2 out of 5 eggsEhhh

Pros: Ehhhh, Newegg has taken to the old bate and switch. Offer a product along with a gift card, but the gift card is a rebate that isn't clearly expressed as such. Laptop is OK, installed CentOS on it so have no idea how a normal user on Windows 8.1 would find it.

Cons: No Cons on the laptop but read the fine print before purchasing any special deals.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop after adding SSD on it

Pros: Great laptop for the price.. But you will never get a rebate from HP, (at one point they offered rebate on these laptops for a short time)
I cannot believe that they will lie so much to customers, I even called Newegg to confirm that im filling the rebate correctly, never received on mail.

Cons: As usual they make rebates tricky so they cannot give to customers even they offered...I will not buy anymore stuff that comes with rebate..

1 out of 5 eggsUseless product

Pros: This notebook has very good and shiny look. It is also relatively light weight.

Cons: Very bad wi-fi reception. Practically impossible to have continuous internet using wi-fi.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good for Cheap

Pros: I got this when it was a shellshocker for $200. At that price, almost any laptop is fantastic. It has pretty good hardware, dedicated graphics card, full sized keyboard.
Contrary to a couple reviews I read, there ARE drivers for windows 7, but you cannot go directly to HP for them. Just google the model number and I found a blog post that assembled all of the drivers you'll need (downloaded from various locations off the HP website)

Cons: The left mouse button on the touch pad doesn't work very well when pressed on the left side.
I really hated windows 8, but was able to install my copy of windows 7 (FYI it is a bit of a hassle if you aren't at all tech savvy)

Other Thoughts: Let's be honest, this is no one's dream laptop, it's great for sitting on the couch and surfing the internet and any of the other little PC tasks you do. not much else

5 out of 5 eggsgreat laptop

Pros: I got this laptop refurbished for a great price. The build of this laptop appears to be more sturdy then my previous HP. This is a great laptop for typical everyday use.

Cons: The battery life is a little short.

5 out of 5 eggsWindows 7 Works Great!!!

Pros: I did my homework before getting it. HP Doesn't have any Windows 7 drivers for this laptop on their website, but i did a few surfing and found all the drivers from various websites before this baby arrived, so when I got it, it took me two hours to have windows 7 up and running. Battery time is not to bad. Got it on sale with the $100 Rebate, can't beat that. The Network adapter Driver is for Qualcomm Atheros AR9485.

Cons: It comes with Windows 8 Installed.

Other Thoughts: It's a good idea to have a usb wifi adapter handy to get on the internet and get all your windows 7 updates and drivers. After that you can disregard the usb wifi adapter and you will have a windows 7 laptop.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Windows 7

Pros: Looks nice (if you don't mind fingerprints on gloss finish).

Cons: There are no network drivers available from HP for Windows 7.

Other Thoughts: If you are planning on keeping Windows 8, then disregard my review because it would not be an accurate assessment.

I am a firm believer that Windows 8 is only has merit in a touch screen environment. I purchased this laptop with the intention of installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. It was not until after I had formatted the hard drive that I found out that HP never made LAN or WLAN drivers for this model that are supported in 7. I contacted HP and they said that since I "degraded" my OS that they could not support the device and I should contact Microsoft. What a joke. Microsoft doesn't make the drivers, the manufactures do (HP). The WLAN card is a Qualcomm Atheros AR5B125, so I thought maybe I could find a generic driver for that card that is supported in Windows 7. No such luck. These Manufacturers can essentially force us to use an OS simply by not providing drivers and it is BULL. The only work-around I was able to find is to purchase either a USB WLAN adapter or a USB to Ethernet adapter that use their own drivers. This seems pretty stupid when you think about the LAN and WLAN that are built into the laptop that are basically useless.

If anyone can think of something I have overlooked here, I encourage you to write a review with that information in response.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty amazing value

Pros: Almost everything appeared as it if were brand new
It works
Fast enough for Windows 8.1 and non-gaming use
Large drive
Decent amount of memory

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Only worked with it for a little over a week.
Required over 100 Window 8 updates
Updating to Windows 8.1 was an overnight process
The combination of already low price and significant rebate makes this one of the best values I've ever purchased

5 out of 5 eggsCan't beat it

Pros: Excellent price for this laptop considering the rebate. For the average user you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal for the money. Upgraded RAM and OS (8.1 & Ubuntu) after receipt. Runs great. Altec speakers a plus. Look no further.

Cons: Remove the crumby Norton AV before upgrading OS.
