5 out of 5 eggsLenovo G505s

Pros: Decently sized laptop, did the bios update right from the start and it has worked fine ever since. Windows 8 takes some getting used to but I found that it is pretty decent. Not quite as bad as other people have put it off to be. Tried desperately to load Ubuntu onto here and kept running into issues. Found out moving the usb to uefi did the trick and finally was able to do what I wanted to do.

Cons: Hard Drive is pretty slow, but really if your used to a slow computer it's not bad. Eventually plan on upgrading to an SSD of decent size, probably 240 GB, and using a dvd slot to hdd converter for the terabyte seeing as i don't really use the cd drive.

Other Thoughts: Skyrim plays on this computer like no ones business. Didn't install any more ram than what was in there and it has played like butter since i installed the game.

4 out of 5 eggs4 gig or 8 gig not 6 gigs.

Pros: Nice Laptop.
Looks sharp.
Price on sale.
AMD's best laptop APU out.

Cons: 6 gigs of memory will not run in duel channel which will cripple graphic performance. Unless they started producing lots of 3 gig ram sticks.

Other Thoughts: I would like to see less laptops available that do not take advantage of duel channel especially one that has shared memory. i don't like to have to buy a laptop and change out the memory too. A set of ram with two 2 gig sticks would be an upgrade for this laptop's speed and graphics because only two matching ram sticks will run in duel channel. If you buy this laptop do not complain about the graphics capabilities until you upgrade the ram to an 8 gigs set at 1600mhz.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy

Pros: You can't beat the price: AMD10 CPU/GPU, 1TB Drive and 6GB memory all for under $500. Read reviews saying it couldn't game but don't be fooled, it DOES!!!! Gave it four eggs instead of five as there are better laptops out there but you'll PAY for them

Cons: Windows 8 - it's really not THAT bad, just a needless second control center/screen built for tablets and a learning curve as it's so much different than Windows XP/Visa/7. Keyboard also seems a little flimsy for me but I'm a heavy-handed typist. There's also the pre-loaded trial/crapware, but you get that with all boxed computers.

Other Thoughts: Bought this for my wife for under $450 on a holiday sale at a brick and mortar store; however, she now has to fight me for it as I've found out it's a pretty decent gaming platform and all for under $500. I'm currently playing Left4Dead, Dead Island and Mass Effect all on medium setting. This is the second Lenovo we've bought in the past two years. Aside for a power brick that went toast after a year on the first (not this machine), the whole family has been happy. I'd buy it all over again if given the chance (and you should too)....in fact I'm looking at another Lenovo powered by an A6 processor for one of the kids.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat budget gamer

Pros: Fast APU, great looking design, upgraded keyboard, brilliant screen, excellent speakers

Cons: A10 CPU doesn't have the compute power of Intel, RAM speed dependent, short battery life, BLOATWARE

Other Thoughts: Lenovo quality at it's finest. A great looking laptop matched with AMD's fastest (at the time) mobile APU and really good speakers on a budget. I purchased this for $333 (including taxes) and I love every minute on it. Swap out the 6gb of 1666 DDR3 for an 8gb kit of 1866 or 2100 (as fast as your BIOS allows) and the APU will really shine.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy!

Pros: I was looking for a good budget gaming PC just to run some games on medium settings. I got this when it was on sale, so unfortunately it did not come with BF4, but that is ok b/c i already had it. It can run BF3, BF4, and some Steam games, FF14:ARR all on medium settings with no problems. I am sure it can run quite a few games, but the ones I listed are the only ones that I have run.

Cons: No back lit keyboard, short battery life

2 out of 5 eggsSeem to be problem with CPU

Pros: Check others comments.
Specs doesn't seem to bad.
It looks pretty good for its price.

Cons: I had to send this in twice.
First time they told me nothing was wrong.
But since problem persisted I sent it in again and got a replacement.
But there still seem to be a problem with cooling.

Other Thoughts: Highly considering returning Lenovo Laptop and going with something I dont have to bother when I get myself a new laptop.

Make sure to check your laptop's internal temperature. If it is hot to the point where you can feel it in your hand when you touch the keyboard.

1 out of 5 eggsOne week of use...

Pros: Don't know the pros as I have not even had enough time to set up the computer for my wife.

Cons: I have only had the computer for about a week and I believe the graphics card has died. I start the laptop up and I can hear it boot, but only a black screen. I attached a external monitor to the laptop to see if the backlight or the display configuration was incorrect, but it does not find a signal.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointing.

Pros: -Lenovo customer support was polite.
-Not too loud nor very hot.

Cons: -Issue with the battery meter giving completely random readings.
-Sharp edge so that if your wrists laid down on the notebook, they would hurt.

Other Thoughts: First off, allow me to make clear all these issues lie with Lenovo and not Newegg.

Lenovo's QA department really needs to step it up. I turned on the notebook once and everything worked fine; I turn it on again and the battery meter is obviously borked (telling me that there's no battery detected when I'm sitting at a desk with the charger nowhere near me, for example). I contacted Lenovo's customer support and they said they're fairly certain it points to a hardware issue and gave me a few possible solutions, but some of which wouldn't even work because the battery wasn't detected by their solutions software (even though I was, again, running the laptop off of the battery and not the charger).

Long story short, I returned this for a refund. I can't be asked to deal with such issues for such a new purchase; these are the kinds of things that should be found with any decent QA department.

Newegg, I will be purchasing my next laptop from you, but it won't be a Lenovo.
