5 out of 5 eggsNo Major flaws....

Pros: Good design, feels solid and thin. Very good looking screen, the resolution isn't super high, (1200 x 800) but it has really good colors and you can't easily see the pixels.

GAMING:

This thing can play Left 4 Dead 2! and you can hook up an xbox controller via a micro usb to usb adapter.

Battery life is very good.

Touchscreen is very responsive, even with 4-5 touch points at once.

I'm usually not a fan of Dell, but I have to hand it to them, this is one of the best made tablet's I've ever used.

Cons: Most of my complaints are with windows 8 itself and not the hardware of the dell venue 8 pro. Minor software bugs here and there, and windows 8 takes some getting used to. Using the normal windows desktop on this tablet is both great because it's the interface everyone is so used too, but it can also be a tad bit tedious because you are touching very small buttons.

Other Thoughts: Windows 8 takes some getting used to, but ultimately I really like it. You get the awesome bonus of working around problems you encounter with the metro UI. For example, the netflix app from the windows store started doing this really weird bug that made it mostly unusable. So i simply opened google chrome on the desktop and watched netflix there!

3 out of 5 eggsthis tablet sucks for one reason

Pros: it runs smoothly I have no problems with the running functionality of this tablet--the touch screen is dead-on perfect it boots up fast and what games I installed from the store of Microsoft runs smoothly like ty Tasmanian tiger runs perfectly

Cons: built in 32 gig already has over 20 gig used up for windows--they should have pit a 32 gig flash drive for windows then a 32 gig flash drive for your programs you want to install

Other Thoughts: but the 64 gig version I know I plan on doing do and giving this one I have to my dad or someone else

4 out of 5 eggsDell Venue 8 pro

Pros: Does what is says. I bought this as a very light tablet for watching videos and as a very light portable computer for graphic design use. It runs fast for an atom cpu. And i was able to run PPSSPP emulator on it as well. It was a little choppy. But usable.

Cons: Now I knew about these issues before I bought the Tablet. But there is only one mini usb port. No hmi or plain usb ports here. Jsut one. And it is also used for charging. So you can either connect to a device like a mouse or usb flash drive or charge it. Also I was reading up were the stylus was giving issues. I did buy one, but that will take 3-5 weeks
. REMEMBER to update you dell drivers. I had issue with the touch screen before I did this. The Chrome browser tabs I had for bookmarks were a nightmare before the update.

Other Thoughts: I did buy this tablet from Dell directly on Feb 7th. Not Newegg. But Newegg did not have one in stock at the time. I would have as they have awesome shipping.

4 out of 5 eggsbest tablet at its price range and size.

Pros: Size (which to some people may end up as a con, but if you're in this page you are probably looking for a small tablet anyways)

FULL, yes FULL Windows version!
Battery Life

Cons: for the size of this tablet and price and features, none.

Other Thoughts: I got this off a local office supply store along w/ company discount and special price and got it down to 180bucks after tax which is great! (even if you pay 290bucks this thing is still great)

One thing that attracted me the most about this tablet is that this little thing is basically a full computer in a 8" form factor.. full windows version (32bit) not some windows RT bull.

I am able to install the major programs I run on my PC, I am even able to play PS1 emulators at 25-30FPS (which actually plays smooth) and ran 3Dmark Ice Storm and got 15.9k pts on it (average FPS on Graphics test is 70FPS while Physics test is 52FPS) Which is pretty darn good for a tablet this size and this price.

Sure the screen for a full desktop tablet is small, you are gonna need a stylus (the pointed one) to be precise with your touch, or buy a bluetooth keyboard w/ touch pad for mouse if you want or a bluetooth mouse?

I've seen youtube reviews on this and some even showed them using a Xbox controller on it which i think is pretty good.

Speakers are loud, surprisingly loud and I like it. Camera is so-so but passable, but if you are looking at this tablet the camera is probably is your least thing you're looking forward to use anyways, its the full windows feature that is what this tablet is all about.

Altho if you are buying this at full price, go for the 64Gb version instead, trust me you are gonna end up buying a micro SD card for the 32Gb since out of the box I believe if I remember it right the tablet only have 9Gb space left, since that 32Gb is being used to install the OS in it too and other updates and such.

64Gb version should give you around 41Gb free space out of the box (in my estimation) and that should be enough for productivity suites.

Saw people on youtube installed Photoshop and Lightroom on this one, I am surprised it even runs them.

The only downfall is the RAM in terms of performance, I wish it was 4GB ram and wish it was dual channel. heck even if this thing got an extra 1GB of ram (making it total of 3) would things a little more snappier. Loading big programs as Photoshop takes time for them to actually start loading up due to the RAM limitations, but the time it takes to load those big programs are tolerable. Office,Outlook, Word and such are no brainer for this tablet, I think it's actually meant for those things. just buy a bluetooth keyboard to make things easier and a good stylus and you're all set.

In the end, My advice is to go for the 64Gb version, this 32Gb will have barely enough space for a few programs. unless you already have a 64Gb micro SD laying around. then this may be you're choice.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Tablet

Pros: x86, quad processor, 2GB RAM, good battery life, good for the price (I got a deal)

Cons: No direct HDMI out, had to use a adapter and cannot be charged at the same time when docked.

Other Thoughts: Wish they had HDMI out of the box...

Pros: Nice fit and finish
Good processor
64GB recommended
Decent screen
Good web forum to read and rant issues on products

Cons: Touch doesn't work right even after Jan 2nd updates. Web browsing issue. Still needs to be fixed. There is a way to disable some features that bipasses this, but not a true fix.

Support is very polite with low sense of knowledge and less knowledge of Dell product remedy.

Stylus doesn't work, a replacement is being rolled out.
It also requires a battery. So far battery life is horrible as the pen stays active when placed in the case holder.

Uses a unknown active stylus technology that has caused major problems so far.

No HDMI

Folio case is a bit flimsy and expensive.

Dell's web connect for updates via the tablet sniffs the OS for all the content, but FAILS to recognize what patches have been installed. Making things difficult to diagnose and can force you to wipe the tablet and start from scratch.

The tablet was released with obvious issues and should have never hit the shelves.

Other Thoughts: This would have been great if....

1. Touch was problem free
2. Dell support was helpful
3. Stylus problem was announced to be corrected.

Too little too late.

5 out of 5 eggsPleasantly suprised

Pros: Really great value for the price, decent camera, decent sound, decent display, extremely fast performance thanks to SSD + quad-core processor. It's very comfortable to hold without a case (unlike a lot of other tablets) since the case is made of some sort of rubber, feels very sturdy and isn't likely to slip out of your hands.

Cons: Some bugs may confuse less knowledgeable users, despite the great value of this item it has just enough little quirks to it that your average joe probably won't know what to do when encountering some of these issues. One example is how the screen brightness adjustment seems to break when the automatic brightness adjustment setting is on (it's on by default), there is also an occasional glitch after logging in that causes the screen to blank out

Other Thoughts: Overall really great buy for me, I've generally had a pretty bad impression of Dell since some of the awful laptop series they produced in 2006-2009 were just really bad. This has restored a bit of respect. Once again though, I wouldn't recommend this to someone with little/no tech knowledge, because of the little quirks.
