5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: I bought this for my son almost 3 years ago. He plays video games on it, does homework, and anything else a teenager would do on a computer. It has worked great and is still working fine. I would recommend!

Cons: none really

4 out of 5 eggsNice Introduction notebook, but...

Pros: Third gen Intel core i5, Nvidia graphics (be it discrete though with Optimus) , 17" screen (nice screen for the price) and USB 3 inputs.

This is a really nice base system or first gaming laptop, the specs are decent and for the price (I bought it on sale for $550 from Newegg) and it's a great starter.

Cons: Decent laptop, but...

4GBs is bad for gaming, I installed a second 4GB G-Skill RAM Module and this thing came alive! Discrete graphics (switchable) are bad and do almost nothing for battery life on this thing, you'll still get only 2 hours maybe 3 if your lucky when doing casual web surfing and word processing. The CD tray is flimsy and I wouldn't trust being to loose with how you install disks. The VGA port needs locking screws so you don't loose connections.

For other cons see Other Thoughts.

Other Thoughts: My impressions of the G780 is that it's a nice laptop for the price, but don't expect this thing to be a beast, it's an introductory system.

However, the HDD, RAM and Lenovo's pre-loaded Windows 8 install are all bad. I had to replace each of these after a year or operation with the exception of Windows 8, had to replace that due to I don't like, nor wanted Windows. The Hard drive almost failed after six months and I had read/write errors in the thousands. The RAM Module that came with the system failed after a year and I have to replace that now too. Overall, it's decent system, but be warned and wary of these issues on every buy.

3 out of 5 eggsSound problems

Pros: Fast, big screen, great keys for long type sessions...Price.

Cons: WINDOWS 8. Mousepad is awkwardly located for righthanders and brings up pointless sidebar when right quarter of of pad is touched in any gesture.

Other Thoughts: Speakers stopped working after playing music through the headphone jack. Now I only get mono through the headphones.

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: Great price, also comes with a decent graphics card and decent processing power.

Cons: Windows 8 is a huge con since it's not intuitive for a non touch screen laptop. Also the DPI on the screen is really low. Another gripe is the way windows 8 prioritizes the intel hd internal graphics card as primary instead of your dedicated graphics card. I've also had issues with the microphone not working properly at all. I literally have to put my right on top of the mic for anyone to hear me at all and even then it goes in and out. I've also just recently started hearing loud noises coming from the fan.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: it was working good for about a month, it was on 60fps on most of the games i played and it barely ever went down.

Cons: When i brought this laptop to my friends house, it wasnt even turning on, it was stuck on a boot loop ( it kept on shutting off whenever i tried turning it on) it only turned on sometimes and whenever it did it shut off automatically. I had to refresh this laptop. When i got home it worked fine but the performance was terrible, I started going down to 30 even 20fps at sometimes. Just a couple of days ago I brought this laptop to another friend of mine and it did the same thing, it didnt even start up and now im at my house and its doing the same thing, I have no clue what happened to it, I have never dropped it or done anything to break it, its just not starting and i cant use it at all. I am wondering if i could still return it for a replace, but ive had it for 2 months and now im wondering if i could still get warranty on it and get if fixed.

3 out of 5 eggsGood specs / bad screen

Pros: It really does have the best specs for its price range.

Cons: The screen is really bad like the reviews said. You really need to tilt the screen to see some colors, alot of colors are off, its just a really cheap screen.

Memory is a bit short, standard is 8 gigs now.

Other Thoughts: I probably would have gotten something else if i knew the screen was so bad, but the gpu was the most tempting and there was no way to tell from reviews unless you see it for yourself. Some may not mind. I dont really hold too high standards for screen quality, specially for a mid ranged laptop but the screen on this laptop was really bad

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Bang for your buck is huge. The overall design is great.

Cons: Cheap feeling on certain aspects of the laptop, but that's to be expect with the price tag. Specifically, the lid is flimsy and my keyboard has begun to "lift" after about 1 month.

Left pad button is also loose.

Other Thoughts: Worth the bang for the buck. I use this to sit on our loveseat and play WoW and League of Legends while my wife watches moves or crochets.

The complaints I have are not serious whatsoever

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for gaming!

Pros: Really nice metal exterior. Core i5 allows me to run programs and games well and fast. Very nice screen. I can run major game titles from 2012 on high settings, which is awesome!

Cons: Wish this computer was optimized for Windows 7. Reformatted because I couldn't stand Windows 8. Not impressed with the audio. I'm upgrading from a g550 which had amazing audio.

Other Thoughts: If you reformat to Windows 7, remember to create a repair disc for Windows 8 or use a different HDD otherwise you void the warranty.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a laptop

Pros: Great price $499 can beat that. It's a I5 and 17 inch. I really cant complain.

Cons: Not to keen on win 8 so far its ok but i'd think this pc would benefit from win 7 better.

Other Thoughts: None, i think a few upgrades and this puppy should be sweet. SSD, Win 7. SET

5 out of 5 eggsphenomenal

Pros: Great graphics card, 3rd generation i5, and when i bought the machine it was only $550 (even at $650 it is still a very good deal).
Shipping was extremely fast.
windows 8 gives no problem to set up and once you get used to it, it makes life easier.
can easily run devil may cry 5, dishonored, and rage with no problem on ultra.

Cons: Non that i can think of at the moment, apart from having to get used to the new keyboard but that's just me.

Other Thoughts: overall this is a great computer that i would recommend to anyone looking to buy a pretty decent gaming computer at a great price.
