3 out of 5 eggsGreat gaming laptop, keep off flat surfaces

Pros: Great performance, relatively lightweight for a gaming laptop, very fast boot speed.

Cons: Runs VERY hot. It comes with foam supports that angle so you can type on the keyboard comfortably- I would recommend using them when gaming or doing other high performance tasks.

4 out of 5 eggsMeh.

Pros: Looks good, works good, sounds good.

Cons: Can't handle MMO's or high player count FPS games at max settings/resolution.

Other Thoughts: Got it for the wife, she never used it. Sold it to a friend. He's super happy it plays Archage flawlessly.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop (Touchpad and SLI fixes below)

Pros: Great performance
Looks awesome
Great screen
Amazing speakers
Fast boot

Cons: Standard Toshiba bloatware needs to be uninstalled
SLI doesn't work without downloading a firmware update
Touchpad and keyboard don't work together without modifying registry

Other Thoughts: By default, you CANNOT move on the trackpad while typing! This means that you can't look around and walk at the same time. However, by changing a couple values in your registry, you can enable that. In Current User > Software > Elantech > SmartPad change DisableWhenType_Enable to 0, and in Local Machine > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control > Elantech > SmartPad change DisableWhenType_Enable to 0.

Also, SLI won't work in windows 8 without a Levovo update: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS035829
Download the second VGA update.

3 out of 5 eggsLenovo IdeaPad Y510p (59388313) Intel Core i7 4700MQ(2.40GHz) 8GB Memory 1TB + 8GB SSHD Hybrid Drive 15.6" Notebook Windows 8

Pros: This laptop is great. It's my first laptop I bought for gaming, and I have already tried a few games (Thief, B&W2, TR, XCOM) on it and they all run full resolution on high settings. The screen's maximum brightness is very high, I never have it maxed, and it is 1920x1080 as advertised. The speakers are very nice for a laptop, still sound small but they sound very high quality for their size. The design of the laptop is very sturdy feeling, it seems like it could take a few falls without damage and if it does take damage, the design would damage the outside deflecting away from internal components.

Cons: Windows 8, had to update it to 8.1 and took me some time to completely get rid of Metro. After Metro is gone it's almost as good was windows 7, which I liked more then any previous versions of Windows.
Wireless adapter is garbage. It frequently bugs out and gets stuck at 'identifying' which is sometimes fixed by restarting the adapter, I've tried reinstalling the drivers twice for it, the issues came back with time. This is a known issue with the wireless adapter.
USB hub has an issue with some devices. To overcome the wireless adapter I plugged in a USB wireless adapter which worked great for a week. Now when I plug it in it just continuously loops between plugged in and out. This is another known issue with the laptop, although the issue was reported with other peoples iphones. My wireless mouse that has a usb fob that's always plugged in hasn't had the same issue.

So basically there are times when I cant get wireless internet on the laptop, I hope this is a driver issue that will eventually solve itself.

Other Thoughts: This is a steal for a gaming laptop. I don't think I would buy it again. Its a bargain and for that I have to deal with wireless issues every time I open the lid hoping its connected and I don't have to waste a half hour getting on the internet.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply awesome!

Pros: This laptop is simply incredible! It's an i7 with 4 Cores and turbo to 3.4ghz on the fly. I love the beautiful brushed metal finish this laptop has looks and feels solid and professional. SLi is a dream come true on a mobile platform. Plays Skyrim on high settings at 60 fps.

Cons: More like a 3 hour battery life if gaming. No optical drive , the second bay is used by the second video card. I purchased an external Samsung problem solved. Puts off some heat from those video cards so purchased a CoolerMaster cooling pad problem solved again. Only 3 USB ports needs a hub for my use.

Other Thoughts: Finest and fastest laptop I have ever owned! Quality is excellent and it's not cheap at $999 but worth every penny.

4 out of 5 eggsFantastic!

Pros: Price to power ratio is excellent. Plays most games at 1080P on high settings.

Quality product all around.

Cons: No NGFF M.2 SSD connector so no upgrade path outside of replacing the HDD itself.

- 1 EGG

Other Thoughts: Product description page should indicate whether or not the NGFF connector is available.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal

Pros: awesome power within budget for a gaming laptop. dual video cards and I7core. I'm not as young as i used to be, now married with kids, so being able to still play game but somewhat on the go (SOME WHAT on the go, in order to get full power out of the laptop, it has to be plugged into the call charger or it will auto lower the specs for battery life)
Battlefield 3, 4, Final Fantasy XIV, South Park Stick of Truth and the list goes on of what this laptop can play without any issues. Not as strong as a gaming Desktop for the same price, but for me it perfect

Cons: not a lot of cons, has to be plugged into the wall charger to get 100% percent out of it but that isn't such a bad thing, can still watch movies or older games when not plugged in. Speakers are alright, but for games i have a set of gaming headset to use anyways. does get hot, but with a $15 to $50 cool master fan under it, not a problem at all

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I really like this laptop and it can handle all the things I need it to. I mainly use this laptop for gaming (CS:GO, TF2).

Regarding the issue with the touch pad. It was really buggy and unresponsive when I first started up my laptop, but after I updated, downloaded, and installed the drivers (and some personal tweaking in the touch pad control panel) it's very easy to use.

Great video cards. Screen looks great. I really don't know how to explain the performance of the laptop other than it's fast. Overall a very good buy and I'm really happy with my purchase.

Cons: The biggest concern I have with this laptop is the GFX overheating. I guess that's pretty general and may sound like I don't know what I'm talking about so I'll use examples.

Even with a independent fan (Cooler Master Notepal X3) and not running SLI, my game will start to get choppy and lag (not ping related) if I'm playing for more than 2 hours straight.

The laptop/GFX cards get even hotter if you're constantly running SLI. I saw that some other buyers had the same problem as well.

4 out of 5 eggsLenovo IdeaPad Y510P

Pros: Powerful gaming laptop
Graphic cards SLI
1920x1080 Resolution

Cons: WiFi card could be better, not dual band only works in 2.4GHz range not 5.

Other Thoughts: Lenovo should not restrict the bios to upgrade the wifi card to an 802.11ac card. (Whitelist)

5 out of 5 eggsHigh Value Laptop

Pros: Matte Screen

Nice Processing Power

Dual Video Cards

Cons: Descent Cam wouldn't consider it HD

Track pad- Not too big a deal since I use an external mouse

Other Thoughts: I read of a lot of people having problems with network card. I have had no issues as of yet.

I am a student and was looking for a laptop I could throw multiple programs at.

Again, for the price I do not think there is a better machine out there. Best.
