4 out of 5 eggsSatisfied at last

Pros: Product as advertised. This is a fast laptop with exactly the features I wanted; Windows 7 with non-HD display. Boot time is fast!

Unit is fairly clean, no real issues or concerns with heavy usage or wear as indicated by some of the other reviewers.

Comes with a set of restore CD's, and a refurb product key to activate Windows. All the MFR software appears to be installed, including the fingerprint reader.

Battery life fully charged is just under 4 hours.

Cons: Unfortunately the first unit I received displayed on "fan error" on power on. I RMA'd it through the refurb company Metro PC. While their response was quick, the prepaid return was via ground service, which took a week from Hawaii. So it took about three weeks, but I got a working unit.

I didn't really care for the strange packing method they used, but the second unit arrived fully working.

Other Thoughts: Perhaps a tad overpriced ($479 would have been just right), but this is exactly what I wanted. If your on the shelf about this, give it a shot as any problems are quickly remedied.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: I received my T410 in record time. It booted quickly the very first time. It had the physical sturdy qualities I expected. I installed my office suite, security apps, and other programs with no problems.

Cons: The fourth time I started my laptop I received an error message before windows could load completely. On a black screen appeared the error message, "Fan error", then my laptop shut off. This happened repeatedly. I sent laptop back because I can't trust it for work commitments.

Other Thoughts: Newegg offered to replace the laptop but I had limited installs on some of my software. A replacement laptop would require a third install of some of my software.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Service

Pros: The refurbished Thinkpad T4120 2522 is an excellent piece of equipment. Very sturdy and stable. Window 7 Pro and 8gb memory, with the SSD is an excellent combination.
Setup instructions are complete, no problems. Priced correctly ($509) for the age and condition.

Cons: First machine received would not hold the RJ-45 cable.
Return was easy with quick turn-around. Problem was not repaired. When I contacted them they cross-shipped a replacement. The replacement is perfect. The tech included a 10ft cable, to be sure I was using a good cable.

Other Thoughts: I received excellect support from Josefa. He was quick to respond and saved the sale.

3 out of 5 eggsFair conditon

Pros: Screen - Perfect
Battery date - "09 2010" 5.2AH - Seems to hold a 3 - 4 hour charge.
SSD - Intel SSD Toolkit shows "Good Health" and close to 100% remaining life.
The rest of the laptop's exterior appears to be in very good condition. (See cons).
Windows 7 64b disc.

Cons: Keyboard - Lettering for "A" and "N" keys worn almost completely.
Wrist bezel - 1 inch crack from the "Fn' key to the edge.
Left speaker grill - A little torn up.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal for Non-Gamers

Pros: - Very fast boot, opening programs
- Great condition, no noticeable signs of use
- Amazing price considering the specs
- Snappy CPU, large SSD, lots of RAM

Cons: - The left control key is the second from the left on the bottom left row of the keyboard. A "fn" key is the on the far left. Very annoying.
- Not much of a graphics card - but you should already know that you're not buying a gaming laptop

4 out of 5 eggsSweet machine, great service

Pros: Classic Thinkpad look and build quality
Thinkpad input devices (keyboard, trackpoint and touchpad)
Fast, quiet w/ SSD
Fingerprint login
Thinkpad keyboard light (simple but effective for working in dark)
Relatively thin & light (but no ultrabook!)
Wakes instantly
Relatively free of bloatware

Cons: Keyboard has a bit more flex than a Thinkpad should.

Unit was a little dirty and came with a bad battery. However, I e-mailed the refurbisher (contact info was in the box) to tell them about the problem and that I hoped a refurb laptop would have at least 50%-60% battery capacity, not 20% like this seemed to have.

They responded immediately, asked me for the S/N of the unit and my shipping address, and apologized for the trouble. I replied and a few days later I had a brand new battery that Windows says will last 4.3 hours.

My only minor complaint is that they did not tell me they had shipped it, but from their e-mail it seemed pretty clear that they were going to do that without any further info needed, so I wasn't too worried.

Other Thoughts: I would love to give 5 eggs but for that the machine should have come with a good battery to begin with, and a bit more of the crud cleaned out of the keyboard. However, I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone considering it. It's a great deal, I did a lot of research before settling on this unit.

Just remember, in dealing with customer service, you catch more flies with honey, so if you have any issues, just write the company nicely and let them surprise you.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW did I get lucky, I guess!!

Pros: Fast!
Cheap!
IEEE 1394
SSD
8Gb RAM

Cons: None so far!

Other Thoughts: Wow.... I dont know if I just got REALLY lucky or what, but I just got mine in today, and I swear its brand new!!! NO signs of wear whatsoever!! It even SMELLS new!! I suppose the refurb I received could have a new shell, but I am blown away. Booted RIGHT up, screen looks perfect! Everything seems to be functioning flawlessly so far (which isnt saying much since I just got it in). I just had to get on here and say how awesome of shape this thing was in. I wish I could show you pictures! I was a little leery at first due to all of the other reviews being mixed, but I crossed my fingers and it worked! Thanks Newegg!!

3 out of 5 eggsUsed machines- Should be cheaper

Pros: It's definitely speedy for a Windows machine. I also chose it because of Windows 7 Pro as I hated the new Windows 8. This is a serious machine with great specs except for a reltively small HD- but then again if have 160gb on my computer, I can guanrantee at least 1/2 is not necessary or should be somewhere else- just to be safe. Operates programs with ease- big improvement over existing 3 y/o Satellite.

Cons: OK- Refurbished to me means that someone returned it for some defect which they fixed and turned around, basically giving it to another customer as almost new. This machine has definitely seen some heavy use- so basically it is a used machine, in which case I think the price should be more like $359. My machine looked as if it had extensive use- worn keypad, oily spots, etc. It was packed without any paperwork- the OS CD's were sliding around completely loose inside the box (the computer was suspended in plastic on one side with the rest of the box just air)- Keypad and keyboard showed signs of wear. Kind of a weird buying experience. I will keep this as a work horse for those windows programs I have to use for business. Also- quite large and heavy for a 160gb HD. I think these were just used by some big company somewhere, bought back for next to nothing and are being sent back out in bulk. You take your chances a bit, but a new machine with these specs woudl have been $150-$250 more.

Other Thoughts: I will keep it and get good use out of it if there are no issues. If it has issues because of age, then I will regret the purchase. Wait and see! Otherwise, no complaints- except I think $359 would be a great price for a used machine that you take your chances on.
