1 out of 5 eggsNumerous known problems with no solutions. Stay away

Pros: - Case is well designed and feels good.
- Keyboard feels good
- Touchscreen was surprisingly useful

Cons: - Constant difficulty with wifi, mostly drop outs and difficulty connecting.
- This model currently does not support windows 8.1. Attempting to upgrade can permanently damage the machine.
- These models commonly develop a problem where they cannot recover from sleep mode. The forums are flooded with complaints with no resolution.
- The joint holding up the screen failed after 11 months

Other Thoughts: I'm usually a fan of Lenovo, but I don't know what to say here. I bought two of these machines and will have to replace them after less than a year of light use.

1 out of 5 eggsBlue Screen King of Computers

Pros: Touch screen is cool for scrolling, if the machine ever powered up.

Cons: * Continuous blue screens and crashes so that I could never use the thing

* No DVD drive

Other Thoughts: I want my money back!!!!! This is nothing but an expensive paperweight, and oh yeah,

1 out of 5 eggsTRASH

Pros: Thin, light

Cons: Wireless died after 3 months, SSD after 4 months. Nothing but headaches. All of these problems I found are common and Lenovo has all but ignored them. Hell the wireless issue has a thread on their forms over 70 pages long.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this. I used to swear by Lenovo said they had the best laptops in the biz. I WAS WRONG!

2 out of 5 eggsBelow average ultrabook

Pros: - Bright easy to view screen.
- Responsive touch screen.
- Remarkably quick considering the 3rd Gen Core i3/4GB

Cons: - Extremely flimsy casing. I picked it up one handed on the right side and I felt like it was going to break in half.

- Touchpad would sometimes click 3 times on one click as it was flimsy also.

Other Thoughts: Lenovo is well known for their decent quality laptops, this is not the case. If the U310 was more sturdy and , I would rank this as a top Ultrabook. Very dissapointed and even lost $75 to return it via RMA store credit.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for school

Pros: This u310 has a very nice visual design, even down to the machined power button. It has 3 USB ports(2@3.0 and 1@2.0) which at this price range is nice to have.

The sound quality is great for laptop standards and the speakers push sound out the area where the hinge of the laptop is which then bounces off the screen and it sounds as if the sound is coming out of the screen itself - something that I have seen more and more in mid-grade ultrabooks, but it is a very nice feature.

Battery life is great for school, My fiance uses balanced settings and has many programs open and it typically takes about 6 hours of continuous use to drain the battery (which is whats stated in the specs) I believe that you could get 7 hours if you use power saver features. *My estimates may be slightly off due to a new battery and proper charging.

it fits the needs of my fiance for both home and school. The u310 has a weight to it though (maybe because im used to my 2.5lb ultrabook) but it feels solid and has no body flex when holding it in one hand by one side of the laptop.

Cons: Touchpad. The touchpad is too sensitive for its own good, if a hair hits it it seems to react. With WIN8 left swipe task switching, my fiance found herself switching between programs on accident all too often. There are fixes for this that require some registry edits, which my fiance does not want to do as she is getting used to it and likes the feature.

Other Thoughts: When this ultrabook is on sale you will be hard pressed to find an ultrabook in the price range that offers more features or outperforms the u310.

When the u310 is not on sale I would still recommend it simply because Lenovo builds quality products and carries their quality from their business class to their consumer models. Higher quality products end up saving you money in the long run.

The HDD is only 5400RPM but that is only noticed on installations of larger software packages.

I dont believe that Lenovo's factory installation uses the SSD properly, it seems as though there are only Lenovo installation files located on it, however i am unsure if it is using it for cache or even anything at all... If my fiance mentions anything about speed or lack thereof i will then invest some time and investigate Rapid Start, etc to see if the performance is there.

Included Software: First off, I strongly dislike any pre-installed software on any system I buy and typically re-install windows as soon as I get a new system... However due to some persuasion from my fiance I did not do this to her ultrabook. It turns out that there are few applications that I needed to remove in order to allow her to use her favorites in place thereof, but the pre-installed package is not overwhelming, nor a resource hog.

If you have a touchscreen computer I strongly recommend Office 2013. NewEgg has deals here and there for $20 off of a year subscription, which makes it less than $0.05 per day per computer to have the most up-to-date Office package installed.

1 out of 5 eggsWin 8 FTL

Pros: Beautiful hardware and laptop, I use a u310 (non-touch win 7) for my daily and love it. Have had it for a year or so and never had any issues. Great laptop

Cons: Windows 8 is unusable. I had to return the laptop b/c of how unusable it is.

Other Thoughts: Great laptop, but get the win 7 version.

4 out of 5 eggsA great entry level laptop.

Pros: Decent screen for a 13" laptop at 1366 x 768.
Touch screen is fairly responsive and integrates well with the new Windows 8 software it ship with.
Its got a good keypad and a nice mousepad as well.

Decent memory, hard drive size and processor for a user looking for a machine primarily for browsing. Its also a very sleek slim and quiet machine when running. The exterior design/styling is quite nice as well.

All in all, im a happy bunny.

Cons: I take away one star due to a little bit of overheating.

I often have a fair few tabs in the browsers open (40~) while researching issues and iv noticed the laptop get warm inspite of using it on a laptop cooling pad.

In my experience laptops develop overheating issues a couple of years down the line, but the early indications from this one dont seem too promising and that's where it loses a star.

Other Thoughts: Keep up the good work Lenovo. These ultra portable laptops that are so thin and light are exactly what i need for casual use and i will happilly buy this again at this ~ $ 500 price point.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Touch Screen Laptop

Pros: This laptop is first of all great in design, the 13.3" is perfect size, not too big not too small and gives you everything that you could want in the neat convenient package. The computer is pretty zippy in terms of speed, I have seen others start up quite quickly and this one lags just slightly behind but once it is past that all other interactions are a breeze. The touch screen is fantastic and responsive, everything works perfect. The Keyboard is amazing, I am a huge typer so the keyboard is crucial and this one is fantastic. The design is nice and sleek, really an attractive laptop for the money too, it's not flashy but subtle and elegant. I absolutely love the interactions with Windows 8 as well the laptop handles it very well and the touch screen is great for it too. RAM and HDD are sufficient, if your looking for a powerhouse then look elsewhere, but 4GB of RAM and a 500GB HDD is plenty for what I need.

Cons: The touch pad is really my only gripe. It can be a little poor in terms of clicking on either the right or left buttons, but I use the touch screen more than anything for easier navigation. It's not terrible, it just takes some getting used to with it. Wireless mouse = not even an issue!

Other Thoughts: This is a great ultrabook for the money. Everyone else, such as the Yellow Tag Retailer (BB) and the internet store with the smile on the box, has this machine for well over $600 which at Newegg makes it a STEAL! I am so happy with the computer and would not have gone any other way. This is as close as it gets to perfect for me.
