5 out of 5 eggsThinkPad reliability at a very good price

Pros: ThinkPad reliability, i3 speed, Win7 Pro, HDMI, USB3, but otherwise mostly barebones system that will be a good reliable machine for most people. This thing is built like an 80s Toyota pickup, not very pretty, but extraordinarily functional and reliable. It has 3 screws to access most major components, VERY convenient.

NON-glossy screen

Num Pad on the left

Cons: Seagate hard drive.
2gb RAM is a bit low for 2013 (hardly a con though, since the stick in it only takes up 1 DIMM slot, and I added 4gb to it for $25).

Creating recovery discs was a media-hungry and time consuming task. I suggest just calling IBM and ordering some (they were free when I called).

Other Thoughts: The touch pad takes a little getting used to. I had to disable all the 'gesture' features because the way I move my fingers constantly would activate random features.

I immediately bought an additional 4gb ram for this laptop (for $25 extra, why wouldn't I?). I also immediately bought an SSD for it, which further increases reliability and made the speed absolutely phenomenal.

5 out of 5 eggsClueless

Pros: nice machine for the money

Cons: You gumby's dont know what your talking about very few programs will take more than 2 gig to run and certainly not anything you would run on a machine like this. maybe you should uninstall the bloatware that all manufactures put on there machines and turn off all the programs running in the start up menu or do like most people that know anything about computers do , a clean install. you should really learn a few thing before you write a BAD review.

I did the right thing and this machine just flat out moves.

1 out of 5 eggsVery Low Memory for Lenovo ThinkPad Edge

Pros: A compact computer at a great price.

Cons: Memory too low. Basically unuseable to connect to Internet. I have to upgrade to double the memory size. That increase the cost of the product. Start up and shut down of computer is a snail pace.

Other Thoughts: Based on present memory configuration, purchase of the computer is not recommended. Lenovo should not even put this model out as speed of Internet connection is necessary for today's users.

2 out of 5 eggswith only 2 GB performance is horrible

Pros: price and Windows 7 Pro.
It can be a good laptop, but it needs min. 4 GB and hours of work.

Cons: Because of the bloatware, windows update does not work. Out of 68 updates, 7 failed. Then, after restart, most of the successful updates were reversed/cancelled, and the (instead of 7), there were 59 updates. Repeated the update process again, and, again, ended up with 59 updates that would not install. The problem is solved by following the procedure below. Other people reported such problems.

Other Thoughts: to improve the performance, people install windows from usb. Download Windows 7 USB-DVD-tool from Microsoft and X17-24281; with these you make a bootable USB drive; use it with the Windows 7 key located under the battery. Install only the really needed drivers from Lenovo. Download the Power Management Driver (not Power Manager) geku16ww - otherwise you get a Device Manager error.
