3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: it is a nice laptop after we got done with it.

Cons: when we first got the laptop it was very very very slow. Kept locking up and I was ready to send back. My son talked me into waiting and put in a ssd. Now it flies. so I am mixed on my review. I only gave it 3 stars in the beginning but now I would say 4.5

Other Thoughts: I dont know if it was a fluke why it was so slow. Also my F2 key broke. other than having to put in a new ssd it is very fast and just what I wanted. You also have to be careful downloading things. It wants to tag on alot of crapware.

5 out of 5 eggsHP Laptop

Pros: Anti-Glare screen. Hot Keys. Numeric Keypad. A fast 3rd Gen. Intel i3-core. Weighs only 5 pounds.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: With its anti-glare screen and 3rd Gen i3-core, this laptop works well in bright back-lit environments. The Windows 8 OS quickly established a HomeGroup network with my other Windows PC's; even easier than Windows 7.
I preferred this model over the touch screen (4th Gen. i3-cores) because it is less expensive and yet does everything I need it to do and it does it without any problems.
I also bought a Microsoft 4000 wireless mouse. It works very well, too. A great combination!

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what I tell it to, super affordable.

Pros: Doesn't feel fragile and cheap. Didn't think I'd like the keyboard because the buttons seemed small and light but it actually makes it easier to type; less stress on my wrist and hand. Didn't understand why the touch pad is shifted to the left but after using it I realized that it's ergonomically better that way, at least for me. Was suspicious of Win 8.1 because everyone rails against it but it isn't difficult to use at all. It looks and behaves like every other Windows OS, with a few add-ons and features.

I upgraded the RAM and replaced the hard drive with an SSD immediately so I don't know how it behaves without them but my system is super fast. And at such a great price, the upgrades didn't break the bank.

Webcam gets great quality. Windows is very customizable. Good battery life. And last, I don't know the correct way to describe it but the plastic is not sleek and shiny, which I love. No fingerprints!

Cons: Upgrading the RAM and changing the hard drive was a challenge. I've never opened up a laptop before and to get to the hardware in this one you have to remove the keyboard and plastic cover around it, unplug all kinds of things, and remove the fan. Ended up being fun because I love to tinker but navigating around was tough at first. The RAM is under the motherboard and there are absolutely no panels on the back of the computer to access it. Again, had fun doing it but initially wasn't impressed.

Other Thoughts: Was initially really suspicious of the quality of this pc because the price is so affordable, but now that I am using it I love it. I'm just a working student who plays Civilization here and there, chats with family, conducts research; this computer is perfect for my needs.
