4 out of 5 eggsGood for the Price

Pros: Runs most games though not at the top setting always.
Great for everyday use.
HDD allows for lots of media and games

Cons: Gets hot really fast
Fees like I have to tweak it too often.
8 month later and the processor is starting to under perform.
Typing sometimes is slow because of keyboard lag.
Mouse pad needs to be disable while typing
Only 3 USB ports makes for a mild annoyance
only 1 headphone/mic jack. If you don't have a 1 jack headset, you have to buy a y jack

Other Thoughts: I like the laptop, but after a while I feel like I should have bought a Tower so I could upgrade because the hardware is becoming outdated.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding value

Pros: Got this on sale for $500 for my girlfriend. She could not be happier with it. She's owned it since January (it's now August), and it hasn't skipped a beat.

Quad core processor is pretty slick - everything loads nearly instantly, and HD videos play just as seamlessly as on my self-built desktop tower running a SLI setup with two Nvidia 550 ti's.

500 gb hard drive is more than enough for her needs, but if you have an expansive movie library or are a total Steam junkie like I am, it probably isn't enough. Solid storage for a laptop, though - another check in the pros column.

I could go on, but nothing about this laptop sucks hardware wise. Windows 8 took awhile for her to get used to, and the tiles kind of annoy me, but once you get to the standard desktop, it's not so bad.

Cons: Windows 8 is kind of stupid without a touch screen, but nothing about this laptop convinces me that it isn't worthy of a 5 star rating.

Other Thoughts: tl;dr - Awesome value, plenty fast, perfect for a student or professional with moderate graphics needs.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat budget rig!

Pros: This laptop ended up being more powerful than I expected, easy to use and set up, and is rocking a sweet AMD A10 quad core APU. The 6 GB of RAM is plenty for all my daily tasks as well as some light gaming. The Radeon HD 8650G allows some pretty good gaming. World of Warcraft runs really well on this, as does Starcraft II, DOTA 2, and a few others. The display on this rig is surprisingly good. Color shift is minimal and I've watched a few movies with friends on it and no one had a bad view. The refresh rate was better than I expected (60 Hz). The Accutype keyboard takes a little bit to get used to, but I love it now. The keys have a pleasing tactile quality and appropriate layout for ease of typing and gaming. Also, this laptop is very aesthetically pleasing. Nice brushed aluminum look on the inside. Overall, this is a powerful budget laptop!

Cons: -The edge of the base is pretty sharp. Make sure you sit at an appropriate angle or it may get a bit uncomfortable. I would have liked to see a more rounded edge.
-The touchpad can be a bit finicky with two-finger gestures, though this may just be Windows 8.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Laptop

Pros: Good CPU, Okay Graphics, but that is to be expected with a laptop. Also, like the screen. Also, I really like the keyboard.

Cons: Battery life, it does not have the best battery life.

1 out of 5 eggsDISSAPOINTED

Pros: 8650 is decent for lit amin

Cons: I tout about replacing tis labtop wen it came wit two usb ports on te left side tat damaed anytin tat was plued in but fiured I could bear wit te reamainin workin one. BI MISTAKE!!!!!!!

Now after merely 5 monts te g, h, up arrow and escape keys ave all simultaneously stopped workin as of yesterday. Probabaly tis as to do wit te cpu temperature tat wen on idle is reported to be 90c and over 110c wen surfin te web. Altou tese temps seem unlikely and ave more to do wit te proram tat is measuring te temps, even after te bios update te labtops cpu trottles to 2.05z due to te eat wen simply openon multiple Wikipedia tabs or playin planetside on all low resultin in major la.

I am ravely regretful for not avin returned te labtop durin te 30 refund since I bout te labtop at ome and was in collee for te following monts. I will provide future updates as I aim to et a replacement from enovo wit te one year warranty. As one poster states, tis labtop for under 500 as te otential, unfortunately te 505s truly is a amble and sould be approached wit caution for future customers.

Other Thoughts: Not sure if tis incident is isolated but tis bein my first labtop purchase from Lenovo as destroyed my confidence in te companys build quality. opefully teir customer service will be of better quality.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: it does have decent speed and storage and a video card and a lot of memory.

Cons: unfortunately this computer only comes with 30 day trial of anti virus software and as soon as your trial expires the anti virus Mccafee actual becomes a virus. you will have hundreds of popups from this software during any and all use of the computer. movies gaming online etc. it will constantly be popping up. also as soon as the trial ends your computer seemingly picks up dozens of viruses from thin air. also the hard drive went to hell after about 5-6 months. also battery life is terrible. will only last for about 1 1/2- 2 hours.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy it!!

Pros: screen, picture, sound

Cons: lagging keys and pad, sometimes oversensitive to touch and other times non-responsive, both USB ports are faulty and do not charge, sometimes do not recognize devices at all, now experiencing DRIVER STATE FAILURE and crashing numerous times per use, multiple times daily.

Other Thoughts: Windows 8 is a nightmare with pop-ups happening all over the screen getting in the way and then not responding when you need them. I regret this purchase. Can't return to Newegg because it is beyond the 30 day period, and LENOVO has a down system, so can't register my complaint.

2 out of 5 eggsLeNoNot cool.

Pros: A10-5750
1tb hd
design except cooling.
I like the back door. 3 screws and almost the whole back comes off.
I like the look and lack of bright LEDs.

Cons: Lenovo cooling is junk. Cpu cooler is junk.
Temps spike to over 70c running only a web browser on a flat smooth surface. However the temps do not seem too insane but higher then i want any pc i own to run. Temps do reach about 85c testing with Prime95. I turned the CPU down to 2.2ghz with the AMD CCC driver, which says it is running 1.8 in AMD overdrive and then i see comfortable temps.
Processor is locked. Can't try undervolting it to combat heat. At the minimum disable turbo core in amd overdrive to control the heat. With turbo core disabled and a cooling pad i would probably consider gaming with it.
I think the reason everyone says this laptop is so quiet is because the fan hardly runs. And if the fan is on passive in power control setting the fan will be off until over 50c. I don't care for the CPU cooler it is two pieces the fan butts up against the heat sink and seems inefficient.
As others have mentioned poor quality control.
No duel graphics, it has the chip but the heat sink doesn't connect to it like the European versions probably because the heat was too much for g505s cooling and i'm quite sure it is disabled.
I don't care for the screen either.
Not very many Fn buttons.

Other Thoughts: You can check temps with Core Temp 1.0 RC5.
I did the bios update, replaced thermal paste. Tried windows 7, 8 and 8.1. I found all the drivers for windows 7.
I had a Acer A-6 Llano and was way more impressed with that.

1 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for.

Pros: A10, 6GB RAM upgrade to 8GB, Class 3 graphics card, all for under $500. Can play last gen games on med-high, next gen on low. Great value, other laptops with the same specs go for almost $700.

Cons: It's as if Lenovo has no Quality Assurance work center judging by other comments. 2 days of use, the display breaks down. Contant crashing during normal use. Upgraded the RAM out of the box to find both stick unseated. BIOS update too.

Other Thoughts: For the cheap price, and if you're willing to gamble, you will not find a better laptop for $500. Ended up returning this due to its problems out of the box, and the display crapping out.
