to my apartment's office. Clearly i received it just fine, but it is a little concerning that it could have been stolen. If you live in an area where this could be a problem, you may want to pay for a shipping method which requires a signature.

Other Thoughts: Some people may find the cons mentioned above to be deal breakers, but after receiving $65 off of the cheapest laptop i could find, I didn't mind shelling out a few extra bucks for batteries and pointer caps to get it to the level that i desire.
Overall, I am quite pleased.

5 out of 5 eggsExactly What I Hoped For

Pros: Laptop was physically clean and in good shape
A clean install of Windows with no crapware.
Been using it for over a month and a half now with no issues.

Cons: None to speak of

Other Thoughts: Exactly what I wanted to replace an older ageing laptop. Hoping to skip Windows 8 altogether and wanted to get a solid all purpose Window 7 machine to fill the gap. This was perfect for my needs

5 out of 5 eggsHigh End for Low Price

Pros: Business Computer made 100% better than home computers. Most wires and cables double shielded, Hardened case, works great. Off Lease computers can be in bad shape but this one seems to have stayed on the shelve and unused. No wear on the keyboard or palm rest.

Cons: Small Hard Drive

1 out of 5 eggsDisgusting

Pros: It doesn't come with Windows 8

Cons: It looks like this laptop has been used for 10 years in an enterprise setting. There's years worth of dirt caked solid in the cracks that lay between the laptop's components and in the spaces between the keyboard's keys. There is a silky smooth hole worn out in the middle of the mouse trackpad by some other human's dirty fingers. The whole thing felt greasy, and I felt compelled to wash my hands after handling it for 3 minutes.

Other Thoughts: This isn't a refurbished laptop, it's a used one. And someone used the heck out of it.

I'm pretty disappointed with newegg, and I'm going to return it ASAP.
