5 out of 5 eggsPretty big, pretty nice laptop

Pros: Fantastic full-sized ENGLISH keyboard with numpad, with the mousepad is centred with respect to the keyboard instead of the screen (trust me this is a good thing). Function keys double as F-keys with a simple BIOS option, and there's a dedicated power switch to let you into the UEFI configuration. The screen is absolutely humongous, crisp and clean, and there's more than enough horsepower in there to drive its native resolution. Power cord fits in there tightly and it takes some work to knock it loose so you won't become disconnected without knowing it.

Cons: Like all laptops, this one comes packed to the gills with bloatware for things like music streaming services and weirdo PDF readers and such. Nothing you haven't seen a hundred times before, and you should be pretty good at scraping this stuff off your machine by this point.

It's light for its size, but its size is 17" plus bezel. That's not a "laptop" you'll be tucking under your arm.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent bang for your buck

Pros: -The pricetag is fantastical
-i7 CPU
-Dual GPUs
-Good amount of RAM
-Variety of ports
-Great screen, colors pop.
-Light for the size
-Materials and build feel solid
-Numpad
-Quiet keyboard

Cons: -No SSD; I recommend buying one.
-10/100 NIC port...really? It's almost 2014.
-Intel HD 4000 is tied to ALL video ports (see below)
-No Windows 7 option (easy fix, but just sayin)
-F# keys not default (see below)

Other Thoughts: The Intel GPU is directly tied to all the video ports on the laptop. (Setting the default GPU to nVIDIA won't fix the issue...the ports are physically part of the Intel.) If you want to dock your laptop and use external displays you can't use the nVIDIA GPU. If you game on the main display you can stream stuff on secondary monitors like a champ however.

As others have said the F keys are an issue. I play FFXI so I have to use the Function key every time I want to select a party member. Except anyone on F4 can't be selected due to...whatever reason. I haven't found a way to make the F keys the default. An external keyboard fixes this issue, but it's still annoying.

Windows 7 isn't an option, but you'll have to reinstall anyway if you buy an SSD. Windows 8 is a terrible choice without a touchscreen tablet/laptop. Get rid of it immediately.

All said and done, this is a fantastic laptop.

I CANNOT BE HAPPIER WITH MY PURCHASE. A few minor gripes are not enough to take away from my enjoyment, although they did cost the laptop one egg. It's still super excellent.

The price gives you amazing power, it feels solid, performs well and runs cool. I use it as my gaming solution on the road, as well as a work laptop (I work in IT, networking and sys admin work specifically). It performs both these functions beautifully. Toss in an SSD for improved performance, maybe an additional 2GBs of RAM if you really want to squeeze out everything you can, and this is a very formidable mobile gaming solution. Throw in an external mouse and keyboard and you're golden.

If you're looking for performance in both work and play, this is the perfect sub-$1k laptop for you.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Laptop

Pros: i7 and dedicated graphics with 2gigs video memory
Plays kerbal space program well. Although I haven't launched any monstrosities yet though part counts were about 100 with no slowdown what so ever. Borderlands 2 was also playable

The sound quality and volume is decent for a laptop.

1600x900 its not 1080 but at 700ish price it is a pro.

Cons: Win 8 with no touchscreen
Win 8 in general

I'll eventually put win7 64 pro on it but I don't have the time or the will yet.

All touchpads suck imo (I use a mouse anyways)

500gb HD

Battery depletes quickly if the Nvidia card is on(kinda expected this anyway)

The wireless gets a little wonky sometimes and will lose the signal from the next room(both at work and home)

The screen glare is very bad under lights. Can double as a mirror when black.

The F1-F12 keys can only be used when another key is held and f4 doesn't work.

The exterior finish on it makes it harder to clean(its micro pitted)

I've only had it a short time and it sounds like one of the internal fans is already starting to tick when under heavy load

Other Thoughts: For the $700 I paid I really can't complain to much, yes there is issues with it, but at the price you would be hard pressed to find a comparable

I'm in the process of downloading Bio Shock Infinite onto the laptop just to see how it handles it, I will update my review afterward

4 out of 5 eggsGood choice all around PC replacement

Pros: Best price to performance deal I could find in a mainstream band name Laptop. New Egg delivered in 3 days with free shipping. Substantially less money than Lenovo's website price.

