1 out of 5 eggsA good thing turned to a hassle

Pros: When it works, it works good. It did do for a few days.

Cons: But after a few days it started giving all kinds of problems. Wireless would not wake up from sleep, would show limited connectivity.
Then the problem of not waking up at all from sleep was added.
Tried all known solutions, nothing worked.

Other Thoughts: Dell has not offered any corrections on the problems that customers have been facing since the introduction of the product. If they have not managed to find solutions after quite a few months on the market, then this product can be called defective. Too much of a hassle for a product that is supposed to make your life easier. Intend to return for a refund. Will not the risk of another one.

4 out of 5 eggsvery good

Pros: Full windows, no defects noted, 64 gb model, arrived with 41gb free, after office installation and windows updating free space went down to about 35.5 gb.
Rear cover comes off easily (unsnap using sharp plastic tool). No glue involved like ipad.
Easy to change battery and almost anything else inside.
prefer the slightly less rigidity over the ipad because it is much easier to access it.

Cons: ease of use still not comparable to ipad, battery drains even on standby or off.
Ipad controls its battery drain much better.
Struggle to hit right letter or buttons sometimes.
No stylus included. Costly extra. No OEM OTG cable included. Some OTG cables may ruin the micro usb port. Micro USB port has square opening, if in a hurry could enter the male part wrong and cause damage.

Other Thoughts: Still prefer it over the ipad, more flexible platform. If only battery drain was better controlled.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat tablet

Pros: Small profile, zippy performance, 64gb storage works fine with an additional 32gb microSSD. I now use this device as primary over my laptop for all my windows productivity applications and love it. Keyboard/case seems overpriced and decided not to go there. Very nice design. Like the backing ridges which are trippy on sloped surfaces (the Venue Pro11 does not have these.

Cons: No USB drive.
Windows uses a M$ Live profile only...a bit of a
pain to configure my Office365 account instead.
Wish it had a dock option like the Venue11 for the office.
There have been ongoing issues with the WiFi adapter not working every time I run M$ patches. Usually resolved through a combination of removing the offending patch and reinstalling the adapter drivers... so make sure you keep the driver local.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommend.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Pro!

Pros: Seems to be a rugged little device, with a very nice screen.
Price was fair, and shipping was quick. Was able to run my 'non-standard' windows application on it with no problem.

Cons: The Venue 8 Pro, does not have Windows Pro installed. Without Windows 8 pro, I can not add to my Active Directory.
Even though the screen looks nice, It does not seems to recognize standard finger commands. I can not expand (or magnify ) the screen by spreading 2 fingers.
After having it for a few days the wireless stopped working and I had to reset to factory to fix.

Other Thoughts: In fairness, the device does clearly state that Windows 8.1 is installed, And I must have subconsciously included the Pro into the Windows version based on the Product name. I am not unhappy with the device, and will upgrade the device to Pro in a few days.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad for the price if you need x86

Pros: It comes with full Windows 8.1 not RT.
Microsoft Office is preloaded, I think it's Home and Student.
The build quality is surprisingly good.
It has a micro SD slot for expansion.
The performance is adequate, I think another 2GB of RAM would have been a good idea.

Cons: Battery life suffers greatly now that I have everything up and running on it.
Micro USB cannot be used for a USB device and for charging at the same time. I got around this by getting the Bluetooth keyboard and a Bluetooth mouse.
Gets very warm under load.
App store is extremely lacking and Windows 8.1 is very inconsistent.
It doesn't have any kind of docking port or external monitor connection.

Other Thoughts: As a IT professional I decided to get this tablet as a low cost way to see if Windows 8.1 on a tablet would be handy in the datacenter. I wanted something that would run MS office along with other applications like vSphere Client, UCS manager, and the various SAN management software I have. All things that just don't work well or at all on my iPad. At first things weren't going well and I was considering just returning it. After loading all of the latest drivers and firmware from Dell it has been working much smoother. If you are needing to run x86 applications in a very compact form factor on a limited budget this is certainly a good way to go. That requirement is the only way I would recommend this device. As a tablet it doesn't work all that well due to a very weak app store and inconsistencies in the Windows 8.1 UI. If you are wanting a tablet go iOS or Android. If you need to run professional applications in a compact form factor this is a good option. If you decide to get one make updating the firmware and drivers first priority. Otherwise you're going to have a bad time.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty solid little device

Pros: - x86 compatible - runs all the apps (even installed Visual Studio!)
- Fast (especially compared to Surface RT)
- Rugged
- Lots of accessories available
- Cheap
- Battery lasts me days

Cons: - Stylus wasn't available when I purchased. Dell was having issues so re-released the improved hardware. I haven't had a chance to test the stylus yet.
- Cameras are pretty average
- Only one microUSB port - can't charge and use USB at the same time

Other Thoughts: I love this little work horse. Runs Windows 8 and x86 apps very quickly. I installed Visual Studio 2013 on this thing (and even got code compiled and running) with no issues. Amazing little device. Be sure the first thing you do when you get this thing is update the firmware

5 out of 5 eggsDell Venue 8 Pro Tablet PC

Pros: I am very content with my purchase. I use this tablet outdoors instead of carrying my bulky laptop. It's efficient, durable and allows me to perform my work with ease.

Cons: The icons and screenloads are smaller than what I expected but I bought this tablet for its compactness.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Good !

Pros: Fast performance as expected and free Windows Office (did quite a bit of research before choosing this one). Fine price on newegg too. Customized covers easily available.

Cons: No HDMI port or Sim card port ! with these additions even with an additional 50$ tag this tab would a winner in current market ...

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I purcased this for a colleague who loves Windows devices and
I used it for a couple of days. I had the impression of a very good screen and excellent size, easy to manage.

Cons: My opinion is that Windows 8, even if much better then previous versions, still shows to be inadeguate to touch screen: if compared with android or IOS, everything seems to be more complicated and less flexible. Of course, the advantage of Windows 8 is that you can get most of your pc software working on it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat tablet!

Pros: Cost compared to other tablets; functionality provided by an x86 version of Windows.

Includes a basic version of Office at no additional cost

Coating on the back has a nice, rubberized feel

Minimal junk software

Cons: Backup methods are less than ideal
No USB OTG adapter included
Buy a longer USB cord for your charger; this one is tiny!
Latest firmware updates triggered bitlocker, but was only a temporary inconvenience.
