5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice, Highly recommend

Pros: I purchased 2 of these for a client. Both were very clean and in wonderful working order. The price at $500 was unbelievable compared to what I'd been seeing prior to this offer. I was worried about getting what you paid for, but this was the real deal. I wish I would have bought a 3rd one at that time. I was looking for an i7 as I have already had one with a solid state drive. These did not have solid state, but was still very please in the performance of the device as a whole.

Cons: Of the 2 units, one had a battery that was actually dead, wouldn't even last 5 minutes, and the DVD drive would read, but not write. Contacted MetroPC and they sent me replacement parts. In reality, this really should be a pro because they made the replacement process very painless.

Other Thoughts: While I'm always shopping around, if I see a product that I need and it's sold by MetroPC, I won't hesitate to buy from them again.

1 out of 5 eggsUsed, not refurbished

Pros: Purchased from Newegg.

Cons: I consider the condition of this laptop to be used, not refurbished. The keyboard had obviously been abused by the previous owner to the point the the space bar wouldn't function where your thumbs naturally rest, but only directly in the middle. The speaker grills still had dirt, and there was a slice across the bottom like someone cut too deep with a box cutter. All four corners of the case were worn. Given the obvious use, I question how much life the battery will have.

Other Thoughts: The laptop would boot, and had the specs indicated.

I realize cosmetics don't affect performance, but they can indicate to what extent a product has been used and how well it was cared for.

I have bought other refurbished Lenovo laptops from Newegg and have been totally satisfied. However, I would not consider this to be refurbished. These are used laptops. I suspect they are off-lease corporate laptops that are simply being re-imaged and sold.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Hardware for the price.

Pros: Great hardware for the price.
Usual great ThinkPad Quality.
Has the NVidia Quadro FX 880M (Was not listed in New Egg's specs)

Cons: Few minor scratches on the lid but nothing major.
A little dirt in the speaker grill, a quick cleaning fixed that.

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend this laptop to anyone looking for good hardware at a good price. Came installed with Win 7 Pro however this model is also certified for Ubuntu, and has been running great for me on that. Shipping was very fast too!

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good model. Good looking

Cons: I just came back from a UPS store where I shipped this product back to newegg's warehouse this morning and can not wait to write a review about this product.
I called the customer service to return it right after I receive it.
The laptop looked like has been used for more than 1 year and the speakers on each side and the keyboard were full of dirts. More ridiculous, an activation instruction paper came with the package stated " if you have any questions, call MetroPC @ xxxx"... MetroPC!?!?
I understand that a refurbished laptop should be a opened-box or out-of-date product with some replacements, but not used and dirty ones like this.

3 out of 5 eggsClean looking with a cheap SSD, cheap Memory

Pros: Looks new. Clean - no dings/scratches or dents.
SSD - even a cheap one makes quite a difference in booting up.
Screen has no blemishes at all.

Cons: Low end SSD.
Initially sticky keyboard, take a couple of weeks to loosen up.

Other Thoughts: Difficult to tell that this is a refurb. They have done a good job the refurb.

Initially all the keys were very sticky and some seemed like they were faulty. With use, however, they have loosened up and operate normally.

The machine does come with 64-bit Windows 7 Pro. Little to no bloatware. The only bloatware was some Intel software that I uninstalled (Beware removing this Intel bloatware will remove the wireless card driver, so make sure to have a wired connection handy to get windows update to get new drivers for the wireless card - happens automatically).

Suffers from all the same issues that a regular W510 does.

Despite being a low end SSD (Toshiba THNS128GG4BAAA), it is a pleasure to have an SSD.

Windows Experience Index finally shows a reading that is not bottle-necked by the hard drive. In fact the Hard Drive has the best experience score (7.0). The memory has the lowest score at (5.9).

3-month warranty is apparently provided by some little known entity: MBS in Stamford, CT.

I would recommend this refurb Thinkpad over some of the newer flimsy Lenovos or even more flimsy ASUS machines.

Best part - a Thinkpad that still has the classic keyboard!