Cons: Not equipped with the classic thinkpad joystick pointer device I had on my T-series Lenovo. The touchpad is too sensitive for my tastes inadvertantly causing the cursor to move while I am typing.
I hate Win 8 and this is the "home edition" of Win 8 so it won't join a domain and does not have free downgrade rights.

Other Thoughts: I reloaded the unit with Win 7pro and a OCZ 250GB SSD. It's been great. The Nvidia graphics driver from NVidia web site loaded fine for me in Win 7 Pro 64bit. I use this unit for work as a Network admin and have found it to be an excellent all around use computer. As far as I am concerned, Win 8 is the new Vista. Win 7 is the way to go if you can't deal with Windows 8.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop, Great Price

Pros: Extremely powerful laptop for only $669.00. I was looking for a laptop that could handle some gaming and this has worked perfectly since I received it a couple of hours ago. I've been playing Ghost Recon Online and my last laptop, an Asus had issue with long load times and choppy graphics. This laptop does an excellent job switching from the Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics to the dedicated Nvidea GT 720M when it's needed. Very quiet laptop and doesn't seem to get hot under load. Absolutely glad that I researched this and bought it.

Cons: The only con is my own understanding of getting around Windows 8. The system itself is AWESOME!!!!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal... sorta

Pros: Terrific specs. Overkill for what I need but not for what I want.

Cons: BIG CON. There is no recovery disk. It's just the laptop. I'm flying without a warranty or way to restore to factory spec. I only knocked off one egg but others need to beware.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat price, great machine

Pros: Quiet
Does everything I need to for a sub-700 dollar device
17 inch screen
Matte finish
Seperate mouse buttons from touchpad (this is big for me)

Cons: Keyboard keys a little smaller than I'm used to

Other Thoughts: Got this when it was $650. Haven't tried any games on it, but with an i7 and 2GB dedicated graphics, I am certain that most games will play just fine on this. Windows 8 is better than ever with Classic Shell. I got Windows 7 back! This laptop is perfect for me. :)

5 out of 5 eggsLove this laptop!

Pros: Best deal I've seen around for an i7 laptop made by Lenovo. I did quite a bit of research and learning about specs and deciding on the features that are important to me. I spent 2 to 3 months learning and googling all kinds of laptop specs, doing research and going stores to try all types of keyboards and touchpads. This is my first laptop purchase. I fell in love with Lenovo since my employer provided me with one. I learned they have a reputation for building solid machines that last. The keyboard design is comfortable and allows me to type accurately at rapid speed. An IT colleague at work recommended Newegg. After spending some time here, I finally decided upon this model and I'm so happy I did. I was dreading Windows 8 but it's not that tragic as people make you believe. But I'm the kind of person that will click on stuff and figure it out and only having the machine less than a week I'm ecstatic about what I'm able to do so far. It seems apps are they way things are headed, so why not just learn Windows 8 anyway and be done with it? You can use the desktop and surf that way, you don't have to be tied to apps. You can decide which ones you like that work for you and it's easy to get rid of the ones you don't.

Cons: None for me

Other Thoughts: I'm glad I took the time to learn about laptops and the specs and found the one that was right for me. I had to make the move, since my desktop is 10 years old and XP is not going to be supported much longer and I'm getting tired of living with 2 GB max allowable RAM. I wanted a laptop that would last me for a while and that I could eventually upgrade the RAM in the future. I was glad to hear it can be expanded to 16GB (not 8GB as listed).

1 out of 5 eggsCareful if your a gamer

Pros: Nice price with good overall features.

Cons: The function keys are NOT the default setting. For non-gamers this is likely not an issue, but for gamers, it is. I called Lenovo support, and they told me this is the way it is and cant be changed. I looked up on web and saw those that changed the setting in bios couldnt get F4 key to work properly. I sent this one back and bought another. I have a Lenovo desktop that has a standard keyboard and love it. Not sure why changed on laptop.
