4 out of 5 eggsGood Experience

Pros: Touch screen does not smudge as much as everyone seems to be complaining that it is. It is convenient to be able to create a split screen so I can work on a couple different things at once.

Cons: Windows 8 is fine, but still trying to figure out how some of the applications work. Also, I find that I am always accidentally switching between apps by swiping right but this can easily be fixed in the touch pad settings. The battery lasts 2-3 hours without being plugged in with medium brightness setting, but I can still bring it to class through out a day and use it as long as it is sleeping between class.

Other Thoughts: Does have some glare when you are in a bright room, so this sometimes makes it hard to see the screen.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic computer for the price

Pros: I see the price has gone up quite a bit since I bought this computer, but it is probably still a good deal for the price. At the time I bought it, there was nothing on the market that even came close for the money. The biggest factor for me was the decent (by my standards) processor and massive amount of RAM. I also wanted something I could do some moderate gaming on, mostly current indie games (mainly Wasteland 2) and several older games (mainly Fallout 3. notice a trend?), and this machine is more than up to the task of playing those games maxed out and super smooth, even better than my intel i7 laptop, surprisingly. I was wary of Windows 8, but this came with 8.1 preinstalled, and with the touch screen, I have gotten used to it quickly, and have actually come to prefer it, mainly for the speed of basic desktop computing. This thing screams on the desktop and doesn't break a sweat. I have managed to drop it once already, but it has stood up fine, and seems to be well constructed. I would not call it rugged, and I certainly would not put it in the hands of a child (and I definitely would not drop it again!), but it seems to be more than solid for my purposes. It feels relatively light, but I am used to working with a big chunky dell laptop at work. It's no ultrabook. It does look and feel nice, though. Overall, I really feel like I got a great deal here.

Cons: As others have noted, the shiny screen will attract fingerprints immediately. This is not a huge problem if there is not a tremendous amount of ambient light, in which case you generally have a bigger problem anyway: glare. The screen becomes part mirror when there's a lot of light in the room. Hope you like looking at your own face! The only other con I would note is the keyboard. They really went out of their way to emulate MacBook keyboards, so if you like those, I suppose you'll like this one, but I really don't care for it.

Other Thoughts: The first one they sent me had a messed up screen, but I was able to contact newegg, get an RMA and have the whole package back in the mail to them in less than an hour. I was disappointed that the laptop was damaged, but the customer service was stellar, and I had absolutely no problems getting a replacement, which has been nothing short of perfect. It looks and feels like a brand new computer. Not a scratch, not a blemish, nothing.

5 out of 5 eggsHP Envy Laptop

Pros: Had everything I wanted on a new Win 8.1 laptop. It had the Pro O/S, good memory at 12 GB, HDD touchscreen with great resolution, 10 point touch, good storage. Decent USB port system. HP build quality seems adequate but is not a Toughbook. A DVD player isn't needed. I had a Samsung portable which does the trick.

Cons: Battery life seems a little short with my work which is not graphics intensive. Scads of bloatware which seems to be an HP trademark. Takes an hour of spare time to clear out the trash. MacAfee always pops up and that's the first to go because Windows has an excellent security suite in Win 8 and 8.1.

Other Thoughts: I've had HP laptops for years. Service has been excellent for any problem I might have with HP. I had several MacBooks but was ready for Windows 8.1 that has been updated. I now find myself swiping at non touch systems by mistake. . This HP is light and portable enough.

5 out of 5 eggsJust Great

Pros: 1. Full HD
2. Powerful for it's price
3. Great value
4. Backlit keys
5. RAM oh the RAM

Cons: 1. No SSD (but for the price it makes since)
2. HP bloatware (I just did a fresh install of windows 8.1 and got the drivers from HP)
3. CPU runs hot (but the it's a CPU and GPU in one and it's AMD sooooo)

Other Thoughts: I love this laptop so much. It would be very difficult to find another laptop with similar specs for this price, also mine came without a scratch on it and looks new. I put a 256GB SSD that I had in there and a fresh install of windows and it runs fantastic with the 12GB of RAM. SO SNAPPY!

1 out of 5 eggsis this a joke?

Pros: Clean, touchscreen works.

Cons: Internet freezes every single time i use it, had to spend 4 hours trying to get IE to open, eventually had to download crome, and even that froze every 3 seconds.

Other Thoughts: RIP OFF.

4 out of 5 eggsHP Envy 15

Pros: -Amazing build quality, feels similar to a macbook, with the top being metal and bottom plastic. Very thin and surprisingly much higher quality than the brand new hp envy laptops I saw at a popular electronics store over the past weekend. Also has a back lit keyboard which lets me use this thing with ease in the dark. Looked brand new when I opened the box. Also noticed this was a refurb from HP themselves with a 90 day warranty,

-Great sound! the speaker is nice and loud and the beats software lets you tweak the sound.

-1080p resolution and 12gb of ram were the main reason I bought this laptop. Everything looks beautiful and crisp + runs nice and smooth. I can multitask and have 20 windows open with no slowdown.

-was also surprised to find out I can play Counter Strike: GO on this thing with no major issues on medium settings and 1920x1080 resolution and 40-60 fps

-Best deal I could find for the specs, so far so good and have had this thing for 3 weeks with no issues.

Cons: -Windows 8.1 but I'm getting used to it and it's not as bad as I thought it was. No chance of installing win 7 because of touchscreen and drivers issues

--Touchscreen is a cool feature but don't use it much since this screen tends to get a tiny bit dirty even without touching it!

-HP Bloatware taking up good resources.

Other Thoughts: Overall surprised and very happy with this purchase. As of writing this it is sold out and happy I got mine while I had the chance!

5 out of 5 eggsVery satisfied

Pros: Back lit keyboard, The processor and integrated graphics are surprisingly capable for medium gaming and running adobe software, 12GB Ram is awesome! Don't hate me, but for personal use I have started to enjoy windows 8 w/ the touch screen. Overall look is great I've bought refurbs before and have been a little disappointed but there has been no buyers remorse with this purchase so far. It looked brand new when I removed it from the packaging and I have had no issues with it thus far. It feels pretty solid and has a nice sleek look to it, very similar to the macbook. Almost forgot to mention all four usb ports are usb 3.0.

Cons: Like many others have said the screen is a smudge magnet. While the display is on you don't really notice the smudges, however the screen is so glossy that glare is a pretty common issue. Battery life is not amazing but it will get me through a couple of classes usually 3-4 hours on powersave mode. The thing that really bugs me the most is the placement of the power cable port. it is on the side and the plug makes a 90 degree turn and ends up being a little awkward as the ethernet and usb ports are right next to it. Lastly this came with windows 8 enterprise, which means you will not be able to update to windows 8.1 for free from the app store.

Other Thoughts: Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase, I can do some gaming, work in adobe indesign/illustrator and the machine runs great. The refurb had me worried but everything looked fantastic. I signed up for the 30 day shoprunner trial just in case it was damaged and when I went to cancel they offered me a 90 day free trial, which I think is the length of the warranty and they cover return shipping. All in all I am a happy camper

4 out of 5 eggsGood Deal

Pros: 12gb RAM, AMD A10, and cheap price. Touchscreen (If that is what you want). 1080p screen. Great speakers and webcam.

Cons: Screen is like a mirror and attracts smudges, turn your brightness up to get minimum reflection.

Other Thoughts: Has some horsepower, I can run Civilization 5, War Thunder, and World of Tanks on low/med graphics on 40-50 fps
