Pros: Nice size and weight

Cons: Dead hard drive on arrival, removed drive from Lenovo to see if my PC would recognize it, doesn't even show in BIOS. Drive MFG date 17Sept13 meaning either this laptop sat on a shelf for 7 1/2 months or someone stuck this dead drive in it. Laptop boots fine with my new WD 500 GB black.

Other Thoughts: Ordered for a client with a timeline. What a bad experience. Now the fun starts of RMA.

2 out of 5 eggsDissapointed

Pros: battery-saver utility in software

Cons: slow
dislike keyboard: function keys not easy to use
dislike trackpad: no buttons, touch control is not responsive
proprietary square power-input plug

Other Thoughts: Generally happy with my Lenovo purchases in the past, but this one is a dog. I upgraded from a Celeron 1.6 GHz dual core, expecting much better performance than I got, despite the better CPU and on-board graphics.

Pretty slow performance on all counts: boot up, opening/closing programs, web-page loading, video playback

The keyboard layout is odd, mostly have to press Fn key for functions; I prefer functions to be top-level, and brightness etc. to require an extra key stroke.

There are no left or right buttons, although you can push down to get left-button; right button is touch control. It makes scrolling and selection difficult when it should be super easy. Touch control is not very reliable.

The power plug is an odd square design, which makes it impossible to use another charger, even though it is essentially the standard voltage.

I think I will choose something else next time.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor design, bad touchpad

Pros: -Cost
-Quality Lenovo infrastructure (the hardware is nice)
-USB 3.0, HDMI, Bend resistant power adapter.

Cons: -Touchpad cannot be disabled without uninstall
-Touchpad is one big button, cannot click/drag, difficult to do anything without a mouse.
-Keyboard is too close to the touchpad, since it can't be disabled you are constantly moving your cursor around and randomly clicking/highlighting/deleting
-Came with no windows 7 recovery disks
-Feels like the machine was poorly ported from Windows 8 to Windows 7
-Slow HDD.

Other Thoughts: Unless you intend on typing bow-armed or like a typist from the 60's, you aren't going to have much luck avoiding the finicky touchpad which had the tendency to get in the way of everything. Typing short emails can take minutes because you constantly subconsciously brush against the touchpad, which can't be disabled without uninstalling it altogether.

Also, the touchpad is a big button that you can press. I know some people like that kind of style but if you're a traditional PC user this 'button' is extremely annoying.

The thing feels like a junky ported version of a Windows 8 machine. You know that feeling when you change the OS of a factory built machine from the OS it came with to something else? That's the feeling you get when doing anything on this machine.

4 out of 5 eggsNIce Little Computer

Pros: Good value, good performance and well worth the purchase price. It's not a gaming device by any stretch, but for home business/ student, it's quite adequate.

Cons: Nothing was/is said about this being a downgraded Windows 8 computer but it certainly seems to be. The three recovery disks are all Windows 8 and the Microsoft key is not recoverable. You can get the maker's default key, but that is basically useless. I deducted one egg for this. But, having created several System Images (on different HDDs) and sequestering them in safe places, I feel quite covered for disaster recovery. System Image restoration has worked flawlessly for me so I'm good with this. It remains to be seen what OS the locally generated recovery disks will actually restore. There is only a single LED to note power ON with no others to indicate charging, HDD activity and the other usual ones. The case is definitely not heavy duty, but don't play football with it and you'll be fine

Other Thoughts: When I purchased this computer, it had five rather high ratings, now there's only one ... two when mine is added. Very odd Newewgg, very odd indeed

5 out of 5 eggsFast, Reliable , Good looking laptop..!!!

Pros: needed a laptop for college, after looking for several days i finally found this one here on newegg!. glad i did.
it performs extremely well, it's fast, light weight, doesn't look cheap.
i could've chosen one with an i5 processor but for what i'm using it is more than enough. (browsing, email, office apps, watch videos.!).
Love the two ubs 3.0 ports.

Cons: the os comes with lots of bloatware...
but nothing a clean install can't fix.
