1 out of 5 eggsNewegg botched this one.

Pros: Decent build. Laptop seemed sturdy enough, relatively light.

Cons: 640M LE. I was upset that it came with something other than what was advertised, I was far more upset by Newegg's help. Over a week ago I was told I would hear back from them regarding this issue and what they would do about it. Still nothing. I've sent it back now, and ordered another machine. But was seriously surprised that Newegg offered nothing in terms of owning up to their own error. It appears that it wasn't just my machine but all of them. The advertising has been changed on their website now. Had Newegg simply offered even a small repercussion for a gross error, I would be a lot happier with them than I am now.

Other Thoughts: Decent Machine, not worth the price, ill advertised, poor customer service.

3 out of 5 eggsA decent buy, despite the gcard.

Pros: Has a decently sturdy build.
Looks brand new despite being refurbished.
Very nice keyboard, and it is Backlit.
Speakers are decent. Nothing to call home about, but are adequate. If you are listening to good music, you are doing it through headphones anyways.
Hard drive is spacious, good RAM.

Cons: Only 3 real cons here.

The Graphics card, as everyone mentioned, is NOT the 650M that is in the description. However it seems to be running better than a typical stock 640M LE. So I'm really not sure what gcard is in this laptop, but it's performing well.

The battery life is pretty short. About an hour and a half to 2 hours.

The hibernation procedure is pretty stupid. It happened to me while I was watching a movie. It takes about 2 minutes to fully shut off. In that time, the screen blacked out, but the movie kept playing and I could hear it until the laptop powered off. I also plugged the charger back in, but it didn't cancel the hibernate or bring the screen back.

Minor cons are that the right "shift" button is pretty small, and the functions, including volume and brightness buttons, all require using the "fn" key, which might bother some people.

Other Thoughts: I feel bad for dragging a lot of people into buying this laptop, because I posted it to slickdeals when I found it. However, I will say that I did receive compensation for this purchase. It took a lot of fighting, but I eventually was able to speak with a manager's manager who offered me compensation for my troubles with their customer service, as well as receiving a product that wasn't the one that was stated in the description.

I don't know if I will order anything big from newegg again, but I will say that after a lot of hassle, they eventually were willing to make things right with me.

As a last note, I probably wouldn't buy this laptop again without the compensation I received from customer service. It's worth the $560, but you can definitely find better deals out there.

2 out of 5 eggsNot a GT 650m

Pros: Back lit keyboard is nice.
Metal housing for the screen and hand surface area, plastic base.
Well built doesn't flex if held by one hand. Nice and light.

2 1/2 battery run time for simple task, 30mins if you're trying to play planetside 2.

Runs cool at idle and good air flow on the left hand side, blows nice hot heat out when running high usage, get's up to 82 Celsius with the gpu and cpu in tandem, aka planetside 2.

Keyboard well spaced and no annoying proprietary keys in the way.

14" screen makes it nice and compact for easy travel.

Overall I like the laptop.

Cons: The downside to this laptop is, it does not have a GT 650m chipset.
A 640m LE has 384 cuda cores according to nvidia. The one on this laptop only has 96, but it's core clock and shader/memory clocks are much higher then a stock nvidia 640m LE which is 500/900 vs 753/1505 which come stock on this laptop.
A GT 630m is most likely the chip they used and lenovo used a 640m LE bios on it, or the other way around it's a defective 630/640/650m chip modified to disable the defective components and loaded with a modified bios.

It's possible that it actually has a GT 650m chip but was loaded with the wrong bios at the refurbishing center. I'll have to take it apart the laptop at some point in the future, only then will I know for sure when I clean off that dried out thermal paste on the chip.

It only has 1GB of memory on it.

Despite this, it actually runs Borderland 2 max settings at 32 FPS, Battlefield 3 on medium settings, you can run it on high but you'll be around 20 FPS instead of 30 on medium. Crysis 2 on "High" settings at 29-31 FPS. Planetside 2 on medium with high texture quality and render distance 1000 with FOV of 74 at 35 FPS at warp gate and 17-24FPS at The Crown.

I think it has acceptable performance, I would rather have the GT 650m though.

The hard-drive is a bit slow and a lot of bloatware, mcafee comes preinstalled on this. Also when fully booted, it's running 110 processes from how much bloat software is running. Way too many, eating precious cpu cycles and ram. That's ok, a simple wipe and reload of windows will fix that.

Other Thoughts: I was about to return this for a refund but after playing a few games on it, I was satisfied with what I got. It will do great for work and when I hit the road next month.

If Newegg, wants to exchange my laptop for another lenovo like this that actually has the GT 650m I would be willing to do so.

I don't mind buying refurb products, just as long as it works and actually is what was advertised, and not a lemon.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop if came advertised

Pros: Processor: 3rd Gen i5 - Great for pretty much anyone that doesn't do any sort of video editing/encoding. Fast processor.
Ram: 6GB sufficient for most people.
Quality: High quality build. Feels very solid in my hand
Keyboard: I can't comment highly enough of the keyboard. It's hard to find good laptop keyboards, especially being spoiled my mechanical keyboards, but the keyboard has a very good feel to it and definitely knocks most laptop keyboards out of the water. Plus it's backlit too! My only gripe would be the right shift key is a little small, but that doesn't hurt too much.

Cons: Graphics Card: This is inexcusable. The graphics card advertised was the GT 650M, but it came with a GT 640M LE. This is a pretty big difference in terms of graphics card. The GT 640M LE is a decent card, but right now I can't help but feel that I got cheated out of an awesome laptop because of false advertisement. I have talked to a Newegg rep and hopefully they can fix this issue though I have heard from others that they requested a replacement, but the replacement was cancelled. Guess time will tell. I knocked all 3 eggs off here because of it.
Trackpad: This is sorta a toss up. The trackpad is decent, but right now it causes my finger to drag when I swipe upwards. Very odd. I think this will go away with time, but for now, it's a minor nuisance.
Speakers: I was expecting a little more out of these JBL speakers, they're nothing special.

Other Thoughts: I really hope Newegg can figure out this graphics card issue. I like the laptop and I feel like I would keep it, but only if I was given some sort of reimbursement. Otherwise, it's probably going back.

2 out of 5 eggsGood if you dont expect what it shows

Pros: It offers some pretty good tech specs for the price, it seems like. But you are NOT getting what you pay for according to the item description as it is right now (21FEB2013). See cons/other thoughts.

Cons: It's Refurbished - BUT THIS IS FINE in reality, I knew when I purchased it.

Build quality = The overall construction is good but there was a loose screw moving around on the inside of the case.

GT 640M LE 1GB = this model's graphics card. Not even in the same league as the GT 650M 2GB as advertised, VERY disappointed!

Other Thoughts: I contacted Lenovo prior to purchasing this to find out if the advertised 650M had GDDR3 or GDDR5, and they told me this model comes with the GT 650M with GDDR5 memory. Well, that's obviously not the case.

I have already addressed the issue with NewEgg customer support, and they estimate I will hear back from them within 1-3 business days as to what could have happened with the misinformation on this order.

I hope NewEgg makes it right - I purchased this with the intention of a "Grade-A" graphics card and instead got a "Grade-C". I've no doubt the 640M LE will perform tasks fine, but not everything I need for it to do.

I'll come back with another review after any attempt for resolution is complete, or after the 3 business days to report anything that comes my way.
